Stayed here Friday to Monday. Good location about 10 minute taxi from Quay street ?15. We hired a car from airport - free parking. Staff are friendly. Hotel rooms are basic but well kept and clean. Irons are all part of room and hairdryer and telly channels are very varied with plenty of choice. Get a balcony you have access to too. Fitness room is pretty poor there isn't any weight machines just old cardio machines and it really is just a room. There was no-one else in it when we went so not ... Read more

We stayed in this hotel for my mothers 70th birthday for 2 nights (Friday/Saturday). First impressions were wow, this is a lovely hotel. Plenty of car park spaces above ground and below ground. Check in was simple and staff were very friendly. I booked 2 family rooms and 1 double. The family room consisted of 2 double beds and a good size bathroom. very comfortable. We had a room overlooking the motorway which I say was a bit noisy in the mornings but grand at night. We had dinner in the Bistro ... Read more

This hotel was so confusing getting from point A to point B! It reminded us of a cruise ship. This was our 4th hotel on our Ireland vacation. Our room was basic. Very plain and looked more like a college dorm room. I loved the bathroom! Very clean and a nice size. They have a wonderful breakfast. The restaurant and bar area where very nice. The location isn't so good. You are about 15min drive from downtown. With that being said. I think they need to make the rooms more comfortable and homey. Th... Read more

Smart, good size rooms, even at the "best available" rate. Downside, the rooms overlooking the N6 have very loud traffic noise, this is only a problem though during the working day. Excellent breakfast choice, including my "good hotel" benchmark, " fresh" fruit salad. Very good that fried eggs are cooked fresh to order. The bacon is thick cut and a bit tough and only luke warm, the sausages could be used as armour piercing bullets. Staff very wecoming and helpful, a couple of small room issues... Read more

Hotel is a very nice place just some things tend to let it down. Blown light bulbs not replaced, grubby paintwork not washed down or repainted. Bar staff chewing gum, even the bar supervisor was chewing. This i consider not 4 star. Room was lovely and food was too, shame small things shown through

This is a nice hotel with ample free parking and a friendly staff. The room was very spacious and clean and the breakfast is great. One drawback is that while there is a small balcony that you can go out onto from your room, it's not very soundproof. The people in the room beside us were loud when opening and shutting the door to go out to the balcony so that was a bit disruptive. Also, if your room faces the motorway, then you can hear vehicles driving by, which can be distracting when you ... Read more

Nice hotel, very clean, nice rooms and very comfortable beds. There is a vending machine outside the lift on the floors and this is a great idea. The bar is really and cosy. Improvements required - easy access to WiFi should be provided instead of contacting reception. The TV in the room is dated and needs replacing. It was out of sync and the sound was horrible. Water pressure needs to be fixed. Shower wasn't the best either. Toilet would barely flush. Bottles of water in the rooms would have... Read more

Stayed for 2 days at this hotel last week. Upon arrival we were told our room wasn't ready so we went off for a few hours and returned to find we were checking in just as a wedding party arrived. Fast check in all the same and we were directed to our room. Sadly this hotel lacks character, the hallways are all plain brwn with nothing on the walls. The stairwell is in dire need of things on the walls (other than stains) and the carpet needs a damn good steam clean. Our room was much the same, lar... Read more

In my opinion the Galway Clayton fares well compared with other hotels in this chain. It is very easy to find, has plenty of free parking, well mannered staff and pleasant enough decor. The rooms and ensuite bathrooms are a decent size and you will find everything you will need and expect from this type of hotel. The Galway Clayton has a small gym, which I found quite hot even first thing in the morning. No need for a sauna! There is also a swimming pool but I didn't pay this a visit so can't ... Read more

Stayed overnight recently. The price quoted for the room was much better than prices for more central Galway hotels so, if you know your way around Galway, worth considering. It's also very well located if you want to get on the road quickly the next day. The room itself was very good - two double beds. And, though it was directly overlooking the very busy dual-carriageway, sound insulation was excellent. We had an issue with the price we were charged on checkout for room service breakfast (brea... We stayed 26/27 June 2016, Nice clean rooms( interconnecting rooms), great food, great service. One major let down for us was the noisy generators outside the hotel, they were terribly noisy on the Sunday night, not as bad on the Monday night but still the noise levels not acceptable for sleep. These generators need to be boxed in, not left as they are presently. We stayed in room 151/152 (interconnection between rooms). C.M.

The staff in the hotel are lovely...no doubt about it. Very friendly and helpful. The foid here is lovely too. However, the bathrooms in the bedrooms could do with a powerhose. I was in two different rooms and both had mould growing on them. The smell in one bathroom was very bad. Could have been bleach....not sure, but it was overpowering. The hotel was not cheap so I was very disappointed with this. Traffic from the road can be heard but it is not a huge issue.

We had a late arrival and were given a room with a broken toilet, awful smell, leaking shower, stained carpets, stained lamp shades - just awful. The hotel was fully booked but thankfully the manager was able to find us another room after much complaining. The new room was ok, but certainly not worthy of more than a 3 star rating. Hotel is very outdated in general, except for the lobby area. Was told it would be undergoing renovations shortly. Wouldn't stay there again unless it did.

Rooms were so big, that looked like small apartments! Bathrooms were a challenge for people with Mobility issues. Staff was attentive to needs, we requested a room change since we were in the front of hotel and there s was lots of car noise. The room we were given was in need of carpet, but it was quiet, so we were ok with it. The restaurant has a great Breakfast, but meals were very poor . We ate there twice, once as part of the tour, another on our own. None good

Nice stop on our journey. They had the Cannonball race stopping in while we were there so great cars to see. Room was clean. Nice big bathroom. Huge windows. Can get a little load with nearby road but wasn't bad. Nice place to eat and drink within the hotel. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful!! Plenty of parking underneath. Not much to walk to but you can grab a taxi or drive about three miles to the city.

I have stayed here a couple of times for business and I can't really fault the hotel. Staff are friendly, rooms are reasonably spacious and comfortable, wifi is strong enough to support remote video working, hotel bar is pleasant and bar food is quite good. If you want to go into Galway city itself then you need a car .. your own or a taxi.

Arrived at the hotel and was pleasantly surprised at the amount of free parking available. The hotel itself appears to be built for business purposes as well as wedding receptions etc as it does have 2 ballrooms and quite a large restaurant. The rooms have free WiFi and are clean and comfortable. We were given an extra experience when the super cars on the Cannonball Run stayed the night. Wow, some fantastic and expensive cars.
