My Wife and I had occasion to stay in the Marine Hotel, Sutton Cross, Dublin, Ireland for 2 nights 28th & 29th December 2016. Our first experience was booking in where we were greeted by a lovely friendly girl. Our room was just fantastic overlooking Dublin Bay who could ask for anything more. Our Room was fairly large with a fine bathroom and a lovely Balcony that would be a dream to have in fine sunny weather. Breakfast was fine and is served to you at your table by bright lovely staff. lovely hotel, great location with great public transport links. Was looking forward to a swim after a long walk, but the pool was cold. Some of the regular users intimated that they had been complaining about the temperature for two weeks. Happy with the breakfast here, good buffet lunch for visitors, lovely area to sit with sea view. Sad that the pool lets it all down

We were in Dublin for our annual family re-union, we stayed at the Portmarnock for the past few years, but were let down badly last year, so decided on a change. The Marine was excellent, great staff, lovely rooms, and dining well above expectations. the new restaurant (Italian) was where we had our family dinner and it was marvellous. the combination of dining, position, and staff, made this an re-union to remember. There is a very relaxed atmosphere about the hotel, and it is used by a lot of ... Read more

Had 1 night stay here recently & overall we were impressed. It was a lovely surprise to be checked into the bridal suite, which was luxurious & had a beautiful colour scheme. The bathroom had a really good jacuzzi & we had views of the bay from the bedroom window. We didn't get the opportunity to try Cucinos Italian restaurant which is located in the hotel. The lady who served us at breakfast next morning looked after us very well & the food was freshly cooked. The breakfast menu could do with m... Read more

Newly opened Italian restaurant is a hit with my family. Starter of goats cheese risotto balls was unusual and very tasty. Chicken wings could do with a dip. Goats cheese pizza was very different and delicious. It was almost healthy with rocket and spinach. Lasagne voted 'best ever' by our budding restaurant critic. Sea bass again unusual, served with another risotto. Pasta also voted first class. Will be there again!

First of all, the staff were very polite in the hotel and in the bar/restaurant. The rooms were quite large, and well cleaned every day. During my stay they were renovating the restaurant. This involved power tools and loud hammering after 2am. Not acceptable! Unfortunately I don't possess the necessary descriptive powers to depict the caliber of the food; although there is zero chance, that the character who cooked that food, was a qualified chef!

Arrived on a quiet evening to the bar for some food. Helped ourselves to a seat. Waited.......Waited......Waited. Made way to bar for menus. Made selections. Waited...waited....waited. Approached the bar on this very quiet evening where 2 staff were chatting, I attempted to order and was told somebody would come and take my order. At last service protocol was implemented. Waited, Waited, Waited! Eventually our orders were made, the food arrived. Very quickly, too quickly perhaps. The c... Read more

This was our second time in visiting the marine hotel. We visited 3 years ago. The public area is very plush and it's undergoing a refurb in the restaurant ( it's becoming an Italian) . The bedrooms are a different story though, they are old fashioned with old fittings and the table and chairs in our room wouldn't have been fit in a old style up. The fixtures were tired . I'm afraid we won't stop there again when paying top money I expect better . The staff are very good and help you with you... Read more
