This was a pretty decent hotel. Didn't use the restaurant, but was very happy that the gym was in good shape. The inside looks a little 70's as most people said, but I didn't mind as long as everything was functional.

A slightly dated (in style and looks) but clean and welcoming hotel. Rooms are fairly spacious and comfortable. The staff is friendly, welcoming and speak English - some more than others but always trying and succeeding in communicating with guests. The hotel is located on a busy street in walking distance from the historic city center. There is no free parking. The wifi works reasonable well and has in-room coverage at least on the lower floors. The hotel is 5 minutes drive from the Airport a... Read more

A large old fashioned Grand hotel about 15 minutes walk to the city centre. Room comfortable and well equipped (despite the many vaguely threatening notices about not bringing take aways or pizzas back to the hotel). Service impecable and a nice breakfast included into my room rate. Price more than competative - even after I added ?12 to leave my car in the swcure underground carpark. All in all a very enjoyable stay - and very definitely a bargain .

We found the hotel Elite, clean and comfortable. The staff were professional and in the main friendly but not overly welcoming. The room (107) was of good size and although at the front of the hotel we weren't bothered by road noise. What was a problem was the room above which was probably a store-room or rest-room for the staff. At 0630 every morning the noises would start, as the floors are wooden there wasn't even carpet to muffle the footsteps or the noise of the trollies or cleaning carts b... Read more

The hotel interior is very nice and clean, however the layout is odd, and styling is straight from the 70s. The staff are very friendly, helpful and polite, our Baggage was taken to our room on arrival, commensurate with a 4 star standard. I would like to make a special point of mentioning the cleaners, our room was always immaculate when we returned, clean towels , soap, not a spec of dirt anywhere?????. It is located about 25 mins from the old city, our room faced a main road and the view... Read more

More negative than positive. Lobby area as nice as in photos but not so much elsewhere. First hotel employee we came into contact with was rude. Parking underneath tight/confusing in large part due to hotel employees rudeness. Elevator access was nice. Bedding lumpy, wifi slow. Balcony was difficult to access because the doors interfered with one another. Great location and proximity to town/transit. Opted out of the $9 for breakfast per person, and walked a few doors up the road to a breakfast... Read more

This hotel is just outside the centre of Bologna, the room was spacious, we had three good sized beds that were all comfortable. There was two wardrobes and lots of storage. A fridge, and a bathroom with a good sized shower. My only downside was the hotel restaurant - which was fine for breakfast - which was very good, but do not bother for an evening meal. We waited ages, and one meal had to be sent back. The food was overpriced and cold. There are plenty of cheaper alternatives, and I would... Read more

Decent, clean hotel, though very dated and sombre decor throughout (chocolate-coloured walls, floor, bedlinen, furniture). Staff the main redeeming feature as they were professional and helpful and you can walk into the city in 30 mins. For a hotel which claims to be five star, there isn't a kettle in your room or even a bottle of water. Breakfast wasn't the best and very little healthy food available - tinned fruit and the one piece of fresh fruit available (an apple) had a bite taken out of it... Read more

The only things that let the hotel down are the hard beds and the warm rooms at night otherwise it was very clean and well maintained, the staff were helpful and pleasant, the rooms were well laid out but didn't have a seating area. It was a short walk into the centro storico. The wifi was rather slow and kept dropping

My wife and I stayed in this hotel for a total of four nights. Our experience was like this: Pro - close to the city center - walking distance of about 2 to 3 km - approximately 15-20 minutes; - close to a supermarket - where you can buy what you need or want - mind the closing time - 20:00; - safe area - we walked to and from the city center and train station - at 22:00 and 23:50 - all good; - if you come from the airport you take the AEROBUS and you get off at Ospedale Magiorre and walk towar... Room is bit old looking but clean. I sleep well in all 6 nights. Only the pain for me is no kettle in the room but the hot drinks are available at the hotel lobby and is FOC until 12am. My friend was complaining the air conditional is noisy and make her cannot sleep but I do not have problem on it. Luckily it was not so hot at middle of June, so that I switch off the air conditioner. Breakfast is alright, everyday same breakfast (bacons and scrambled eggs are the only hot food). The rest is frui... Read more

Large suite like room with kitchen area, leather couches. The staff was very attentive and helpful. The breakfast was very very nice. The location to the center was very nice half-mile. We would definitely choose to use his hotel again if we were in Bologna.

The rooms are old but very clean and adequate in size. The hotel is not that close to the city center, you have to take a 10 minutes bus ride. The bus station is right in front of the hotel which is great. We were actually expecting something generally better.

We were in a short break in Bologna as part of our tour of northern Italy. Bologna is a lovely baroque city with lots of narrow streets full of lovely restaurants etc. This hotel is on a direct bus line into the city centre but only takes about 20 minutes to walk in. They also have a deal on secure parking across the road. Only ?7 for overnight was good value and I'd say it's advisable if you have a hire car as this seems a mixed neighbourhood. To be fair, Reception staff were very pleas... Read more

We were looking for a decent, affordable hotel, at a reasonable distance from the center. Grand Hotel Elite was a good choice. Clean, spaciouse rooms, good breakfast. Retro look, true, but this was no surprise, as this was mentioned on the reservation site. For us, the "vintage" aspect was not a problem, brought an extra charm to our city break. The receptionist was very nice. Bus station close to hotel, with direct connection to the airport.

Pleasant staff, good service and a comfortable spacious family room. A short taxi ride into the centre of town and to the airport. Bologne is a beautiful city with interesting architecture. Drinks with tapas in town very good value. Breakfast in the hotel has lots of variety for the family.

Nice room, friendly receptioniest and a good restaurant. I travel back here once again. The old downtown is near to the hotel, in front of the hotel is a bus stop, so the traffic is very good. From the airport we can go here with Aerobous, it has a stop near to the hotel.

I will start by saying this hotel is okay but not great. The reason I rate it so lowly is that it is billed as a 4 Star hotel and in my opinion fails to meet the mark. The hotel does not have a central location, being a 20/30 minute walk from the historic town centre. The decor i understand is done in a 70s style but feels dated and in need of renovation - more like original 70s than something done for the appearance. Staff are very friendly and helpful, just as I would expect in a 4 Star hot... Read more

Stayed here 2 nights in September 2016 and found it to be a very good hotel. Was given a large room with a double bed and 2 singles and a kitchen, which was huge as I was by myself. The bed was quite comfortable as was the room. It was a very 70's retro look to the room but only made a little more charming. The staff and the service at the hotel was outstanding, nothing was a problem for them. The gym was good to burn off all that extra pasta you eat. Don't let the location distract you the buss... We decided to stay at this hotel because it was listed as a 4-star hotel for only 66 euros/night. Not bad, right? Not so fast. Here's a list of pros/cons from our stay. Pros: - Lobby was very nice - Service was great - Price was fantastic - Room was pretty big Cons: - Just a touch too far from the city center (about a mile walk) - Walls were made up of these old wooden panels, and all the furniture was the same color wood. It just looked old and somewhat cheap - The floor was a weird tile colo... Read more

We arrived late as Bologna FC were playing and traffic goes static - 1 hour for the last 3 km! So advise you check if they are playing. Hotel accommodation was initially a little disappointing, like another respondent I changed opinion when I realised the price. I wouldn't however recommend the restaurant, you can easily do better within a short walk. I did and wouldn't again, as it is easily bettered. Breakfast however was fine, a complete about turn on previous night. Overall the decor is a b... Read more

Having stayed in Rimini, we were spoiled with good service and a smile. Bologna on arrival is a lovely city and we had a nice stay. But the hotel was maybe a 2 star in the UK. It's dated. There was Bologna Press Magazine printed in English in reception that was racist and poorly written, I don't know why it was given to us. We went in the bar but it was rowdy and we couldn't get the attention of the staff. Check in was nice, Check out was hard work. Location is ok, but a good 15/20 mins walk. I ... Read more

A nice and well positioned hotel, but definitely not a 4* one. Good location and nice staff, but many thinks minus - only water in minibar, no sleepers, very noisy room, breakfast buffet poor with very cheap food. The only plus was that the price for the room was small ;)

Hotel decor generally is slightly outdated but it works! The room was a very good size and we loved our stay there. The staff on the front desk were very happy to help and solved any problems we had. Only slight issue was with one of the breakfast women, who asked us for our room number. This would have been accepted as standard procedure, however we were the only guests asked. Made us feel slightly uncomfortable. However overall, we would stay there again :)

If you are the kind of person that needs to go to the toilet from time to time, this hotel is not for you. This was by far the worst hotel experience of my life. I received a room with a broken toilet, requested to receive a different room, was denied and promised the toilet would be fixed. Nothing was fixed, and eventually my entire stay in the hotel was without a working toilet. Terrible service, horrid rooms. Cracked walls and bugs in the rooms. Dubious man affiliated with the hotel came to open the windows in my room without warning or explanation. Absurd "no water" service at the restaurant. No outside food or drinks allowed despite a terrifyingly poor restaurant with limited hours (this policy is reinforced on every room, elevator, and hotel stationary, warning or additional "cleaning surcharge for any audacious outside foods). Rude waiter. See others' reviews below... Read more

Rooms are cramped, dull and musty, they do not look to have been updated since the early 70's. The Hotel bar carries a poor selection, the beer dispensing machine (not a beer tap) was always broken. Breakfast looked so terrible we decided to leave before eating anything, needless to say, did not try supper in the 'cordon bleu' restaurant! We decided to check out early with no offer of any discount at all. The twin room was priced at over 150 euro per night.

I stayed for two nights at the hotel. I stayed in a family room for 5 people. At first I was suprised by the old fashioned style of the hotel. The room was clean and spacious. But in the hotel they should remove the dust more.. The breakfast is great. The staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel is a good value for money.
