As always a delightful stay. Staff all work together and can't do enough to make your stay the one before your next. They are all most cheerful (even for grumpy old me!). Shower is of good quality and idiot proof, my starting point for choice of hotel). The hotel is handily located with an excellent smoking area next door in their own Bison Bar which has a great club upstairs also with smoking area

Easy to find, very clean, comfortable bed, centrally located - I would stay there again. Very helpful staff - they even had a fan/noisemake in the room to help with the noise from Temple Bar folks. The staff made several great recommendations for us and helped us with getting an early morning taxi.

I had a good stay at The Clarence. The service is excellent, especially from the front desk. Very helpful. The rooms are clean and spacious. My room was really quiet and considering it's location I was very surprised by this. The breakfast is to die for and is in a lovely setting in their restaurant, and again the service was excellent. The only thing that let the hotel down was the very slow and non powerful hairdryer which left my hair looking rather frizzy! That aside I would definitely s... Read more

H and I had our wedding reception at The Clarence and the hotel staff couldn't have been nicer to us during our three night stay. We even got upgraded to the penthouse suite which a balcony with stunning views of Dublin city. The rooms are very comfortable and have everything you could possibly need. Cleaver East restaurant does excellent food and a fantastic brunch at the weekends. The Octagon Bar is also a lovely place to have a drink. It is on the edge of Temple Bar so the area around the ... Had a couple of nights here, the rooms are clean and comfortable with tea making facilities. The breakfast is really nice, exceptionally nice. Central location right on the canal and by Temple area. We would probably upgrade if we stay again to a canal facing room as we had a basic room and it was dark, so had to have the lights on all the time. However a pleasant stay, staff helpful, food great would recommend. Nice little quirky cocktail bar next door in the cellar if you like an evening... Read more

We stayed here over the May bank holiday. Not familiar with Dublin at all, but chose the location because we enjoy live music. The hotel was great - very comfortable, lovely furnishings, a little balcony to sit out on. We did not use the restaurant and bar - both seemed quite dead and empty, but the room and staff could not be faulted - thus the 5 star rating. We were prepared for noise - however the area itself was a disappointment. Perhaps it was the timing, but streets were filled with ve... Read more

Dublin was the first stop a week and a half family vacation in Ireland. The bus from the Airport stops at O'Connell Street Bridge which is less than a 10 minute walk to The Clarence. So getting to the place was very easy. I was lucky enough to be able to check in well ahead of actual check in time, but others in my party couldn't but the concierge still held the luggage and delivered it to their rooms when the room was ready so we didn't have to lug bags around Dublin for half a day. Everything about our experience at the Clarence was top notch. Located centrally in Temple Bar you can walk to most pubs and tourist attractions. Service is stellar; very friendly and helpful. The rooms are beautifully designed and the bed was extremely comfortable.

Lovely hotel close to Temple Bar but not too close. Many lovely traditional Irish pubs and restaurants to visit within a close area. The staff were helpful, friendly and welcoming with nothing too much trouble to make our stay an enjoyable one. Our room had lots of character and had everything we needed for a comfortable place to stay. There was some noise from the surrounding bars etc. but that it to be expected in a busy part of the capital city and added to the feel of the place.

We had a very lovely room, were served by great staff -very helpful and kind and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We would have no doubt in recommending the Clarence for business or holidays. The location is very central and the building is the old customs house which retains lovely period features.

The Clarence is well situated right by the river near the Millennium Bridge and convenient for restaurants and the Temple Bar area. The room was a good size and the bed comfortable. The decor seems to be getting a little aged, a renovation would be in order soon. Staff were mostly helpful except I was told I couldn't have phoned to make a restaurant reservation when I knew I had. Breakfast was extra (15 Euro per person) but good; however, unfair to single this hotel out on this, have hotels don... Read more

We stayed here on our last night in Dublin. We had a reservation at another hotel, but upon checking into that hotel, we knew we could not stay there. It was outdated and like my grandmas house. So we called The Clarence and asked if they had rooms for 6 people. We were traveling with our 4 kids, ages 20-12. Considering we had paid for the previous place, we were happy to have found 3 rooms here for a good price. My husband originally wanted to book this hotel months ago and it wasn't avai... Read more

Stayed here based on reviews and location. The room we had was clean, but nothing fancy. Our room faced out over the river and the busy street below. The room didn't have air conditioning and we had to open the window during the day to get it to cool down. The street noise made it loud, but how often are you in the room during the day? At night we closed the window and it wasn't too bad at all. We had a queen size bed in our room and the room size itself was sufficient. If I'm ever in Dublin a... Read more

It's not easy for me to write a poor review, but in this case I must. We paid over $200 US Dollars for a tiny room surrounded by brick walls with no ventilation and fans that brought no value. We were there for our 25th Anniversary, and this was the beginning of our trip, and became the worst hotel we stayed in. I had one person say to me that the room shouldn't even exist - it's an insult to put people in a closet. The staff provided service, but for the most part it was aloof and unfriendly.... Read more

Firstly let me say the service we recieved was very good with a couple of minor issues being resolved in quick time. The location is fantastic with easy access to Temple Bar through the rear entrance. Our room was upgraded and was very nice with a view out to the rear over Temple Bar But the rooms are VERY hot - it rained pretty much each day we were there but it was still very warm - can only imagine how bad it would have been if it was hot!! This hotel was once owned by U2. Not modern but well taken care of. I had a single room with a king bed, 2 easy chairs with table and a desk. There was a small balcony with a view of the surrounding buildings and the street below. The restaurant is very nice and the food was excellent.

The service was excellent and the food was amazing. The craftsmanship and attention to detail in the room was high end but it was still comfortable. The location was perfect, right in the middle of Temple Bar and on the river. It was very easy to take a bus from the airport to the hotel. Dublin was beautiful and the people were extremely friendly. Would definitely go back.

We had a room facing an internal courtyard on the 3rd floor. The room itself was quite pleasant overall - large, comfortable furnishings, large bathroom, good storage, good wifi, comfortable bed. However, it was less comfortable after about 6 pm each night (even weeknights) as the bar at the bottom of the courtyard would get going and not stop until maybe 2 or 3 am. Just back from a two night stay at The Clarence. Been to Dublin many times but first stay at the is hotel. We love the calm ambiance and the decor and how polite and helpful the staff are. Wonderful upgrade to a junior suite (thanks very much)with a great view over the Liffey and city. Yes the hotel can be noisy but it's in the heart of the city so to be expected. Very comfy beds, clean, warm and welcoming rooms. Breakfast was great. Will stay again on our next visit to Dublin.

The location is fantastic, as long as you get a river facing room. On the other side, the noise factor late at night hurts. This is the boutique hotel U2 bought and renovated and is very popular with small groups. The rooms are comfortable; there's a nice large bar, a grest restaurant and a lounge. We stayed here for the last 3 nights of a 3 week trip and are a family of 4. The Clarence was by far the most comfortable for our family. We had 2 rooms connected by a sitting room in the middle.
