Wonderful hotel in the center of town. Proprietor, Tony & daughter Kelly were so helpful. Excellent breakfast & restaurant. Would definitely return. Very clean & updated with plenty of old world charm. If you're a golfer this is the place you Need to be.

This hotel is very clean and the rooms are nicely set up for a casual hotel. We stayed in room 306, which faces the street at the top of the stairs. The room was unusually set up in that the door opens into a small foyer with two doors: one to the bathroom and the other to the bedroom. While odd, it worked out great. The staff was very friendly and the adjoining pub offers good food and a nice assortment of frosty beverages. Street facing was a mixed bag. The views of the downtown area with th... Read more

We arrived sans reservations and checked out 6 hotels. We liked the room so we took it. The owner, Tony Mc Sweeney has a class operation . He gave a full itinerary for the ring of Kerry etc. Good dinner and the best breakfast we've had. The staff is great too! Thanks Tony,Tim&Deb Mulcahy

Nice family run hotel in the center of town. Great Irish pub downstairs with very good food. Although Mr McSweeney has seen countless tourists he was graciously helpful on tips traveling thru the Ring of Kerry! i recommend this Hotel

I stayed in this hotel which is nicely situated right in the heart of killarney. I found the staff to be very friendly the hotel is very clean and good value for money. Their is a good selection of food for breakfast which suits all tastes. I would recommend this hotel for families, groups or solo travellers like myself.

I went there with my wife last weekend (4-5 june) in a double room. The manager was kind enough, greeted and gave us quickly the keys to the room. The room itself was very nice, tidy, with good furniture and a very nice view overlooking the area right outside the center of the town. Overall everything was good, but not good enough I'd say. First of all the price for one night was 155 euros. I get that the city was packed for a bikers festival and the bank holiday but still I think it was way too... Read more

We stayed 3 nights at this 3 star family run hotel which was right at the end of the main street. Food was very good, staff very helpful and friendly. public bar on ground floor. The owner always had time to recommend places to visit and was keen to find out how our days had gone. I would go to this hotel again and would recommend it to anyone else. The only slight problem we had was that the room was slightly warm we had to have the window open at night. We had a great long weekend

We didn't stay at the hotel-just ate at the bar. The steak and duck were both nicely prepared. The server was friendly albeit a little slow. The prices were reasonable. There were TV screens playing sporting events in the bar area.

After not enjoying pre-booked accommodation in Killarney, we followed advice of some Killarney local cyclists we met a couple of days before on the Beara Peninsula & checked in at the McSweeney Arms Hotel. Family run with daughter welcoming us with pristine rooms. Although some very golf orientated clientele wearing some distinctly bright attire that wouldn‚??t be worn in public anywhere other than on a golf course, the staff were attentive & professional to all.

The location of McSweeney couldn't have been better, it was away from some of the noisier parts of town but still an easy 4-7 minute walk from anywhere you'd want to visit in town. The staff were extraordinarily helpful, spending almost 30 minutes helping me work out the intricacies of bus travel between cities in Ireland (although in the end i didn't use them), they were super helpful as far as pointing me towards places to rent bikes, where to watch the EURO cup and what pubs had the best food... Needed a spot for 8 people with a group, Ate lunch, made reservations and all was good-food, service and prices.. had the same male server at lunch who thought he was going home for dinner. Delightful and friendly after a very long work day. All eight enjoyed themselves and thought it was good value

We stopped here for a bite to eat before leaving town to catch a bus. We realized at the last minute that we needed our bus ticket printed (it seemed like a mobile ticket) and Aiden at the front desk helped us out by printing the tickets. The bar was also very comfortable and the seafood chowder, amazing. From my 3 day stay in Killarney this also seems like the perfect location. Very close to many restaurants/bars, the train station and the 2 bus stations--even the departure point for jaunting c... Read more

We stayed here after a disaster at the Fairview across the street (see my review of the Copper Kettle B&B). We were incensed and exhausted, but Tony calmed us right down and got us everything that we needed. Our room was the finest that we had been in thus far, and we were immediately struck with the feeling that we should have selected the McSweeney Arms from the beginning. Everything was more luxurious than we expected, at a very fair price. There's a bar downstairs with a fine selection of ... Read more

I made a point to ask my tour director to have my group stay at McSweeney's again, having been there 2 years earlier. We loved it. Tony is so accommodating and the ever present Kelly is so helpful and an absolute delight. I've travelled a few million miles in my life and I'd come back here again. As a matter of fact my gang wants to come back next year. Having a bartender like Joe certainly made our time in the pub enjoyable. We stayed for two nights and thoroughly enjoyed our time here. From our warm welcome at reception to our departure the service here was outstanding. Our room was lovely, very spacious, modern and tastefully finished. The main reason we chose to stay here was because of the central location, the town centre is literally on the Hotel's doorstep. When were arrived on our first night we were tired and decided to grab some food in the hotel bar and we were not disappointed. The variety on the men... Read more

We were checked into our rooms promptly where after the staff asked us if we needed any tips for the evening and weekend. The rooms were larger than I expected, which is always a plus. Centrally located in the heart of Killarney, minutes walk from the train station. Family owned and run. Rooms are large and well decorated. Hotel is well kept up. Great food in the ground floor pub, with a difference from the usual pub food. Had the crispy duck dish, which was perfectly done - crispy on the outside and moist and tender inside. Service and amenities were great. A restaurant is part of the hotel, the Sandtrap. The food was way above average pub food. Location in the heart of Killarney allowed us to walk everywhere and it's also a short drive from Killarney National Forest. Undoubtedly, the best thing about the place are the people who run it and work there. We had an issue with a flat tire and called the front desk from the road and when we got back on a small spare, they quickly arranged for us to have a new tire wit... Read more

This is hotel truly gives you the spirit of Killarney. You're right in the center of everything. Almost every attraction in Killarney is a short walk away. (5-10 minutes tops.) Very friendly staff, the front desk gave us great advice on where to go and where to eat. It is noisy though. Our room was directly over the hotel bar, and it was pretty rowdy the first night we were there. Not a big deal for us because we live in NYC, but other people may have an issue with it. Staff was great, felt very personal. Room was clean and cozy. I was on the first floor facing the street and above the bar so I was concerned it would be too loud at night but I was surprised I had no problems with the noise level. My only minor complaint is that all the room doors slam shut so that can wake you from time to time. Location couldn't be more convenient! Highly recommended!

Had a very friendly welcome from Kelly. We had to adjoining rooms and both had very comfortable double beds. The hotel is perfectly positioned in the centre of Killarney so expect some noise. Our only niggle was that the duvets were more winter weight which made it a hot night! Breakfast was amazing, a huge range of fresh fruits, everything you could wish for and more. I really wanted to give the hotel a higher rating. You'd be hard pressed to find a better staff, they were pleasant and very helpful. The breakfasts were plentiful and tasty, the food in the pub also very good. Rooms exceptionally clean and large although the bathroom lacked shelf space for toiletries. McSweeney Arms was a great place to base our trip for rounds at Dooks, Waterville and Old Head. We had a coach bus that took us around so we didn't have to deal with driving. Tours of Dingle and Ring of Kerry were spectacular. Staff at McSweeney made our trip special. We stayed here for four nights and enjoyed our time. From start to finish what marks this hotel out as special are the people - from breakfast to the last drink at night in the bar you are met with genuine friendliness. I stayed for 2 nights at this hotel and it was great. Every staff member was friendly and went out of their way to assist with recommendations (all were spot on!) and answer any questions.
