Booked this hotel for location and due to it being one of the cheapest hotels (still not cheap at ?885 for four nights) for St Patrick's Day. Location was good however the hotel was extremely disappointing. The hotel was under refurbishment so we were the only people on our floor but had workers around in the mornings working on the other rooms. Upon arrival in the room there was no light bulb in the ceiling light. The bathroom was so tiny and cramped there wasn't enough room between the toile... Read more

Where do I start.. Two fine looking chunky 12's came on a 3 night break. The bath towels were smaller than a tea towel, my friends life was put in danger when the toilet seat fell off leaving her distraught dropping off the kids at the pool. No kettle to sober me up in the mornings. Your maid thought it was okay not to leave any toilet rolls and stroll in while we were in the nude. I'm very steady after a few bevvys but your stairs were the equivalent of hiking up snowdonia which made me fall do... Read more

The hotel was not explicit on beds per room. For Americans, a double is still only one bed. The shower had no water pressure and our bathroom door wouldn't shut, because the wood had warped. The bed was comfortable, but there is no lift, so you will need to carry your things up each flight of stairs. The corridors are quite narrow if you have large bags. It is nicely confined off a Main Street so you feel privacy but are close to downtown and shopping and your options as well as .3 miles from an... Read more

Booked on & they had a different set of reviews & rating which was misleading. Pros: man on front desk very busy but friendly enough & helpful. Shower pressure good, loo / bed clean & location ok. Cons: omg, old tv & tube gone so everyone is a rainbow, shabby SHABBY hotel & rooms. Pics don't show all the paint off walls, Windows everywhere incl hallway & not just little bits, big areas! Carpet old & stained & right now I've just discovered it's wet in bedroom as bathroom Sink ... Read more

Been to this hotel in Dublin for 3 nights i guess, close to center, nice rooms, nice decoration. Just missing some snacks to eat during the night! The internet connection was super low, hard to connect most of the times. it was ok and cheap!

On arriving at Barry's - first impression is that this is a somewhat tired hotel - with lots of stairs and no lift. However when finally arriving in our room in the second floor (lots of stairs) we found the room to be lovely - very tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. The bathroom had obviously been recently refurbished and again was spotlessly clean. The beds were very comfortable and the bed linen was lovely. But the best thing about this hotel - apart from the close proximity to Croke ... Read more

At first glance it looked liked a tired hotel, with no lifts (luckily I had my room on the first floor) and old fashioned furnitures, but once I got to the room I found a nice space perfectly tidied up and clean. The location is perfect, only 10 minutes walking from O'Connell street! Thumbs up for the staff! Very nice and helpful in every occasion!

My room was so cramped that i couln't even fit 3 single bed in it. it was a double room. the roofs were so low , a 6ft man would have to kneel.i thought that it would be a better experience but i thought wrong

Great hotel which serves a lovely irish breakfast in the morning. Lovely bar downstairs with a great big fire place in it. Staff were super friendly and helpful. My room was very cosy and clean with tea and coffee facilities. Own bathroom and no noise complaints, Little pricey but I would visit again.

We booked rather last minute and in the wake of Brexit. Negatives; needs a refurb, breakfast not great, no kettle in bedroom, miserable view and poky room, esp bathroom. Positives, nice enough people, location okay (15 mins walk to temple bar) and they were quick to fix a problem with the shower. Basically a little substandard.

I booked this hotel online - the photographs definitely do not match the rooms. Smell of dampness greets you as you walk up the stairs. The room itself needed a lot of repair work - marks all over ceilings and walls. Had to push doors with extreme force to enter - even the bathroom & was afraid to lock it then. Tiny TV in room - towel rail & toilet roll holder drilled incorrectly into wall leaving them non-functioning. Wifi available - on the ground floor only. Tea/coffee available - yes on the ... To be honest I am appalled by this "hotel". It is the complete opposite to what you see in the pictures. The pictures must have been takes when the hotel was built! We arrived at 11pm as we were in the hospital all day, to meet a quiet ignorant man at the desk. Very old musty smell around the hotel. When we arrived in our room it was very small, the door didn't lock properly! , cramped, no tea coffee facilities, no hairdryer, remote Not working, tiny telly, wallpaper ripping off walls, lipstick ... It was a friends bday so we requested if they could put a card in the room, they went above and beyond and put in banners and balloons up which was brilliant. The fire alarm went off at 3 in the morning on our second night which wasn't too good but can't be helped, fab location close to everything like 10 mins walk, really dark and dismal at entrance not much of an atmosphere felt a bit seedy. Was ok. Clean modern bathroom but marks all over the carpets.. We only got room only so couldn't discus... Read more

Good location, friendly and helpful receptionists but over priced. No real room cleaning during my 3 day stay. Only some trash were taken out and bed was somewhat made but the carpet was not cleaned. The room never felt fresh and clean. Carpets in the room all together seemed and felt like it needed proper cleaning. Shower needed to be taken quick as the sewer was clocked. Rooms were a bit smelly and humid. The smell sticks to your clothes as well so they need to be washed. However, if you open ... Read more

When I am away all I want is some where clean and comfy to wash and sleep. Barry's offered comfy beds in a clean room. The room was a little too hot and no air con but not the end of the world. The décor is nice but does need attention is areas, nothing would affect your stay. The staff were friendly and helpful and the location is brilliant.

We were looking for a place with my sister very late at night. Finally we found this one. 120 euros for a very bad room. But we thought ok as we couldn't find something else. So i am going to take a shower and no hot water. We are going downstairs talk with the rude male receptionist. He came upstairs to check and said there's nothing he could do. Of course we told him that is insane. So he came up with a great solution. He told us to go to an already used and dirty room to take a shower there!!... Read more

I have been there for two nights and during a business trip. It is an old hotel, with history, specially related with the Rising Easter. Good service, very friendly and always available. I will repeat.

Hotel is nice for the price. Convenient location if you like to walk and explore. Shower had great water pressure. No air conditioning, but window provides good ventilation with very little street noise. Staff was very friendly and helpful, especially Daniel and Felipe. We will be back!

This hotel is very dated and has no lift so if you are on the top floor it is quite a trek going up the stairs! The rooms are very basic and in bad need of updating. You couldn't swing a cat in the bathroom, very small! The location is near parnell square but a nice walk to O'Connell street. The breakfast was surprisingly good and the staff were very friendly. If you are in Dublin for a night out , the hotel is ok but for a longer stay I would look elsewhere.

The reason this hotel was booked was of car parking when we arrived I asked where the car park was and advised to park on the main street I said no had they a car park or not they said they had a deal with Q park a good walk away. The hotel itself is drap and in need of a good update and carpets cleaned won't b staying there again not wort the 109 euro ( no breakfast )

Historic hotel in great location only a short walk to o' Connell street and city centre. Disappointed with no onsite parking and it's a headache to find a space close by, there is on street but is busy and only free 7-7nights. No tea/coffee facilities in room. Noisy road facing room. On the plus side it is near to a lot of attractions for tourists but am not convinced it suits the business traveller like me.
