This is my favorite hotel to stay at in East Jerusalem and close to the major sites in that area including the Damascus Gate(less than 5 minute walk), Garden of Gethsemane(across the street) and the Tomb of Shimon HaTzadik. The Hotel used to be an Ottoman Mansion(great stone, ottoman architecture with high ceilings throughout), then a govt office, then a school and now been a hotel since 1950. There is beautiful Arabic furniture throughout the Hotel, original artwork by local artists and fascin... Read more

Very nice and friendly place. From the first moment you feel at home there. Service smiling, very helpful and professional. Food very good, varied breakfast. Large selection of dishes for lunch and dinner. Hotel very atmospheric. The décor captures the atmosphere of the district. Warm place with good fluids. Beds comfortable. We stayed here three nights. The rooms are massive - very authentic and much better than staying a modern 'box'. Bathroom was small but that was excusable considering the retrofit that had been done to make this a hotel.Staff were very helpful and the food was really good - Arabic/Palestinian choices for lunch and dinner, with massive helpings, and simple yet filling breakfasts. Excellent location for the Old City - 100m from the Damascus Gate My only concerns were: 1) For over $150 a night for... Read more

One of my favorite places to stay in the world. I can't believe I have never written a review for this very special hotel. All of the employees from the owners down have always been fantastic to us. There is a wonderful and insightful conversation around every corner. I have also met some of the most fantastic guests staying here. The staff has always treated us like family and has gone out of their way to make sure we are able to accomplish what we have come to Jerusalem to do. Please com... Read more

We spent 5 days in this very charming, historic hotel in East Jerusalem. The hotel is very conveniently located, 5 minutes walk from the Damascus gate to the old city, and a similar distance from the very convenient tramline, which provides easy access to West Jerusalem, running up the main thoroughfare of Jaffa Street, ending at the ‚??must see‚?? Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum. We had a quiet room (room 206) on the first floor at the back of the hotel, with a small terrace. The bathroom is small... Read more

This hotel is very authentic with its building, design and decor. I love eating in the restaurant which is outside the building in the garden and covered in a special way. They have also different activities suitable for tourists as well as locals all around the year.

Very nice family hotel. Hotel is being looked after but has been aging which makes it look neglected. I did not like the outside environment. It is close to the Damascus Gate which is not my style of market to hang around.

Great Arabic style hotel, every room is in unique. Friendly Staff. Great location if you want to visit the the Old City, it is right outside of the Damascus gate. If you want to spend more time in the new part of Jerusalem and stay out later at night, especially if you are a single girl traveler, I would recommend staying closer to Mahane Yehuda street and market. Also, the breakfast at this hotel wasn't fresh.
