For a 4-star hotel would rate this 3-3.5; Pros: -lovely continental breakfast with good bread, cheese, meats, pastries etc -impressive lobby and communal areas -balcony overlooking the square but well sound-proofed so the room was quiet -nice bathroom with toiletries and robes/basic slippers -excellent central location Areas to improve: -for a 4* hotel, towels were very starched / dry (=>old and could do with an update) -Wifi was an issue; we weren't told at check in that you need a unique us... The location is unbeatable as the main square Piazza Maggiore is just down the street and around the corner. So we visited at our leisure Basilica San Petronius, the renowned University of Bologna with its beautiful halls open to the public, St Stefano church(es), and enjoyed the food (restaurant and street) all within very short walking distance! The room was charming and stylish, and the one reason for its not getting a 5-star is because the wifi was a little erratic (even after using the use... Read more

You cannot get a better location than this when visiting Bologna. Right near Piazza Magiorre and all the key sites are within walkable distance. The rooms are spacious and the staff very welcoming and helpful with directions and information. The breakfast is excellent. Great variety of continental choices - fresh and plenty to choose from. The breakfast staff also very good at remembering your coffee order (I only had to let them know on my first day and every other day it was delivered just aft... Read more

This is a stylish hotel on a peaceful piazza and only 3 minutes stroll to Piazza Maggiore. The reception team were v helpful as were other staff members. Good room - nicely furnished but compact. Fine for a 3 night stay. Breakfast was a continental buffet and excellent coffee was made to order. However there are a limited number of tables for breakfast so you may have to wait to be seated - we were OK - just lucky - but some guests were frustrated at having to wait a while.

Great location. A good solid property but overpriced. We were not happy with our first room and they moved us to an excellent room with a terrace. Parking is tricky ax you need to park in a parter hotel if the main plaza. Bologna is a fantastic destination and I'd stay here again and just accept the price.

There are so many positive things to say about the Hotel Novecento. I reserved a single room which was small (as expected based on the information provided at booking) yet comfortable especially after a long flight and two train rides to Bologna. The room, which was ready prior to the standard check-in time, looked exactly like it does on the hotel website--sleek and modern. The self-regulated air conditioning worked well (it did not take long to cool the room down) and the lighting was good.... Read more

We had a lovely stay at Hotel Novecento with excellent service. The hotel is small and intimate with great attention to detail. We were given the room 404 on the top floor which was charming, very comfortable and stylish decorated. The location of this hotel is right in the centre and only minutes walk from Piazza Maggiore where you can explore the old town . The breakfast was continental buffet with excellent selections of cheeses, cold meats, fruits, breads, Pastries, cereals and lovely coffee... Read more

We stayed for a short city break so the location, only a few minutes walk from all the city attractions, was perfect. The staff were very helpful indeed, nothing was too much trouble and they helped us to arrange restaurants, taxis etc. We paid a little extra for a deluxe room and I was initially a little disappointed with the size but it was well appointed, comfortable and we had spectacular rooftop views. Wifi was very good though, strong signal throughout and reasonably quick. The breakfast ... Read more

Stayed for one night on our "giro d'Italia". The hotel was modern, clean and the location was perfect! We arrived by car and it was no problem getting to the hotel through the city by car, or parking at a sister hotel. We got an upgrade to a suite deluxe - it was located in another building which made access, checking in and out a bit more tiresome than if we had just gotten one of the basic rooms. However, we won't complain about getting the upgrade!! The staff was overall friendly but Englis... Read more
