This is a very nice and elegant hotel. Big rooms, wonderfully appointed, great staff, good class all around. We did not try the breakfast. It is within a 5-minute walk from Bologna Centrale in one direction, and 10-minute walk to Piazza Maggiore on the other. Great location and near excellent restaurants and shopping

Centrally located hotel. Really easy walk from train station where the airport bus stops. Lovely welcome by reception, who were helpful and friendly for our visit. We were lucky to have booked the suite for 3 of us, which proved to be a great choice. Vast suite with massive living space, dining area and two bedrooms. One ensuite bathroom with shower and another with a room just for the shower. Wonderful. Lovely fresh fruit replenished daily. A balcony to the front of the suite and then a spiral ... Read more

Stayed here for 2 nights and really enjoyed Bologna. The hotel is a short walk from the Railway station and an enjoyable 15min walk through undercover porticos to Piazza Maggiore. There is a lovely feel to this place. We enjoyed the food and wine of the region along with aperol spritzers. Head to Via Peschere Vecche just left of Piazza Maggiore and highly recommend Simoni for charcuterie platters and wine The hotel itself is very pleasant. We were upgraded from a superior to a deluxe room which... Read more

This is a very smart hotel. It is nearer the edge of the old city than the centre, but it is still a very good location. The entrance is very imposing. I stayed in a standard room, but this was still plenty large enough, with a balcony, a good-sized bathroom, and a very tall ceiling. The air-con did not seem super-efficient, and there was a ticking in the room from some electrical control box. There was a complimentary drink on the terrace included in the room price. Breakfast is in a converted ... Read more

I found all of the staff very helpful. The front desk associates were professional, polite and extremely helpful. The service staff at the restaurant & lounge were pleasant & polite besides being helpful. I walked from the Train station to the hotel, apx a 10 minute walk, easy to handle. Also, the hotel is a 10 minute walk to the Old Town Center and attractions. Lastly, if you leave extremely early in the morning for the airport, contact the front desk to assist in lining up a taxi ride for the ... Read more

We just stayed one night in Bologna which is a lovely city. Wish we had more time. The hotel gave us a room upgrade to a suite (580) which was great. Unique modern style inside an old palazzo. Very well-located. We ate at their Michelin-starred restaurant.

Had a deluxe double room. Good sized room though slightly lacking in storage space. Kept emaculately clean. Reception staff helpful and spoke good English. We were lucky as our room had a terrace (worth asking for). Only downside was the Bistro which was average but recommend Trattoria Oberdan da Mario not too distant a walk away.

I Portici is conviently located between Bologna's Central Station and City Center. The hotel building must have a lot of history. My room had a high painted roof showing wine ranks and birds. It has all the comfort you would expect from a modern hotel: nice bed, good bath room facilities, WiFi etc. Friendly staff. Great service. Including a burning good night candle when you return to your room at night.

Proximity to the train station as well as the main Piazza are fantastic. Old palace turned into a hotel. Elegant with a great restaurant and second floor bar lounge. Good service and worth the stay. Rooms offer a variety of sizes.

The I Portici Hotel is a fair sized hotel nicely located in Via dell‚?? Indipendenza, a 10 minute walk from the railway station and 10 minute walk from the main town centre near Piazza Maggiore. We stayed for 3 nights. It is certainly not worth getting a taxi from the station. We managed walking with our cases easily. Via dell‚?? Indipendenza is a main street lined with pretty porticos, hence the name of the hotel. The porticos are very useful for keeping you in the shade when the sun is fier... Read more

It's a beautiful hotel but know where they are putting you. We're currently in room 321. Standard yes but by far the tiniest room I've been in in all of Italy. We are at the end of a hall by the stairwell where someone smokes constantly. Mentioned to the front desk but it doesn't seem to matter much. I've stayed in small rooms before but the level of hotel class and being in the "new" section one would think the room would cool easily. It wasn't till my husband complained tonight did we find out... Read more

I stayed here on a recent trip to Bologna. I cannot rate this hotel high enough. The building is centrally located, only 20 mins from the airport (15 euro in a taxi) and only 5 mins walk to the train station. The building is stunning and the staff so helpful. I was upgraded to a double room for free and it was beautiful. Lots of room and beautifully decorated. They have a PC and printer available to print boarding passes. The breakfast was 12 euro each for an excellent buffer or 10 euro f... Read more

Apart from the location near the station (but in any case too close for a cab, too far to walk if you have heavy luggage) I think this was a case of trying too hard. It looks quite modern and inviting walking in but staff were a bit stiff and not overly welcoming. While our room had windows, the bottom of them were above head height so we couldn't reach to open them or see out as they and were frosted so we did feel a bit claustrophobic. There were nice touches like a turndown service and a ... Read more

Misled by reviews and photos or would never have chosen this hotel. The elegant and spacious lobby belies rooms that are smaller than budget cruise ship cabins but with less flair. The hotel itself is a maze of rooms like an airport transit hotel, disorientating and user unfriendly. Very disappointed given high price ($150 pn) paid well in advance and not inclusive of breakfast. Now tarrif has gone down by 20Euro per night on Booking.com and some websites include breakfast but management refused... Read more

For a business trip this is a great hotel -free wifi, clean rooms, helpful staff, stacks of great restaurants (and gelato) near most of the attractions and bus from the airport stops close and a 5 min walk to the station. Would also be good for couples on holiday, and although there were children there I would say less to do for families (in the hotel). Bologna is a great place to visit, and not far by train to Venice if you wanted to try a couple of days of additional site seeing. Would rec... Read more

Truly comfortable accommodations -- two large beds in a large room. Everything inside was modern and well maintained. Great location near the train station. Helpful concierge -- told us how to DIY travel by train to an aceteria and a winery. I booked through hotels.com and found a great price. I highly recommend this hotel.

As part of our honeymoon, we stayed for 1 night at I Portici Hotel, Bologna. The location of this hotel was just a few minutes walk from the train station and straight down the road to lead to the few Bologna touristy sites. The room was beautiful, with a painted ceiling and spacious room / bathroom. There was a nice terrace wine bar, with a complimentary glass of wine waiting for us (make sure you hand over the ticket when you are paying the bill as we went back to use ours when i forgot to get... Nothing exceptional about the hotel per se, but very good overall - rooms, breakfast, location (takes about 10 minutes of walking to get to the very centre of the town). Their 'evening' restaurant is very good too with one of the best levels of service I have come across.

We stayed 2 nights in the beautiful hotel. We loved the feel of the rooms - modern finish in a grand old style room / painted high ceiling / and the lobby and breakfast area were both great spaces to spend time in. There is also a great bar on the 2nd level that joined onto the park. We did have the rooms that were facing the main road - so i did love the view of the building pop us - but i am a light sleeper, so even with the double glassed windows, the noise of cars did disturb my sleep a litt... We stayed at this hotel for two nights. The level of service was high both in the hotel and in the restaurant on the terrace. The restaurant was in a very nice setting on a candlelit terrace. The tagliatelle with ragu was excellent. The room was very modern but comfortable, our bed sheets were turned down every evening. We took a our dog Dizzy with us and he was made welcome.

Stayed here three nights in August. Parking is on site and secure but costs almost the same as one night at the hotel (75‚?¨) which we thought a little steep. Rooms are pleasant - we did not have a frescoed room which I would have liked - I assume you have to request this? Staff friendly but a little laid back and disinterested at times. Good location, only a short walk to the historic centre. Main gripe was concierge sending us walking to a restaurant that was actually closed on our first ... Read more

I booked this hotel as it is part of the SLH (Small luxury Hotel) range and once again, I wasn't disappointed. The hotel is love and service upon checkin was excellent. We were upgraded to a suite which was a wonderful room in the attic area with a very large bathroom area. The room was very clean and well presented and very comfortable. The hotel is situated in older building that have been completely renovated with a modern touch. It is one of the few hotels in Bologna that has an own parking (about 10 cars, not more). In walking distance to the center, the rooms feature original painted ceilings. Spacey, with air conditioning and a nice modern bathroom, the only improvement could be a second light in the bathroom. On the second floor there is a stunning bar adjacent to the park. The service was exquisite!

Very convenient location. Walking distance to train station.Room was clean and very comfortable. Staff could not have been nicer. Our first meal was, of course, pasta bolognese. Absolutely fabulous. We could actually view the pasta maker behind a glassed in kitchen. From there, we were invited by the maitre d' to tour a private dining room with a glass floor overlooking a wine cellar. The buffet breakfast was to die for. Impeccable service. Great experience overall.
