King David Hotel is evocative of the glamorous past but its standards are somewhat haphazard, tissues, towels, spoons etc were often not there. After a week's stay the soap stains on the towel rack were still there ! Very visable but never cleaned...though I did speak to the floor attendant . Why didn't I clean the soapy hand print? Because I wanted to see how long it would take for the cleaner to see it ! No one informs the guest that shabbat is strictly observed in this hotel and so on Shabbat... Read more

Beautiful hotel, built around 1920 by the British, gorgeous design, paneling, decorated ceilings. Reminiscent of the Titanic, but not as wet. The biggest breakfast buffet ever seen: at least 100 items, quite delicious. Or, you can order something cooked up, although I thought the buffet was better. Located 2 blocks from the Jaffa Gate of the Old Town and very close to numerous restaurants and shopping. This is the hotel that heads of state stay at and there is set into the floor of the lob... A lovely historical property which has hosted many head of states and celebrities like Richard Nixon, Tony Blair, Jacqueline Onassis, Mikhail Gorbachov etc. It has preserved its old day charm and is a gorgeous property. The room was spacious and comfortable. The location is excellent and the restaurants had delicious veg food.

It's storied background is an educational experience in itself. Stayed with the family and they are one of the few hotels we've stayed in that have the option of having two rooms separated by a third door entryway that can be used (and locked) or remain open (and lock the individual rooms. (tip - if you have younger kids - the front desk can make your one room key open all 3 doors - but you have to ask them to specifically do that)

We visited Israel for the first time. Everything during our trip was simply perfect. The King David was no exception. Our corner room on the sixth floor overlooked the Old City as well as the New City. The room and bathroom was large and very comfortable as well as completely quiet. The only minor criticism was the HVAC was either too hot or too cold so we turned it off. The dinning experience was fantastic. We arrived in time for Friday Shabbat dinner. As non-Jews it was our first and e... Read more

I really liked the service and food that I received at the King David restaurant. My wife and I were on a Gate 1 tour and we went to see David on our first night. While I didn't understand the division of the restaurants with regards to eating Kosher, the food was great and the service was first class. The price wasn't all that bad with a dinner for 2 was less than $40. For such a classy and famous place, I thought that everything was really great.

So friendly, so helpful, and a most beautiful room. Supposedly our room (632) was the one in which Anwar Sadat once stayed... georgeous, very roomy, and with a great view of the west wall. The breakfast buffet deserves special mention: It was excellent (of course not so much on shabat)

Several nights here to finish trip. Upgraded to a small suite, on lower floor though. Dignitaries visiting, so armed security very visible and breakfast buffet crowded with same. Hotel staff indifferent, had trouble managing a spa appointment. Clearly hotel staff accustomed to security for important guests. Don't expect special service as a regular paying customer. Close to several good restaurants, a plus. Not worth staying in a hotel frequented by important persons. Motorcade with flash... Read more
