I had the chance to stay here for a business trip. I was sceptical of the hotel when I booked because the price was so reasonable for the area. I was pleasantly surprised to find the hotel quite lovely, the room large, shower/bath area excellent. They have a lounge and a restaurant. But what really sold me on this place is it's proximity to so many great bars and restaurants and coffee shops. I will come back and bring my family.

I wanted a quick sandwich for lunch. In the bar. "Sandwiches/lunch just finished". There were breakfast baps. Frazzled looking bacon strips among the sausages under the dough. Three cold ones remaining on the counter plate. "I can heat up one for you in the machine!". How much are they? " I'm not sure" The bacon strips looked more and more inedible as I waited. No thank you. "There's a lunch in the restaurant". (Short of time) No thank you. I left. Not particularly sure I will return!

Had the opportunity to stay at the Mespil and we were not disappointed. The rooms are beautifully furnished and very clean. The staff were very friendly, courteous and helpful. The food served in the dining room was very fresh and plentiful. They also gave you a large variety to choose from. Transportation for touring is real close and readily available,

Stayed for a short two day break over New Years. From check in to check out and everything in between, I couldn't fault this hotel. The staff are courteous and extremely helpful (had an issue with my ATM card and wouldn't swipe, the staff went above and beyond to assist with manual entries - given the banks were shut and couldn't sort it out) the rooms are very comfortable as is the bed. Lovely quiet and peaceful hotel also. Would highly recommend.

Very good hotel located not too far from Grand Canal square (ideal for business trips). Good clean rooms, good restaurant(s), pretty good wifi, decent gym. Only the breakfast is a bit frustrating for the price and the distinction between continental and Irish seems superfluous. Oh, and the soap and shampoo provided in the bathroom smell wonderful!

Visually a four star both common areas and rooms. Clean comfy etc. Breakfast is a bit of a free for all. The hot buffet is too small for the number of customers. Food seems rationed. Fresh fruit yesterday none today (canned peaches today). No muesli just lower cost cerials. Free parking should read free, very limited parking. So 3 not 4 star.

I stayed in the Mespil for 2 months! I was there for work. I would say that it's excellent but I can not for two reasons. The personal and the hotel in it self is and are excellent, never found people that work in the hotel that are so helpful and kind. Those few times that I asked for something it was done without saying "we will see". On the other side the only two bad things for me about the Mespil is there wifi systems is not one of the best, had lots of problems with it, and the other is th... Read more

Stayed 3 nights as part of a Gate 1 Tour of Ireland. Location is excellent--about a 20 minute walk to city center and maybe another 10 minutes to Temple Bar. Cab will do it in about 10 minutes for about 10 euros with tip. Around the hotel you have many restaurants of varying prices from inexpensive chip shops to fancy pubs-we particularly liked Searson's just around the corner. There is also a SPAR convenience store around the corner to stock up on snacks and drinks. Ask the front desk for a ... Read more

This is a lovely hotel, located about ten minutes walk from St Stephen's Green and therefore very close to the shopping district of Dublin. The rooms are spacious and the staff very helpful. The breakfast has everything you would expect and sets you up nicely for the day. We were staying there because of the Ireland vs. Australia rugby match, so on the Saturday evening after the game the bar was packed. However, the bar staff were working really hard to ensure everyone got served very quickly. T... Read more

We had a great weekend in this lovely hotel. It is in a great location about 20 minutes walk from city centre. Room was lovely and spacious, the only complaint would be the toiletries which I thought were poor for such a great hotel. The breakfast was brillant, buffet style with a huge array of food. The bar area was lovely and relaxing and the staff were very good. We will definitely stay here again
