Room 214 was quiet and spacious. The bathroom was also quite large. Everything was perfectly clean and comfortable. I particularly want to acknowledge the staff who recommended a great restaurant nearby Montegrappa Pizzeria and Ristorante, and also the helpful staff members who responded to my email from the fast train to Rome: "please send my husband's jacket, left in the room in Bologna to our hotel in Rome before we fly back to the states." They had only a couple of days and they made it h... Read more

This was one of my favorite hotels in Bologna if not my No. 1 Choice. During my visit in December 2015 rates were still around EUR 140 for a double single use (average rates in the last two years were ranging between EUR 130-150 which is the right price for this hotel in my view). Unfortunately, in 2016 rates have significantly increased. I have been there mid of February (no peak season no trade fairs) and I have paid EUR 200 per night for a double single use (including a discount as I was a lo... Read more

Hotel Corona d'Oro is right in the centre of Bologna, just a five minute walk from the high street and two towers which makes it the perfect base for a weekend in the city. The whole hotel is elegantly and classically decorated in shades of cream with gold and terracotta accents. The lounge is a glazed courtyard where tapas and drinks are available for ?10 each evening. The breakfast buffet was very extensive, served in a bright basement dining room and the service was cheerful and prompt. Ou... Read more

What a joy and delight to stay at Hotel Corona d'Oro 1890! Everything about it speaks of comfort. My husband and I ended our vacation in Italy in Bologna. The hotel was so convenient to all the sights and wonderful restaurants the city has to offer. Despite the central location, the hotel was extremely quiet. The bed was soft, comfortable, and well appointed (unusual for Italy. The bathroom was quite large and had a lovely huge bathtub with bath salts waiting for us! The staff was helpful arr... Read more

Our 2nd stay and we could find no faults. Very attractive hotel and room. Helpful staff. Excellent location in a fun, undiscovered city. Plenty of sightseeing and amazing food. Dispite what Rick Steves says about Bologna, it is definitely a city worth a 2 or 3 day visit.

I think we were room 312 top floor with its own little balcony which smelt of sweet jasmine. We arrived late and immediately ordered breakfast in our room as we had the balcony. Just perfect for one night stop . Bologna was amazing the Saturday market was stunning with lots of beautiful shops. We loved looking around and found the most amazing deli around the corner from the hotel and we ordered our lunch in a pot to eat on our onward journey. the hotel was central and just a perfect room even t... The location is excellent. Many of Bologna's sights are within a short walk, and there are numerous restaurants nearby. The breakfast buffet was wonderful, and the hotel staff was friendly, professional, and accommodating. I will definitely stay there on my next trip to Bologna!

Great location for culture and cuisine. Friendly and helpful staff and comfortable room. Highly recommend. If you want a corporate hotel or "bling", you need to choose somewhere else. Value for money.

We really liked this hotel - slap bang in the heart of Bologna, and yet, if you get a room overlooking the central courtyard, it's like being in the countryside. It's a traditional rather elegant old place, so no bling needed or wanted. Helpful pleasant staff, and a pretty good breakfast too. The WiFi works, the room was comfortable, and the bathroom was good. Nothing to grumble about, and much to cheer, so highly recommended.

What a find. this hotel is wonderful. our room had a balcony which looked on to a enclosed courtyard. The room was a little small but the balcony made up for. The photos of the hotel on-line are much better than the actual appearance. We paid over $450 per night for a room that was less than average. We spoke to the manager about the cost, especially after I noticed that the hotel was advertising rooms for $299 per night, and he showed us a room a little smaller, but not to demonstrate a difference in price. He brought some slippers to the room, a bottle of cheap prosecco, nuts, etc to hopefully appease us. Since we just got in from a long flight,... Read more

I made a last minute reservation and was not disappointed. The hotel is walkable from the train station. The location is perfect for exploring the city and shopping. The front desk was very nice and remembered who I was! I was escorted to my room and given a by chance tour of where the breakfast room is. I loved the decor of the room and the shower was awesome. I had terrace off my room which was great in the evening and early morning. The wifi worked! There was chocolate and candies in the roo... Read more

After a mix up with rooms and ending up with a classic instead of a deluxe we were moved into the deluxe in the evening. To make up for the mistake they gave us a bottle of wine and through in the parking for free. The rooms in the hotel are as you would expect from the website photos. The hoteliers clean and the breakfast was good. We left my wife's bridal top behind which she was distraught about and they found it and are sending it home for us. Thank you for your help we will be back.

This hotel is central and smart. We stayed in a luxury double room which had a big comfortable bed. The bathroom was spacious with all necessities neatly packed out. The hotel's lounge is luxurious and has a happy hour daily at 18h00. Breakfast is served in the basement. It is delicious with a great variety available. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful, We spent 3 glorious days there

In the old part of Bologna, "ghetto ibraico" very close to the "Due torri" the Hotel Corona d'oro is worth to stay if you get a good deal for example via booking.com a single room including breakfast during the week for approx 119,- Euro. Single rooms are small, the bathroom might be nearly bigger as the room, but they are of high quality including all amenities you expect from a good hotel, good bed, nice and well planned bathroom, mini bar, coffee and tea making facility (which is rare in I... We stayed for only one evening in this lovely hotel but really appreciated its central location and the comfort it offered. The room was fairly compact but The quality of the furniture and fittings made up for this. Lovely bathroom. We struggled to find the hotel as our sat nav sent us down several wrong streets but we'll know better the next time! The staff were friendly and efficient and the whole operation oozed class. Hope to return.

Poor service, inconvenient parking, and extremely basic rooms is what you can expect. Granted, we knew we weren't reserving a room at a 5 star hotel, but even for this level, we expected more. Emailed the hotel no less than 5 times for dinner reservations with no reply. The parking (?35) is at least a 10 minute walk from the hotel so unless you have only a carry on, it's extremely inconvenient. As for the rooms, they were clean, but at the very lowest level of basic. Towels are few and th... Read more

Great reception from English speaking staff, wouldn't recommend driving here though. Car parking area seemed a little dodgey with locals possibly waiting for a hot meal. The deluxe room was a decent size and loved the turn down service which included a bowl of fruit. The hotel prepared our room for a 9am check in which was impressive. Initially booked through booking.com but my booking was not recognised. The breakfast buffet was to die for - twice baked ricotta cheese cake and even prosecco on ... Read more

We stayed in the junior suite, which was ample in size and gave us a nice view of the bustling side streets. The room was clean and nicely decorated. The bathroom was a good size and the staff were extremely warm, accommodating and helpful. The location of the hotel is excellent and it is walking distance from the main shopping areas and tourist sites.
