Hotel is in a great location for exploring Florence and has the bonus of being near the train station. Room was large and comfortable with a great bathroom and shower. Staff was friendly and helpful. Building was clean and accommodating. The large, diverse complimentary breakfast was a great way to begin each day of exploring. I would stay here again and would recommend to friends and family.

Croce di Malta Hotel is at Santa Maria Novella Square, just 500 meters from the central Train Station, Staziona di Santa Maria Novella, Florence. It's central location makes it very convenient to walk to major sightseeing points, museums, galleries and restaurants; as well as to the train station for daily trips. We stayed at the hotel as a family of three, and the room was spacious enough after the added single bed. The domical-vault type of ceiling and windows were heigher than usual in the ... Read more

Stayed in this hotel very recently. We had paid for a basic double room but we were upgraded to a room with a garden view (I imagine as it was not the busy season). The hotel has a lot of character, it's not state of the art but has everything we needed. The reception is very modern and my only gripe would be that this hasn't yet filtered through to the rooms. The restaurant attached was very quiet and had surprisingly nice food for a last minute dinner. Staff were friendly and helpful, it'... Read more

My wife and I chose this hotel on a trip to Florence because it is close to the train station, and it satisfied that requirement well as it is an easy walk. But we were pleasantly surprised at what an overall good choice it was: Handy for the center of Florence, an excellent breakfast, and room quality that was good value for the money.

We stayed at this hotel for our honeymoon on 16th May for 4 nights. The hotel is situated in a good spot, both for exploring the main sites and closeness to the train station. The staff are very friendly and the room was large and clean. Our only disappointment was with the balcony in room 407 which only accommodated one person as it was half covered in some wooden slats and was not fit for purpose. However, we didn't use it as we were out and about most of the time

My husband and I stayed at this brilliant hotel with a group of 28 people on a tour of Italy...What a brilliant choice !! The staff from the minute we walked in were very helpful and extremely accommodating. ...The rooms were a good size with comfortable beds..the only down point was the bathroom could have been a bit bigger. The breakfast was more than generous..with plenty of choice. The hotel is only a 10 minute walk to the centre of Florence. We enjoyed staying there so much ..we plan on going... Read more

We had high hopes for this hotel but sadly it didn't live up to it's promise. I'll start with the positives because there certainly were some. Firstly it was lovely to have a garden and a pool in the centre of Florence, unfortunately the weather meant we were only able to use it twice but it was very welcome on the days that it was extremely hot. The location was excellent, 5 minutes walk from the station and within easy walking distance of all the sights and restaurants. The room was large ... Read more

There are several highlights of this charming, olde world hotel. It feels grand, it has a rooftop bar with a superb view over Florence, there is a pool and our room had a balcony overlooking the gardens. The facilities are all modern and up to date. It is minutes away from all the centrally located attractions and an easy walk to any number of restaurants in this wonderful city. The staff are helpful and friendly. There is parking available, at an extra charge (25 euro/day). Thoroughly enjoyed o... Read more

We recently had a two night stay and our first impression was good. We paid for a superior room with a garden/pool view. Our room was large with a mezzanine floor. Downstairs we had a sofa and bathroom with bath and WC. There was a tray with tea and coffee making facilities and a small fridge. We were very happy with our huge balcony with a beautiful view of the garden. Upstairs we had a comfortable bed, a TV and a shower room with WC. Great location for visiting Florence. Really wonderful friendly reception staff when arriving earlier than expected, nothing was too much trouble, especially as they were parking the car on our behalf. Decor was reminiscent of a Sean Connery James Bond film but fantastic if you like that. Very clean, but decor a bit tired. We heard a toilet flushing, which seemed louder than our own toilet! Roof terrace with bar and great views.

We ended up staying here by accident as the booking we thought we had at another Hotel didn't happen. Our agent gave us a few options over the phone, we had a look at a photo or two and said this will do. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The staff at reception were friendly and check in was smooth. We were given a nice room with a balcony over looking the pool which caught the morning sun and was very pleasant to sit on after breakfast contemplating the plans for the day. Break... Read more

Stayed here for two nights after a wedding in Tuscany. The hotel is positioned close to the action but far enough away that it's out of the madness. The swimming pool is a great feature and I spent a few hours down by it doing work during our stay. Room was on two levels and had two bathrooms in it. Recommended.

Not too far to main attractions and close to restaurants and train station. The room was very clean and comfortable breakfast was good. Staff were friendly. Decor is quite 70's but the basics are covered. We loved the pool since it provided a nice break to our young child from visiting museums and attractions. Will stay there again.

We booked this hotel last minute after deciding to leave our previous hotel due to massive disappointment, and not only did it save our holiday it made our Florence experience. To start it is a great location, all the main attractions are walking distance. The staff are amazing, literally the best hotel staff I have come across in a very long time. The Croce was once a Convent and, while sitting with a coffee in the early Tuscan Sun, I imagined their washing billowing in the courtyard (don't judge; I'm only talking wimples and bed linen) where now lies a swimming pool, outdoor dining and general lounging area. It is an old building with much to offer in the decor and tasteful layout. We loved the room which was a standard on the street side and there are also rooms available with a balcony. The hotel is currently conveniently located to all sites, great plaza area across the street. Pool area was clean and my kids enjoyed swimming. Food was good. Breakfast was a bit chaotic due to size of area and they would not allow dining on patio. Our room was large and comfortable. They also assisted us with a babysitter. We would definitely stay again.

Absolutely amazing location close enough to the main railway station but far enough away... Right by a lovely piazza with restaurants and minutes walk to main sites and attractions and beautiful Arnos river. The roof top bar is great for a pre dinner G&T, but quite expensive. We arrived before check-in time with spinning heads having driven in circles round Firenze's one way system until we nearly disappeared up our own exhaust pipe. A warm welcome awaited, luggage and car taken off our hands (nb outsourced car parking at 25 euros per day) and coffee in the courtyard by the pool. Front desk (overseen by Luca) could not have been more helpful and friendly. Comfortable period style room. Attentive staff - when we couldn't work out the bath shower attachment, a receptio... We had great memories of this place and it was supposed to be a special trip but 16 years on this hotel is in urgent need of an upgrade! The reception staff was very nice but no help with luggage and the breakfast was quite average, too. Pretty run down with air conditioning on it's last legs, showerheads and lights not working. We had a 5 night stay at this hotel so we had quite a few days to establish an opinion. We had booked the standard double room and was pleasantly surprised by the size of the room. However, the biggest negative of this room (and likely the hotel in general) was the size of the bathroom. Croce di Malta We stayed at this hotel for two days. The rooms were typical Italy (nothing fancy, but cleaned daily). We had two very firm twin beds pushed together which was not the most amazing sleep, but it beat a backache from a too soft bed. The hotel also offered a pool in which we had no time to utilize (just because we were eager to do other things) as well as a roof top dining. We found the breakfast buffets to be the same as other Italian hotels in which they offered an assortment of... Read more
