Pleasant helpful staff, nothing too much trouble. Fantastic breakfast - a lot of thought had gone into the choice and preparation. Location close to everything you could possibly want to do - we were only there 24 hrs so needed to cram a lot in. Would highly recommend

Great location with really helpful staff. They really couldn't have been more helpful with advice, suggestions and making reservations for us at restaurants. As you might expect from the name - lots of clocks in the place - but (quaintly) none of them wound up so all sorts of different hours of the day shown on them. Good value.

Our recent stay of 3 nights was excellent. I was arriving early in the morning in Bologna, and requested an early check-in, and the hotel replied that they would do the best they could. Not only did I get an early check.in, but they upgraded me to a suite! Excellent variety at breakfast worthy of a 5-star hotel, pleasant efficient staff, and fanttastic location just stpes from Piazza Maggiore. Very comfortable bed and nice linens. Highly receommended.

This hotel is a real gem right in the heart of Medieval Bologna. Just steps away from the main piazza, Cathedral, library, and the University of Bologna, it is a comfortable and stylish oasis in the heart of a beautiful Northern Italian city. Our room boasted a wonderful view of the crenelated tops of the fortresses that surround the city center, along with a view of the famous towers of Bologna. The room itself was spacious, nicely appointed, and tastefully decorated. The bathroom was adorned w... Read more

Great location, literally next to the main square. Hotel staff is very accommodating since there is no bar or restaurant, (but breakfast is great). Be prepared to walk a flight of stairs to get to the elevator, no big deal, just be ready. Rooms are spacious and clean. Very loud street noise at night, even with the double windows closed, but this is a big university city, many parties and celebrations going on into the night.

My husband and I spent several days in May, 2016 in Bologna, staying at the Art Hotel Orologio. It is located at the Piazza Maggiore in the heart of the medieval area of the city. The service was impeccable. Everyone on the staff was eager to assist us in any way, even helping us buy last-minute tickets for the opera. The breakfast was copious and was served in a cheerful breakfast room. A special treat was the cappuccino coffee each morning. The room was very clean, comfortable and large... Read more

This is a really lovely hotel right in the centre of Bologna, 20 yards from the Piazza Maggiore. We stayed for 4 nights and had an excellent time. The staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast in the morning is self service and has plenty of choice for even the fussiest. The room is air conditioned and has its own control panel so you can be as warm or cold as you like. The decor is excellent and of a high standard. I wanted to take the entire marble bathroom home with me but it wouldn't fit... Read more

Quite small hotel, staff very friendly and professional at the same time. Breakfast also really good. Out from the door of the hotel and you are in the medieval hearth of Bologna in the pedestrian area. I was Born in Bologna and in this hotel I felt at home. Last but not least great value for money.

We stayed in this hotel with our 4mo baby and our dog and couldn't have been happier. Rooms were clean and spacious, the staff was friendly and the location is fantastic!! Breakfast spread is great too. I couldn't ask more of this place, I would definitely recommend it.

Stayed for a couple of nights. Breakfast was good and the boiled eggs spot on. Big big plus, this the first hotel in yonks that has adequate lighting to read by in your room. So many hotels have such dim lighting you just give up and turn the lights out. Bed firm but comfortable and the pillows ok

Great location. Lovely friendly welcome. Lift only from 1st floor upwards so mobility impaired people should avoid. Big room was delightful, modern, super comfy bed and really nice bathroom. Great breakfast laid out on first floor. Don't attempt to drive and park in city centre, you are bound to get a ticket for contacting some access rule. Take a cab from the airport, you don't need a car in Bolognia.

We could not have been happier with this quaint hotel - its location, customer service, room quality, cleanliness, and breakfast. The only negative with this property is that the check in desk and staircase carpet is in need of updating. Otherwise, you absolutely cannot go wrong with the Orologico and a stay in Bologna! Bellisimo!

This hotel was just great. I was traveling with my 80 yr old parents and two 17yr olds. The front desk was responsive, kind. Open 24hrs. The rooms were air conditioned, clean (I love crisp ironed pillowcases), the beds comfortable and plenty of hot water. My 80yr old mum cried when she look out of her window (rm 52) it was what she "also thought Italy would look like". The location is perfect, just slightly off the main square. It's a nice walk to the train station and in the middle of everything that is anything. It's a little difficult to find, but look for the red carpet to welcome you in the piazza and you'll know you found it. Great restaurant behind it with the best pizza.

We stayed in a room with a balcony you could see the main square from. The room was beautifully presented, as we the breakfast and the location couldn't have been better. The service was also great, lots of good advice and staff were very friendly. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone coming to the city of Bologna!

We love staying in small hotels in the centre of towns we visit. Orologio was just Perfect for us, Central location Within short walking distance to most of the sights, restaurants etc that we wanted to visit. As an added bonus we had free cinema and concerts on the Piazza Maggiore. The hotel is rather quirky, the lift starts one floor up from reception but the standard was just right. View from our room over the Piazza and a breakfast buffet we seldom get in even top end hotels. Friendly and he... Read more

This amazing hotel is a little gem, just off the main Piazza Maggiore and central to explore the city. Friendly, helpful staff, rooms spotless, cleaned daily and a fabulous choice of breakfast with coffee freshly made to order. Lovely decor and our spacious suite looked out towards the Piazza. Can't fault it - we hope to return. ?

This hotel should get 5 start just for its location, right I the heart of Bologna. The hotel is absolutely charming. The stuff are very friendly and helpful. We had a very nice room for 3 people with a specious bathroom. The hotel also provides you an option to reserve parking in advance. It also provides great breakfast.

This is a lovely quaint hotel with the most charming and helpful staff. Our room was beautifully clean with a very comfortable bed and an amazing view of the central square. Despite being so central it was never noisy. The staff couldn't be more helpful, booking a taxi for us and getting breakfast bags together for our 4 30am check out. I would highly recommend this hotel

This is a lovely charming hotel in a great central location just off the Piazza Maggiore. On arrival both pre-booked rooms were upgraded from standard to deluxe doubles, which was a pleasant start to our stay in Bologna. This hotel couldn't be more central to Bologna. This is a nice sized hotel with pleasant staff at a good price. I was concerned about the drive into center city, but the photo / written directions were good (they sent them to me in Italian, but I found them in English after a Google search). Our GPS was likewise great. Be ready to negotiate tight spaces. If you aren't, you shouldn't be driving in Italy. Also, if driving in, be sure to reserve parking ahead. This very nice and Italian, unspoiled hotel is in the best possible location om Bologna. A minutes walk from Piazza Maggiore. Large rooms, we got a lovely room facing the front, a little square. Great breakfast and complimentary cakes and Italian liqour in the afternoon. So sweet. This is not a cool, hip hotel, but it is Italian and that's what we are looking for when in another country.

A stone's throw from the Piazza Maggiore in the pedestrian precinct in the heart of central Bologna, the hotel is only indicated by a modest 'Albergo' sign outside. The rooms are well appointed, spacious and quiet. Presumably it was a substantial private residence before to judge by a curiosity: the lift only starts above the first floor, but there are very helpful staff to assist with carrying up the luggage. Literally a few steps from the Piazza Maggiore this hotel is excellently located for exploring the city of Bologna. Room smallish but we'll equipped with a safe, mini bar and kettle. Pro: Great location to explore the old town and the staff at breakfast was friendly and attentive. Con: We booked junior suite where upon check-in was told, we have been upgraded to suite with its own side entrance. Little did we know, instead of suite, we were given the studio, which is in building next door. Yes, it was spacious, but if you are a light sleeper, this is not a room for you. We stayed five nights at Hotel Orologio in October 2016. The entire experience from beginning to end was flawless. This is an art hotel that is accommodating to travelers without being touristy. The staff are professional, courteous, and English-friendly. The breakfast buffet was the best of our trip in Italy - a wonderful array of meats, cheeses, fresh fruit, breads, cakes, pastries all befitting this food rich city. I have stayed in this hotel for 4 nights in the Piazza Maggiore suite for an average nightly rate of 450 Eur. Let me start at the beginning, the reception area is very small and dirty, the bell "boy" is older then my father so I felt quite stupid when he was carrying the luggage, I tried to tell him I will do it but he insisted, the problem was that my suite was on the 5th floor but there is an elevator only from the 2nd so you walk two levels... Greeted by happy, helpful staff and had been given a room with a small balcony, which was lovely. The hotel is perfectly positioned being central to this historic city. The hotel was very clean and the bed extremely comfortable. Chocolates and a bottle of bubbly was left for us on our first night! The breakfast was the best I have had, fresh and tasty, especially the poached pears, which I asked for more and were happily given from the chef.

A very cute and comfortable hotel. Perfectly situated in the heart of town and close to all attractions. It looks a little dated and the fittings certainly are a little old, but I think it added to the charm. The breakfast in the morning was a sizeable offering and filled us completely before our day of exploration. Friendly staff made for a memorable stay. Price point a little steep.

Very happy with our room which was clean, spacious and beautifully decorated. Some reviewers have referred to the noise from outside but didn't bother us as it is exactly what you'd expect from a hotel so close to the Piazza Maggiore! Stunning location as you are literally 30 seconds from the square. Breakfast was lovely too with lots of choice of continental style food. Would definitely stay here again
