My wife wanted to stay in a castle. I wanted to stay somewhere seemingly more comfortable. Both of us were winners with the Clontarf! Very modern accommodations set in this 600+ year old castle. Very kind, delightful, and helpful staff from the very moment we arrived to the time we left. Only reason I didn't give it a 5 was that it is a good distance from downtown Dublin so you had to use taxis to go anywhere. Overall, I'd recommend this hotel to anybody!

We booked this hotel as a anniversary gift and we got way more than we thought we would. The service is great and you get a real castle feel when you stay there. We were only here for one night, but it was really one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at. We even got upgraded to the Royal Suite!

Got to the hotel, and were delayed getting our room, something about it not being cleaned. However, after a couple of drinks in the bar, the hotel found us and brought us our room keys. The room was really great, BTW. Later in the evening, we got a call from the front desk making sure our room was ok and apologizing for the delay. They then sent us up a couple of "nightcaps" - the same drinks we had in the bar earlier! Wonderful! Always very happy when a place makes good for their mistake... Read more

We chose Clontarf as a celebration to end our trip, knowing we'd be sad to end our Ireland vacation. The hotel was very nice with easy check-in and out. We ate at Fahrenheit and the food and service were great. The castle location is close to the airport but not the sights of Dublin so I'd recommend this on your departure. Great bar crowd in the Knights's Bar with live music. The hotel has a real history as an important fortress for Dublin and while the guest quarters have been added-on to... Read more

PROS: The castle is stunning, the reception area is beautiful, the rooms are large, the beds and pillows are extremely comfy and the staff members are friendly. I highly recommend the Clontarf for anyone looking for the wow factor! CONS: It was my friend's birthday and I emailed the hotel three weeks prior asking if they could put up some simple room decorations (e.g. a few balloons). I have stayed in countless hotels around the world and they were all very happy to assist with such requests. H... Read more

I stayed here for one night on a business trip. I loved it. The architecture is amazing. There are parts of an old castle included in the walls. It's out of the city center in a quiet upscale area. I took a walk from the hotel along the river. The room was nice although the shower was a tight squeeze for a normal sized person. The bed was comfortable. The staff were nice at every turn and the restaurant was fairly good. A great place to stay.

a fantastic stay was had by all in our group. The staff were very friendly and helpful including John the manager and Karen at the bar. The decor was outstanding and we dined in the Fahrenheit grill where the food was divine. The hotel is a short taxi ride into city costing ‚?¨18-‚?¨20 and a lovely walk from the strand. We would definitely come back again.

Stayed at the weekend and felt there were some things the hotel did so well at in terms of décor, staff as all were friendly, choice of drinks and the whole layout within the castle. I felt however there were some things that let them down. This included the constant party nights that meant we had people walking outside the room until the early hours for all 3 nights. Children's birthday parties in the main bar on a Friday night which meant we left early and finally the rooms could have been cl... Read more

We recently celebrated our sons christening in the knights bar at clontarf castle. The bar manager Cormac and the waitress Juliet could not be more accommodating and friendly and went out of their way to make our day extra special. The food was delicious and very generous portions. The children were made welcome also. They also had fun exploring the castle so didn't get bored. I would definitely book again for another event.

The Clontarf Castle was a wonderful place to stay. The atmosphere of staying in an authentic Castle made our trip feel like a real Irish Experience. The room was clean and decorative. The maid service was impeccable . The restaurants there were very good, however I would have liked a change in the menu after a few times. Also, would have liked a place to get just a snack. Stayed here for two nights prior to a bus tour of Ireland. From the moment you turn into the tree-lined driveway and see the imposing Castle at the end, then enter the lobby, you know this is going to be a fantastic experience. The Castle was built in 1172, demolished in 1837 and completely rebuilt as a castle & then in 2006 it underwent a 10 million Euro renovation. Each time we are in Dublin, we visit the Clontarf Castle and the bar within. We love the fish and chips and their tartar sauce is wonderful. The bar staff especially Marta, is very attentive ensuring your meal is done to your liking. A lot of history in the area. Must start or pop in for a light dinner or an eloquent night out. We stayed in a family room for 2 nights at the Clontarf Castle 2nd - 4th Aug 2016. The hotel is a Fairytale close to Dublin City. We loved every minute, from the service to standard of food :) , everything was amazing! Graham in reception was terrific and Elaine in the bar was so accommodating with the children's meals and made everything so easy & comfortable for us. The hotel is outside the centre a little (3km approx) but I much preferred that with children especially. I would highly recommen... Read more

Wonderful facility. Amazingly clean. Spent 1 night as part of a cie tour. Took the red eye from US. Staff was super nice and got us in our rooms 3 hours before check in. Nice ba area. Only place I found with Buffalo wings. Seemed isolated. Not much in the area. Great lobby.

This a very well kept hotel. The lobby and rooms are just adorable and the staff are extremely friendly. The room service attendant that looked after our room was very accomodating and made sure we had everything we needed. The hotel is not in the city centre, but there is free parking available at the front and it's only a 5-10 min drive into the city. Just loved this hotel.

We stayed at two castles in Ireland and this was definitely the second best regarding quality. The exterior and grounds here are AMAZING and the staff was very friendly. The room however was dirty and had hair in the bed and bathroom. The floors had very obviously not been vacuumed or cleaned and in general it felt 'grimy' We only stayed here one night so I didnt make a deal of it with management, but we wouldnt stay here again (especially at their premium price). We also dined in their hot... Read more

The hotel is very nice and in a very safe and quite location of the city. It would be nice for the property to have complementary pick-up and drop-off service to the airport, and a shuttle service to down town. Service at the restaurant was extremely slow and the food was not a great value for the money. Over all it is a great property and we would recommend it, just eat somewhere else for dinner unless you have 3 hours for dinner and a just OK dinner.

Nice hotel with good facilities. Within easy walking distance of the beach and some nice restaurants. Room was nice and comfy bed. The shower was small with a very small opening which was a little bit of a nuisance and could be a problem. Lovely breakfast.

We spent 2 days at the Clontarf Castle in a family room, large enough for 5. High standard for all srvices, friendly staff at the reception, good breakfast. Elegance throughout the hotel. We also tried the Knight's Bar in the hotel for dinner and were not disappointed. Only minus is the distance to city centre, which makes it necessary to rely on a car.

Stayed three nights to end our Holiday. Made for a perfect home base while exploring greater Dublin. The location is excellent with easy walk to bus and train station and also offering quite residential surroundings. Outside of the hotel is beautiful with the old castle look and the inside is modern and clean. Would stay again next time visiting Dublin.

5 star afternoon tea. Myself and the girls in family went for afternoon tea today for my birthday. We chose the option with prosecco. We are big on afternoon tea but this was by far the best. From start to finish we were treated like royalty. We were given a fantastic area for our tea. Starting with an introduction to 8 different types of teas we could choose from, followed by prosecco and the sandwiches. Amazing food was then followed by cakes and scones. The staff then came out to sing happy b... Read more

The fish & chips was the best I've ever had. It was big enough to share. Love the architecture. We will be staying here again & would definitely recommend this castle.

This hotel is in a renovated, expanded castle. It is beautiful and well-appointed. It has excellent food and a wonderful staff. The meeting rooms and service are fine. The sleeping rooms are larger than a typical hotel and have everything you need. My bed was excellent. The only thing I wish was different is the bathroom. While the room was large enough, the lighting was not bright enough for putting on makeup and the grab bar/soap holder in the bathtub/shower was too close to where one stands u... Read more

The Castle is very beautiful both inside and outside. The staff is very helpful and friendly. We had them call us taxis every day and did visit the Knights Bar while here. The rooms are nice and a good size, the bathrooms clean and the shower has good pressure. The toiletries they provide in the bathrooms are by an Irish artisan and are very nice. There is a bus stops right outside the castle runs every 10.15 mins. Bus number 130. Drops you right in the city.of course there is always a taxi. The staff are so friendly and helpful, there is a great choice of dishes on the menu, food was very good. If and when I return to Dublin again I shall stay here again no hesitation loved this Castle.
