Booked the hotel as it is close to the train station, around 5 mins walk from the station back entrance . We arrived early and were able to leave our bags. Check in staff provided us with a map and we were in the main square in an easy 30 minutes walk. On checking in our room 208 was relatively small but clean contained a very comfortable king sized bed and a walk in wardrobe. This had a mini bar and safe. There was a large kettle and various teas and coffees. The bathroom was long and thin, but... Read more

This hotel was our first stop on a long visit to Italy. Unfortunately, we arrived quite late due to airline issues, and had trouble locating the hotel in the evening. Upon arriving, we were greeted well and given room assignments. The rooms were fine; nothing spectacular (and my grown children's room with twin beds was especially tiny), but we did OK. We were so tired and very hungry, so we asked the front desk person for a recommendation in walking distance. We were happy when she found reser... Read more

Stayed there as a family for one night. While the staff was really nice, the hotel was not. It looks nice if you don't pay attention to details - our room was tiny, dirty, wallpaper outdated, scratched, same in bathroom ; not a pleasant experience. The spa wasn't on (in repair so I can't comment here) but the gym .. well it's not - 5 tired machines (1 broken), basically no one check this area. It's a shame as, as mentioned above staff is friendly and breakfast was nice.

From location to amenities to price to courtesy of the staff, Il Guercino met and exceeded my expectations. The room was comfortable, clean and quiet. A full breakfast is included, as well as free WiFi. It's a 5-minute walk from Bologna Centrale, a 15-minute walk to the major sights in the city, and. numerous good recommendations for restaurants nearby. I had an urgent business matter come up during my stay and the staff handled it perfectly.

Our first impression was that our room was very nice, but small specially the shower. We talked to the lady at the front desk and she offered to move us to a room in the new wing which had a bigger shower and we took her up on that offer. Everyone we encountered from the staff was very helpful. They gave us tips on restaurants nearby, one of which, Trattoria Papa Re, was our favorite. Travelled with 2 friends, and this was one of the few hotels with three bed rooms. There were twin beds and a day bed. I slept on the day bed, and it was basically a proper single bed thinly disguised as a sofa - v. comfortable. Decent shower but no bath. Nice and plentiful breakfast. Wasn't too keen on the somewhat trippy wallpaper, and the room was a little dark, but all fresh and clean. The rooms are quite comfortable and the breakfast more than sufficient to suit all tastes. One bonus is the facility for taking breakfast in the outside courtyard. Stayed in room 105 which has early morning sun --ideal for the early morning coffee taken on the verandah.

We had been to Milan and Venice prior to checking in to this little gem. From the start we were made to feel at home. Nothing was too much trouble. The hospitality was remarkable from Tiziana and her team. Special accommodations were made for us at breakfast and a room upgrade was done with no issue. We just returned from a 3 night stay. The hotel is in a perfect location just behind the Bologna Centrale train station & about a 15 minute walk down into the town centre. It was lovely & quiet. Booked a superior room, although it was rather small (& I'm not sure what was superior about it) it was spotless & comfortable. It had a small terrace but we never used it. We made a last minute reservation for a very cheap price, so we were not expecting such beautiful rooms. The hotel is close to the railway station and to the city centre. Breakfast is a plus. Definitely recommended.

We spent a few days in Bologna and decided to stay in this absolutely great hotel. What a good choice we made! We stayed in the junior suite and enjoyed all the luxeries of a huge room, inclusive a jet bath tub and a balcony. The staff is brilliant, do not hesitate to ask how to go to some places if you are not sure. They are really helpful and kind. A special note for celiacs: glutenfree crackers and sweets are available for breakfast! The breakfast buffet caters for all the needs. We especiall... Read more

When we first arrived at this hotel I have to admit to being a little disappointed as our room was quite small and dark and very unlike what we had seen online. However the friendliness of the staff and their willingness to try and help totally surpassed any initial reservations I had. They showed us another three rooms and weren't a bit put out when we decided to stay where we were. Communal areas of the hotel are nice and uniquely furnished and the breakfast was good and staffed by friendly an... Read more
