You simply cannot go wrong here. Great hotel, great staff, incredible value for money. Best breakfast in all of Ireland. Rain nightclub is an added bonus for a late drink. The only negative is having to leave the place!! Enjoy.

After a brief stay last february I recommended the Portobello hotel to some friends as we were meeting in Dublin... Was a bit hesitant after seeing some other reviews but should've known better... From Marius in reception to Seamus behind the bar the staff remembered me from my previous visit and were not only professional in their duties but great craic too ... There was a late bar (3am) and live music while we were there and the place just oozes friendliness ... My friends booked the family ro... Read more

While Dublin is not the biggest city, I think location was one of the best parts of this. You're away from the Temple Bar tourist area, while still being within walking distance of bus stops, bars, and tons of food options. The room that I had was for myself and my SO and we originally ordered a room with a double bed, but received a double and a single bed. At $100 a night, it was a pretty good deal for that room. There was a full bathroom, tea provided, iron, closet etc. Television was prett... Read more

My husband & i r hotel owners from UK. We spent 2 nights @ this hotel a few months ago over a weekend. We arrived bk there @ about 3.45am & as we entered the hotel door we heard music coming from the bar.As we entered the adjoining doors from stairs to hotel, we were approached by a drunken young lady, possibly in her late 30's....?We asked very politely if we could have ONE late drink (as there were at least 20 people already drinking and smoking in there)and we were abruptly told that we had t... Got the suite for 400? for two nights. No.breakfast was included. Room was above the bar. Could hear every word of the music. Rang reception to change rooms none were available. He said its 2 am one more hour n ul be ok. Got two hours sleep. Breakfast we paid for was ok. Suite was small. Furniture was damaged. Would not return. the only thing was there was an irish man on reception the second night and he was very helpful and lovely to talk to.

Was a little concerned when we arrived about 10:30 pm. They have a bar downstairs that looked kind of sketchy (although my family thinks my radar is set a little too sensitive on that sort of thing) with a bouncer outside and a bunch of folks hanging around in the cold smoking. Have to ring in to the lobby. Once there, the clerk told us that someone had taken the ONLY key to the car park, so we could walk over and see if it was unlocked or try to find a place on the street for the night and the... After staying in an Airbnb listing that was much more expensive and disappointing, we were pleased with the customer service we received at check in from Anthony, the inexpensive price, the clean room and the excellent location! We were able to walk all over City Centre Dublin, area is great.

My friends and I (a group of 5) spent 3 nights in Dublin and stayed at this hotel. Our room was a suite with 3 full sides bed and a small living room area with a couch and TV. We were worried about being crammed in a room but this was spacious for us. The beds were also really comfortable. The lock the front door at 6pm for safety but there is someone at the front desk at all times. I would warn though that the bar downstairs is open until about 4 am every night and it can get load. We were ... Read more

Great location for a 2 star property. Very basic however fulfils your basic requirements. I would personally recommended this only on the basis of the service levels offered by their reception staff Anthony O'Brian. Very warm and friendly and happy to assist. He truly represents Irish hospitality in its true sense. If you are looking for a place....I think this is it....

Hotel is basic but fine for a night out. Staff were fine and the rooms were a little run down but clean. Would skip the bar down stairs basic beers, staff all on phones behind the bar, dirty tables, posters for the All Ireland still up weeks later. Also no resident bar for some reason.
