A lovely hotel in a fantastic position overlooking the sea in a very quiet area and only a pleasant 15 minute stroll from the old town centre of Alghero. We had a sea view room with a large balcony where we could sit and watch the sunsets across the bay. The room was large and very comfortable and well furnished with free soft drinks and water from the mini bar which were very welcome. Everywhere in the hotel was clean, spacious and well cared for. A great one night stay, go out for food. Smashing pool and sun lounge area. Great service, good off-road parking. But it was the off peak season. It's a short walk into the old quarter of Alghero, with great restaurants in pretty squares. The marina is also close, and so there is a good saunter to the marina bar.

Quietly located hotel with superb views. Dinner was a disappointment, expected table service but had to take our chances in the buffet restaurant. Choice of food and availability varied depending on the time we ate. Despite complaining, the lack of communication from the hotel and holiday rep, the matter was not resolved until the last night of our holiday. However the waiting staff in the buffet were pleasant and helpful.

We have just returned from a week staying at the Carlos V Hotel. The hotel rooms and service here are excellent but travelling so early in their season meant that it was not operating at the expected standard. We booked bed and breakfast so that we would have the choice of eating in the hotel or out at the many restaurants in the old town of Alghero. There was supposed to be two restaurants available within the hotel, one a buffet and one a la carte. The entire week we were there the buffet rest... Read more

Very high spec and quality you expect from a high rated hotel. It's a lovely walk along sea front to harbour and shops etc. (Approx 30-50 Mins). Food is of good quality but learnt to drop a course a night purely due to the amount of time it took and the amount. But once again it's a great hotel with a great sea bar each direction from hotel

My wife and I stayed here for a week. The room was great, the air-con perfect, breakfast was excellent, the swimming pool was fabulous, and what we loved most was that it was a 15 minute walk from the old town. Perfect! The only down side was, the first day we stayed, we had lunch in the bar. My wife had a cheese toastie, which was awful, and I had a wrap, which was completely tasteless. Not possible to get a sandwich! As a result, we did not try the restaurant in the evening, so we don't know w... Read more

This hotel is located just outside of the old town of Alghero and is a real gem. From the moment that we checked in we were made to feel very welcome. The staff are all very friendly and all of them speak excellent English. Nothing is too much trouble and they do everything with smiles on their faces. The room that we had faced on to the garden and was very spacious and comfortable. We will certainly return to this lovely island and would not hesitate to stay here again.

The hotel is nicely located near The Old Town with a sea view, however it is definitely not worth the money they charge per night or the 5 stars. First of all the water running out of the tap is brown for more than 15 minutes and bath shampoo and soap are provided by dispensers. The breakfast is very basic and not comparable to what other 5 star hotels provide at all. The service is not bad though, although they are not helpful with any complaints we made. We spent a week there and loved it! Even though it's not advertised as a family hotel, there are no issues at all with bringing a baby or a child there. Our son is only ten months, and everyone were so nice and helpful - especially in the restaurants where the baby chair arrived within the minute from arrival. We spent a lot of time at the pool area, and even though they have a childrens pool we only used the regular one as the water was warmer in there. Great area though, with many sunbeds and ... Lovely hotel but is used by business people as well. Sun beds could do with a mattress on - it is a 5*. Larger sturdier parasols would be good - they are flimsy and twice blew over. Restaurant - food could be hotter, breakfast - excellent, bistro needs more options in fridge!! Staff excellent and friendly. I stayed in a room on front with excellent sea views/sunsets. 15 minute walk into old town for food, but well worth it!! The hotel is on a road but no noise could be heard in room.

We had a huge room with balcony and sea view. However the bathroom was tiny! There was a large walk in shower with glass door but if you open the shower door it blocks the bathroom door. I could only sit on the toilet at an angle, designed by a man were my wife's comments. We were with a group who seemed to have had better bathrooms than us,so avoid room 422. The breakfast was a huge spread, fantastic choice and good service clearing the dirty plates. The hotel is a twenty minute walk to the ol... Read more

Great location for town and spectacular sunset views. Lunch, snacks and dinner very good Breakfast generally good but cooked items were sometimes tepid and coffee was stale tasting - tip ask staff to bring you a fresh latte what ch they will cheerfully do for you. Staff were very friendly and helpful throughout. Wi fi ok but connection speeds a bit hit and miss. Overall a very enjoyable stay at this hotel.

A lovely hotel, amazing aspect overlooking the ocean and has all the amenities of a 5 star hotel. We were upgraded to a Beach View room which was as good as it gets. Brilliant view from out room and balcony. Their restaurant, again on a covered terrace overlooking the ocean, is top shelf and the service was equal to it. One gripe, if you want a pool towel, you need to register at reception, then go and pick up a towel with the pool lifeguard, very tedious. Alhero is a lovely lovely town.

This hotel is on the cliff top just outside the old town of Alghero. It is a pleasant 15 minute stroll along the sea wall promenade to town, and you pass several bars and restaurants on the way. We stayed for a week, and on checking in were told we had been upgraded to a much bigger room. The room on the 1st floor was huge with a large bathroom and large balcony overlooking the sea, with lovely views. Breakfast was good, with plenty of choice. We did not eat in the restaurant for lunch or dinner... Read more

We're just back from a week at the Carlos V and had a thoroughly good time. Any negative points in my review are small and meant as constructive criticism although as a big refit of the hotel is imminent the whole review may become obsolete quite quickly anyway! The hotel is in a great location right by the sea. It's far enough away from town to be peaceful but near enough to stroll in fifteen minutes when required. It is built on a steep incline so you enter reception at street level but the re... Read more

Check-in was quick and efficient. A little bit disappointing that there was no offer to have our bags taken to our rooms. On arrival at the rooms one of the swipe keys didn't work, but a quick call to reception resulted in the maintenance engineer making a rapid appearance who decided that it was the lock that was faulty, which he soon replaced along with a new entry card. Rooms were extremely clean and very roomy. Although there is a very busy road in front of the hotel, once the double glazed ... Read more

Excellent hotel, excellent rooms, excellent pool area, excellent location for walking into Alghero town, very good food for breakfast lunch and dinner. Overall, a really great hotel with friendly staff. If you don't manage to book a sea facing room, drop them a line or two before you arrive and like us, you might be pleasantly surprised when you arrive that you have been upgraded!
