The hotel is very well located, in front of the city's train station. It is in the limit of the historical city center, so you can go every where by foot. There are a lot of restaurants, bars and supermarkets nearby. The rooms are simple, a bit old, but clean and functional. The mattress and pillows are great. The breakfast is a little expensive in my opinion. Overall a great and practical place to use as a base to explore the city and surroundings.

Conveniently located by train station. We had privilege room. Great bed, quality sheets. Lovely terrace with views over Boligna. Nespresso machines didn't work in either of our two rooms (so check them as soon as you arrive). Good hotel, but note 70s decor.....not changed since I was there in 2001. On the plus side, garden where you can sip a drink or two and breakfast terrace.

We stayed for two nights at this hotel. Friendly personnel at the reception. The hotel is located at the central station. I advise to book a room with view at the lovely garden of the hotel. You will not notice you are at the center of Bologna. Breakkfast was not so great. Scrambled egg floated in water. Not tasteful. Rooms were fine!

The location of this property is perfect. Right in the heart of the city and just opposite the main railway station. However it seems this hotel has not received any renovations for a very long time. This is a real pity and my expectations from a Mercure hotel are normally higher. Because of this the rooms don't give a very fresh and clean look and feel. This included the entire bathroom. Breakfast was basic and no proper italian espresso/cappucino was served. This came from a machine. In genera... Read more

Because Bologna is a relatively small city (it takes about 30 minutes to walk from one side to the other) the location of your hotel is perhaps less important than it can be in other cities. The Mercure is located opposite the central bus station, which is also the terminus for the airport bus. So, if you‚??re travelling from the airport or plan to catch a train, then its location is very convenient. We asked for a quiet room, and they put us on the 7th floor, which was fine. Location is great, right across from Bologna central station but rooms are less than average. Room looked tired and couldn't get the temperature down with a few attempts on the control. Bathroom was oversize and looked kind of strange with the arrangement. And my room was not properly cleaned a couple of times, got hair in bathroom. As said in the title, I would only stay here for the location and nothing else.

I was there june 6 to 9. Breakfast was ok. They have a small garden near the bar where you can have a few things like salads and drinks. Hotel was ok, nothing special. There is a pizzería nearby and a small shop where you can buy minor things. There is also a chemist nearby. It is a fair hotel but needs some remodeling.

The hotel was friendly and clean with enough comfort rooms. I had requested an upper floor room and they satisfied my request which i think that it's very important. The place is great (only few steps away from the central train station) and very near to the city center (almost 15 minutes walk distance ). The hotel needs a refurbishment with their furniture. Check in/Check out desk....Works amazing!

A great mid-level deal in the center of the city. Handy to everything, it's an excellent stay for the average traveler. Very clean rooms done in neo-modernist Euro finishes. Higher floors are hot in summer, though. Great lobby; good breakfast; chowhound restaurants just out the door in the university district. Parking for your tiny Italian rental car in the basement.

A few nights break in a clean and centrally located hotel that faces Central Station. The rooms was large as was the bed and it was kept immaculately clean but the room was in need of a refurbishment. The hotel lobby area was also clean and well air conditioned. Sadly, the same air conditioning does not apply to the bedrooms - although it worked, its impact was negligible, which meant 4 nights poor sleep in very hot and humid conditions. Nice hotel, great staff (specially the guy in the bar). You have a kind of "backyard" that's not expected to be found in a hotel right in front a central train station. Try having a expresso or a glass of wine in in this area....

It is right across the train station, and the bus stop coming from the airport, so location is excellent. The hotel is calm, nice atmosphere. The rooms are a bit small and the curtains and carpets need to go...bathroom is good and spatious but needs some little tile refurbishment. More toiletries, ask the reception. Nice location, nice bar, good breakfast and on the other side of the street is the train station so easy to reach as well by public transport. This Mercure is an older hotel, but not in charming ways. The room decor and overall feel of the place is a bit stale. Still, the staff were friendly and helpful and everything clean, so it wasn't a bad choice. As a tourist, I wish I'd chosen a hotel in the historic district. The Mercure is an easy 15-minute walk from all the sights, but the area in between the two was full of graffiti and felt slightly unsafe after dark.
