It took two months to get a confirmation for our reservation. Other hotels confirmed right away. We were getting a little nervous, but finally got confirmation after several emails and stating we were coming soon. The front desk only had us booked for one night instead of two. That was quickly remedied. When we came back in the second day, they had changed our keys and we couldn't get in because housekeeping wasn't sure we were staying a second night. There is construction going on between 8 and... Read more

Finding this hotel was a nightmare. They are doing some construction and haven't bothered to put up any signs. We drove around the block four times before we accidentally stumbled upon it. Once we got there it was lovely. Nice room and helpful staff. McGettigans Pub is part of the hotel. Stay away!

The Limerick City Hotel is going through a renovation but we were in the part that was not renovated yet. From the outside the motel is beautiful and in a great location down by the waterfront. The parking garage next door was convenient although we were charged a discounted price to use it (not fully included in motel price). This motel is convenient to the waterfront, walking to King John's castle is about a mile away, and you are in the heart of downtown. I'm hoping they renovate so the rooms... Read more

This hotel is in a very central location. Great bar food and excellent breakfast. Nice room. Spotlessly clean and large well equipped bathroom. Highly recommend for a city trip to Limerick. 10 mins from University. Right beside shops, restaurants and bars. Overnight parking in Qpark, right behind hotel for 7.50. I particularly want to mention the outstanding customer service. Every single member of staff was so friendly. Well worth a stay.

Upon arrival... Front desk was accommodating enough. Arrived in room, and remodel was currently underway. No problem... It's always good to upgrade, and I can give allowances for it. Room smelled as though it was painted hours before arrival, no worries... We opened a window and figured it would at least dissipate some by the time we returned later that evening. The Mrs. is asthmatic but again, figured we could make allowances. Fumes were still strong, so requested to move. Again, not an i... Read more

we spent one night here ,which turned out to a great stay the hotel is well kept and the staff very friendly and helpful .the rooms were perfect for what we paid ,the bar is a great place to go with live music and DJ .food is excellent, the only problem is there was no instructions on how to use the coffee machine in the room, other than that its hard to fault this place.

We chose Limerick to stay because it appeared well located. That proved to be true. The Limerick City Hotel was a cozy, delightful place to stay. As we were out and about driving and sightseeing most of our days, it felt so good to come back to a warm and welcoming environment. They have a restaurant that is very good, and happily satisfies the end of day desire for a good meal. What more could you ask for? The only heads up is that it can be challenging to find the entrance - recommend r... Read more

Booked into a superior room for one night B+B - first time staying here. Car Parking is a bit confusing as there are 2 car parks beside each other and if you drive into the wrong one ( as a couple in front of me did) they charge i think ?20 a day! not clearly enough signposted. Lady at reception for check in was on her own and under pressure. she hadnt time to check people in properly or answer questions. i asked her about the parking to validate my ticket and she said it would cost me ?7.50... It's a decent hotel, a bit noisy on the lower floors but the staff are mostly friendly. They booked me a taxi to the airport and I was charged ?5 more than I usually pay ( I've used the Taxi Company Before). The Driver told me ( and showed me a text from his dispatcher) that all drivers doing long runs have to drop a backhander to reception ( Attn. of Mary) or they won't get any more fares from the hotel. They then have to pass the cost on to the customer!! I haven't found this the case in any... Read more

Checked into this hotel. Receptionist was really nice and very friendly. Rooms are fine and a reasonable price. Centrally located as well.. However the service in McGettigans Bar was horrendous. I Sat in the restaurant for 25 minutes while the man serving food (wearing a blue shirt, all the other staff were in black) walked past me about 15 times with a sour look on his face and just ignored me. I caught his eye a few times but he never acknowledged me, or told me he'd be over to take my order, ... Read more

We recently stayed here for one night to attend a funeral. We found parking ok and entered hotel to lower ground floor toilets facing us. Upstairs to reception. Staff member pleasant and we headed off to the room along dull and dated corridor. The door of the bedroom looked to have at some previous time being forceably opened and repaired. Didnt feel too safe to be honest. Bedroom was really basic..like no frills at all. Old tv which wouldnt bother me. Shelf where kettle was sitting was not lev... Read more

Just back from a one night stay here and I can safely say I will not be going back again. When we went to check in the young man at reception couldn't find our booking even though I had my reservation email. I ask asked could I use one for all voucher to be told no although the website said you accept vouchers. After a while he booked us in and gave us our key card. We didn't really spend much time in the Hotel, and didn't have breakfast. The major plus is the location, just a short walk to Limerick city and its busiest streets. Parking is in a car park to the rear of the hotel and from what i can make out it has nothing to do with the hotel. It says its secure but didn't look that secure and we was told it was ?7.50 for 24 hours but cost us ?10.40, even though the hotel processed the ticket. The room was ok bearing in mind the price, it was a 3 pers... Read more

stayed here a few weeks back so late review, as I was given the Manager time to answer my email to get back to me to date. Hotel is ok needs a big revamp to all its rooms, have stayed here before but only for its location. We arrived back to our room after a Saturday night out around 2am, I was woken up by a people banging and kicking the room door off its hinges. I got up and went out into the hall and a group of lads 2 rooms down were messing in the hall with 1 of them looking for his mate th... Read more

This hotel is in the downtown area of Limerick so there is lots of shopping and eating options nearby. Parking is in a garage and tricky to get to. It's paid parking. You can get it validated by the hotel for a flat fee of 7.50, so depending on how long you are parked that may or may not be a good deal. The hotel is currently being renovated. We had an old room on the 6th floor. It was definitely dated, but suitable. The elevator doesn't go up to the 6th floor so we had to take our luggage up th... Read more

We enjoyed staying here, the room was very nice and clean. The hotel faces the River Shannon, but it can be hard if you are not looking up (it sits above a hair salon). We spent an hour trying to find our hotel as we walked up and down the river. But still, it was very great, and it had a continental breakfast that was great and full of traditional Irish foods. The staff was really great as well, they even helped us find a pizza place for us. Definitely would recommend.

We had a very comfortable room, right on the front, looking up the river and over the roundabout at the end of the bridge on the main road in from the West. The room was clean, spacious and very well furnished. There is no car parking on site but in an adjacent commercial carpark, behind, at a reduced rate. The breakfast was good but the breakfast room, partly underground somewhat depressing and a couple of the staff members there were rude or brusque.

We stayed at the hotel last weekend and really enjoyed ourselves.Currently the hotel is being revamped but apart from seeing the odd worker we were unaware of the work. The room was very clean and was cleaned twice while we were there. I have just returned from a night stay at this hotel. The location is great, right by the waters edge and walking distance to town centre pubs, clubs etc. The hotel itself looks good from the outside but is in bad need of updating. The tv is from the 90's and the remote had no back on it. The room was not very big but there was enough space with a double and a single bed. Beds are decent, front desk staff are genuine and frindly and the room was clean and tidy. But.. the barman in McGettighans bar is a dick.. simple. Unhelpful, lack of interest, ignored custom. Possibly worst hotel I've stayed in. Great central location tbf. Bar downstairs was buzzing. Bar staff tho had no interest in being there. Stains all over carpets. Receptionists were friendly and helpful. Scum in shower gels. Felt dirtier after I showered. Breakfast was a good buffet until i seen builders and painters just walk-in freely into kitchen and helping themselves in dirty overalls. No provided parking. Clampers got people who had just checked into reception. Horrible memories. Sorry

Our room was on the second floor where they were in the midst of renovations, painting the walls with oil paint, which we all know smells! Why in peak season...not sure. The renovations still had not taken place in our room. Good location and the reception desk staff was helpful.
