The hotel is very well located, in front of the city's train station. It is in the limit of the historical city center, so you can go every where by foot. There are a lot of restaurants, bars and supermarkets nearby. The rooms are simple, a bit old, but clean and functional. The mattress and pillows are great. The breakfast is a little expensive in my opinion. Overall a great and practical place to use as a base to explore the city and surroundings.

Conveniently located by train station. We had privilege room. Great bed, quality sheets. Lovely terrace with views over Boligna. Nespresso machines didn't work in either of our two rooms (so check them as soon as you arrive). Good hotel, but note 70s decor.....not changed since I was there in 2001. On the plus side, garden where you can sip a drink or two and breakfast terrace.

We stayed for two nights at this hotel. Friendly personnel at the reception. The hotel is located at the central station. I advise to book a room with view at the lovely garden of the hotel. You will not notice you are at the center of Bologna. Breakkfast was not so great. Scrambled egg floated in water. Not tasteful. Rooms were fine!

The location of this property is perfect. Right in the heart of the city and just opposite the main railway station. However it seems this hotel has not received any renovations for a very long time. This is a real pity and my expectations from a Mercure hotel are normally higher. Because of this the rooms don't give a very fresh and clean look and feel. This included the entire bathroom. Breakfast was basic and no proper italian espresso/cappucino was served. This came from a machine. In genera... Read more

Because Bologna is a relatively small city (it takes about 30 minutes to walk from one side to the other) the location of your hotel is perhaps less important than it can be in other cities. The Mercure is located opposite the central bus station, which is also the terminus for the airport bus. So, if you‚??re travelling from the airport or plan to catch a train, then its location is very convenient. We asked for a quiet room, and they put us on the 7th floor, which was fine. Location is great, right across from Bologna central station but rooms are less than average. Room looked tired and couldn't get the temperature down with a few attempts on the control. Bathroom was oversize and looked kind of strange with the arrangement. And my room was not properly cleaned a couple of times, got hair in bathroom. As said in the title, I would only stay here for the location and nothing else.

I was there june 6 to 9. Breakfast was ok. They have a small garden near the bar where you can have a few things like salads and drinks. Hotel was ok, nothing special. There is a pizzería nearby and a small shop where you can buy minor things. There is also a chemist nearby. It is a fair hotel but needs some remodeling.

The hotel was friendly and clean with enough comfort rooms. I had requested an upper floor room and they satisfied my request which i think that it's very important. The place is great (only few steps away from the central train station) and very near to the city center (almost 15 minutes walk distance ). The hotel needs a refurbishment with their furniture. A great mid-level deal in the center of the city. Handy to everything, it's an excellent stay for the average traveler. Very clean rooms done in neo-modernist Euro finishes. Higher floors are hot in summer, though. Great lobby; good breakfast; chowhound restaurants just out the door in the university district. Parking for your tiny Italian rental car in the basement.

A few nights break in a clean and centrally located hotel that faces Central Station. The rooms was large as was the bed and it was kept immaculately clean but the room was in need of a refurbishment. The hotel lobby area was also clean and well air conditioned. Sadly, the same air conditioning does not apply to the bedrooms - although it worked, its impact was negligible, which meant 4 nights poor sleep in very hot and humid conditions. The rooms are a bit small and the curtains and carpets need to go...bathroom is good and spatious but needs some little tile refurbishment. More toiletries, ask the reception. This Mercure is an older hotel, but not in charming ways. The room decor and overall feel of the place is a bit stale. Still, the staff were friendly and helpful and everything clean, so it wasn't a bad choice. As a tourist, I wish I'd chosen a hotel in the historic district. Was really pleased with my choice of hotel. Stayed for three nights in a superior room. Big bed, nice toiletries, bathrobes, slippers and free cold drinks and a selection of coffees. I have stayed at much more expensive hotels and got less in room amenities. The staff were all pleasant and very helpful in answering questions. It was a short walk into Bologna central and we were ideally placed for a one day outing to Florence. The breakfast is not included in the price and although it was adequate w... Read more

Ideally located within close proximity to train station, particularly handy when travelling with large suitcases. Clean and comfortable with attentive staff as expected at a Mercure establishment. Great breakfast selection. Easy 15 minute walk to the historical area. Recommended.

Very pleasant, helpful staff on reception. Room was surprisingly spacious and the bathroom was a great size. Bed was really comfortable and the breakfast which was included in the price had everything you could have wished for. Would certainly return to this hotel which I highly recommend.

great location! we stayed in Bologna but travelled to some other places by train. the hotel is just in front of the Central Station that is very convenient. Hotel staff is very nice, friendly and very helpful. Breakfast is good. The hotel is quite old so the room (we stayed at 310 facing the back yard) ideally required some rennovation. But generally the hotel is really great and we enjoyed our stay.

As others have said the location is good for getting from the airport to the city without using taxis. Our room was a little tired but was clean & quiet as we faced the garden area. Breakfast was ok, nothing to write home about but enough to keep us going during the day. There are a few scruffy places to eat around the hotel so you will need to head out in the evening. Here are a few tips that might make your stay a bit easier if you decide to use the hotel: The Aerobus is 6 euro pp, make sure... Read more

This is my second year coming to Bologna for the annual tile show, Cersaie. This hotel was comfortable and in a good location right by the train station and bus stops to the fair. The room I was in was fine, however it did smell heavily of cigarette smoke which was a turnoff. I was able to open the windows to look out at the garden which helped alleviate it somewhat. I was happy there was a hot water kettle for tea and coffee. I happened to have a head cold and was taking the Italian version of ... Read more

We especially chose the Mercure Centro because, having been to Bologna before, we wanted to use the railway and go visit other places. In that respect it couldn't be better placed. We had booked a privilege room through the mercure website and the room is exactly as shown in the picture. Overall, the room was slightly tired but clean and could benefit from a spruce up.There is only 1 chair. So, if there are two of you, you can squabble who sits in the chair and who sits (lies, reads a book, fall... Read more

We were welcomed by a vey nice gentleman at Reception. The room was clean, the bathroom was very small & would not be suitable for anyone with a physical disability as the shower is over the bath. The room - in fact the whole hotel was very hot & there was no temperature control that worked in our room. We had to open the window & endure street noise etc all night. The breakfast offered great selection. The 'gentleman' who checked us out was rude, impatient, sarcastic & unhelpful!!!

The hotel location is well place for travelers, the parking is not included and you need to pay it separately because the owner is not the same. The people are good and really welcoming you when you arrive. The bed room is 30 years old, the wall are not paint and the tapestry are from the 80s. The bathroom was really from the 80s everything was from then, I rarely saw this in an hotel from this price and really not a mercure standard.... At the breakfast the guy try to make me pay for it instead... Read more

Good Location, just opposite to Bologna Central Station. Standard breakfast, I like hotel offers some fresh fruit. When we check in, 2 free welcome drink coupons are received and we tried 2 different non-alcoholic cocktail at night, it is good and good service from the bar. There is separate luggage room with lock control of reception counter. However, there is a small complaint that we have stated clearly one of delayed luggage arranged to deliver within next 2 days to Mercure when check in.... Read more

THIS IS THE WORST ACCOR HOTEL EVER VISITED!!!!!! Location is REALLY central, in front of train station, 2 minutes walk from the main shopping road, PERFECT. The hotel is INCREDIBLE!!!! i really do not understand how an hotel could be left in this conditions. The bed is confortable, room is 2 star category, toilet a shame. Lift are worst the ones in a train station. Still keys to open the door. The parking is NOT PROVIDED from hotel!!!!!! 20 euro per day!!!! SHAME!!!! Just have a look at the pic... Read more

We flew into Bologna airport and the shuttle bus stops at the central station and Hotel Mercure is less than 100 metres from there. We stayed a couple of nights. The room was spacious and clean. The bathroom was a decent size and there was also a small area to sit and relax if you wanted to read. Our room also had a small balcony and overlooked a beautiful park. Service was very good. We did not eat in the hotel as there were several restaurants close by. We did enjoy a drink in the bar which w... Read more

Enjoyed a three night stay. Rooms are typical for a modern chain; clean and functional. Location means that many guests are 1 night travellers. Car parking is via an arrangement with a nearby secure parking company. The breakfast room was busy but fare was adequate. The location is a 15 minute walk from the centre of the city.

We stayed for 3 nights and found the hotel location good for exploring the city. Unfortunately the hotel is a bit tired and in need of refurbishment. This is a busy hotel and it is obvious they don't have to try too hard to hit occupancy targets. The hotel room was very stuffy as the hotel turns off the A/C in October (as in Moscow) with heating the only option. The daytime temperatures were above average and so it was not so comfortable.

Next to the station but that's its best feature. Rooms were very warm, called and they offered to move us to a different room which was exactly the same. Were told that they wouldn't let us turn on the air con and they had no control over the weather. Couldn't open the window because of the noise by the station. (Tre Vecchi down the road where we ended up staying the next night had climate-control). Overall a very dated hotel which is 20 minutes walk from town.

You would say 4* Mercure in the city centre, what can go wrong? Pretty much everything honestly. The hotel is exactly how it was 20 years ago or so. Some people find it charming - me too by the way every now and than, but when you realise that the AC is probably that old as well, you reconsider after hearing it for 5 minutes. Everything is old - not old-fashioned, OLD. The noise of the toilet flush is fun for 2-3 times, but than drives you crazy, especially so in the night, when the toilet is no... Read more

We have stayed at this hotel previously on a visit to Bologna and following that trip the obvious choice was easy on a hotel for our return. The staff are welcoming and the hotel and rooms were clean and tidy. I always stay in a privilege room on the fifth floor as the slightly extra cost is worth it. The location is excellent, the train station is opposite and the walk to the historic center through the busy shopping street takes around 25 minutes or a bus is just around the corner if preferred... Not the most stylish hotel, sufering from some ageing, nevertheless the hotel location, right in front of the railway station is ideal to pick up fair and airport buses not to mention being right around the corner from bologna City centre. Spacy rooms (double twin), good breakfast and decent wifi. If in bologna for work i recomend it.

The main reason for choosing this hotel is its location. It is right opposite the train station which was ideal for me because I did day trips by train. It is also the stop for the airport shuttle. But it is far from the historic centre. For me it was a half hour walk. It is worth using the bus from the station. I found No. 30 was very useful. You can get tickets from the newspaper kiosk inside the station. The lobby is spacious and furnished with extremely comfortable armchairs and sofas and lo... Read more

Good, clean, convenient hotel for business or family travelers. You can't get any closer to the train is right across the street.
