This hotel has history and is very interesting. Our room in basement level was quiet, spacious and comfortable, bath quite small. Bar and restaurant on premises very good - we were there on Thursday-Saturday and bar was very busy, but upstairs level a little quieter. Staff were helpful and location is fantastic - easy walking to Dublin's attractions. Highly recommend this hotel!

The Schoolhouse Hotel is charming and convenient. We took a long, expensive taxi ride in, not knowing that the Air Coach transit from the airport drops off and picks up a few steps away. What could be better? Our room was large, quiet and comfortable. We did not choose the breakfast option, but did stop into the lively pub on a couple of occasions. It is a local hangout with live music. The hotel is an easy walk to the center of town or to several stops on the Hop-on-Hop-Off Bus. I would... Read more

The Schoolhouse is a hotel with a difference. Immediately you are struck by the very special ambience that comes from its heritage as a school dating from the 1800s There is a graceful, almost spiritual, aura from the high ceilings and balconies and from the sunlight streaming past leafy green trees and through large windows. Combine this with the friendliness and informality of all the staff and you have a wonderful place to relax and unwind. And yet at the same time the Schoolhouse is vibrant... Read more

This is a delightful hotel with an excellent restaurant and the best breakfast included deal I've seen in Europe. The rooms are both comfortable and spacious by European standards. The location is quiet without being distanced from places you want to be. The employees are helpful and kind. I wish the other hotels in Ireland that were part of my journey had been as lovely.

Lovely friendly hotel. All staff welcoming and friendly. Room good size, clean and well equipped. In an idea setting 10 minutes walk from city centre in quieter area by the canal. Breakfast very good with good choice. We ate in the restaurant one night and the bar another night. Both meals were lovely and good value. The steak and Guinness pie was huge and very tasty. Would defiantly stay again and would recommend it.

This is a wonderful property and consistently serves excellent food in the Bar. There are options to suit all tastes and the quality and size of portions represent excellent value for money. There is outside seating available in what is a sunny hot spot from noon....great place for a long lunch on a sunny day!! Service is excellent.

This hotel came recommended by a friend and I was glad we stayed here. A quiet location, just a little ways from town. We ate in the bar the first night and ordered the Rib Eye for two. I can still smell and taste that dinner. We found the beef in Ireland to be exceptional but the School House Bar, served it A1 the best in Ireland. Rooms are clean and and larger then most.

Was a great choice of hotel for our honeymoon, the accommodation itself was very comfortable with huge beds, warm decor and the free movies meant lounging around in the room was all too tempting. Even more so with a restaurant serving negroni and steak in unique looking room. Good location for a gentle walk into the city centre or to explore Ballsbridge. Was really cool to discover the hotel was an item of interest pointed out on our Viking Splash city tour to boot!

I had such high hopes for this hotel. The reviews were so good. But it was not excellent for our stay. And I hesitate to give it 3 stars. Let's go with two and a half. We stayed here for 2 nights. The parking lot is super small and you have to fight for parking with people going to the bar. They should have spots reserved for people spending the night. We actually had to park just outside of their parking lot. The room. My fault for not asking to move to another room...I guess. We were on the ... Read more

The whole place has a lot of charm, starting with the entry doorway; the restaurant and bar area follows with a great atmosphere. The guestrooms are titled after famous people of Ireland, our room was spacious and the bathroom had the best lighting so far in Ireland for putting on makeup. The parking lot is tight, but that is to be expected in Dublin. We only had trouble the first night because a rehearsal dinner was occurring there, the next night was no problem. 3 nights at Schoolhouse hotel and we got nothing to complain about. The surroundings are nice and the hotel is located in an old school building that almost reminds you of an old church. The staff is really nice and helpful and you feel 100% welcome. We choose a twin deluxe room that was very cosy and quiet with a personal and old touch. The restaurant and bar serves a nice breakfast and a variety of tasty food of high quality. I would definitely consider to come here again.

Stayed two nights here. About 15 mins walk out of down town area, a pleasant walk. Quiet area right on the canal. The hotel is unusual, a converted school house, obviously, and a new bed room wing. We found it very well done aesthetically and very comfortable. We did not eat in the main dinning room, but did eat in the pub. The food and the beer were excellent. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to someone who doesn't want to stay in the bustle of the downtown area.

Absolutely loved this hotel! Tucked away but within walking distance to top sites. This actually was a schoolhouse and the history is amazing. Great rooms, good bar/restaurant, friendly and helpful staff. Across the street from a great park, a mile from trinity college and temple street. The gaol is a must see. You can take a hop on hop off bus from near the hotel. There is also a stop to the airport right across the street. Airport shuttle is easy and cheap!

The Schoolhouse Hotel had long been one of my favourite places for a drink in Dublin: whether a pint of Bulmer's in the sunshine or the good stuff in the historic halls inside. So when we had the opportunity to stay at the hotel, we grabbed it with both hands. The rooms are comfortable, cozy and historic. You really have the sense you are in Europe. Historic architectural charm. Quiet residential neighborhood. Room drab, overlooking garbage collection. Bed comfortable, but furnishings dusty, carpet musty. We recently stayed at this cute little boutique hotel for two nights. Each room is named after an Irish author and the rooms are very spacious. Water and biscuits are provided daily and there is a kettle in every room. The bathtubs are a little shallow and the huge beds (definitely king size) are a bit springy-but otherwise we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Staff were the epitome of warm, generous Irish hospitality and the breakfasts were excellent; as were the mussels in the pub. We would return in a heartbeat and were thrilled with our choice of accommodation for our first nights in Ireland.

My hubby and our best friend traveled to Ireland and spent twelve days traveling around the country. None of us had ever been to this beautiful country before. What a treat. We used reviews from TripAdvisor to choose this lovely small hotel. It was the highlight of our trip. First of all, it is in Ballsbridge which is a short ten minute walk to St Stephans Green. It is in a beautiful residential area and it was quiet as a mouse. The Inn has been fabulously but carefully converted from a... Read more

Have stayed here several times before and have always found it to be a good spot. Quirky hotel but in a nice spot and with a good bar a nice food. Rooms are nice and staff are helpful. Reasonable price and trendy people everywhere!

Our first stay in this hotel and it won't be our last. Try the bar for lunch, get there early if you can as this is one of local,s favorilt places for lunch, dinner and general get together. Our room was in the end of the hall as we asked for privacy during reservation, cute room. Plenty of space for two of us. Price is very reasonable especially when it includes free parking and wifi. Loved our stay.

This hotel has a lot to offer visitors to Dublin--comfortable accommodations, quiet setting, good food, and a staff that does everything to make their guests feel at home. The bar associated with the hotel is lively and fun, too. We liked the historic Georgian neighborhood that the Schoolhouse is set in and enjoyed the walk to the city center.

My wife and I have just returned from an overnight stay in The Schoolhouse Hotel, courtesy of a birthday gift from our family. We had a lovely time in this rather unique hotel. It is located in the heart of Ballsbridge within walking distance of attractions such as The Aviva Stadium and Bord Gais Theatre - we went to see The Commitments the musical in Bord Gais on Saturday night. Brilliant! The hotel has a rich history and is small enough to preserve many of its original features. The staff were... Read more
