Stayed here last week with some work colleague's. Booked over the phone and got a good rate for B&B. The hotel is right in the middle of Athlone beside the river Shannon. The car park at the hotel is very small and can not cater for the guest. We took a chance and double parked our cars. Service at the hotel is a bit scatty. I asked for a room with a double bed, but after two rooms and two trips up and down in the lift I suggested to the receptionist that she gets a house maid two put the twin b... Read more

Stayed for 4 days for business. The first day I used the vending machine to get an adapter and got stuck. I reported to reception but never got the adapter nor the money nor a comment on it during the four days stay. Although they did help to remove ground line on my device to use the wall fixture on the room it was still disappointing the lack of follow up. The room I stayed really needs upgrade. It had the oldest TV I have seen in a hotel in the last 10yrs. On the positive side, it did have ... Read more

We've stayed at many Radisson's in the past and this was just as good. Parking was a little tight outside but a very helpful member of staff opened the basement carpark to allow us to park. The room was as expected and the beds very comfortable. Breakfast was good at ?10 pp. (what you'd expect to pay for this brand).

Stayed here for one night with a friend on a road trip around Ireland. This hotel is all you would expect from a standard Radisson hotel. Room we got was nice and very spacious on the top floor with the diagonal roof and skylights. Slightly outdated, but clean. The only complaint would be of the pillows that were not great and on the room temperature which was a bit too high for a perfect nights sleep. The hotel location was good and staff friendly. Breakfast I found a bit confusing as things ... Read more

Was here on a work conference. Hotel was easy to find. Parking is an issue here . Check in was quick. Bedroom on 3rd floor, better than I expected. Hotel in very good location. Live the patio area that looks over the river Shannon and boats going up and down the river. Food was good , cater well for those who require gluten free. Bar was a bit slow when I was there. Yes I would return again .

Stayed here for two nights over the long weekend. The staff and food were excellent but after paying premium rate for a junior suite was slightly stunned to find that none of the rooms had air conditioning. On both night sound from function drifted up to topmost floors so not the most relaxing of breaks. Athlone itself is worth visiting and boasts some excellent restaurants and pubs.

Nice hotel but no air conditioning in halls or rooms , very uncomfortable in the hot weather! Lack of attention to detail for events. They repeatedly got the name of the hen wrong, labelling ( welcome message , menus etc) the event as her sisters hen instead. They also did nothing about it after being informed. Not acceptable! Lack of staff , resulting in slow /poor service. But besides all of that, it is a lovely hotel , in a very central location, thats serves very nice food and the staff tha... Read more

Friday afternoon 29/7 moored nearby the Radison Blu Hotel Athlone my husband & I decided on a quick late lunch at this establishment. First impressions not great & certainly not in keeping with what I consider synonymous with the Raddison brand. We apparently just missed the buffet at 2.30 & attempted to order from the bar menu only to be advised that a server would take our order from the table. So we chose a seat from the very tired looking furniture noticing upon seating a mess on the carpe... Read more

The hotel was clearly over booked and this was placed upon our shoulders,I'm not an unreasonable person and fully appreciate that mistakes happen but I left with a sense... Read more

We were staying in Hudson Bay hotel and decided to go to Athlone for the afternoon. Dropped in for a guinness. Staff were very friendly. One young barman in particular took time to chat. Nice views over Lough Ree. Overall looked to be a nice hotel and I would go back.

Oh my God. How disappointing. We were looking forward so much to staying here but what a let down. The room was so plain with a shabby carpet as was the carpet in the corridor and the shower door in the bathroom was broken. When l complained to reception and asked if we could move to another room we were told there wasn't another room available. I would not recommend this hotel.

Stayed here for 10 days until I could move into my apartment. It had everything I needed but you may want to have your laundry done outside..hotel prices are a little higher than your high street shop!

The parking was horrendous. A huge hotel with so little parking. We had to park a long way from the hotel on a dark street. Not good for a stress free visit, And the service in the bar was a joke. We ordered three meals for the three of us. They served us an order of fries and the wrong pizza - when we asked where the rest of the order was, they had no idea. We told them it was the wrong pizza so they took it way. While waiting we started to eat the fries. The server then came over and said "wro... Read more

We had been looking forward to staying at the Radisson based on my experience of the Radisson in Galway and Sligo but this hotel fell far short of their standard. Our room had no heating on check in and when we asked at reception they said it was on a timer and they would get it turned on for us. That was fine for the evening but next morning the room was freezing as again we had no heat, and it was a cold November morning. The hotel itself was shabby and the lobby was untidy and obviously no... Read more

I came to Athlone on Saturday with my mother to do some shopping and we decided to stop for a bite to eat in the Radisson Blu hotel. Absolutely excellent service from the bar staff. Two young men in particular really took their time out to make it an enjoyable visit. They checked up on us and made sure everything was okay. Callum and Gerard were very helpful and really made us feel comfortable. Would definitely come back and recommend to others - food was excellent, bar staff were very mannerly ... Read more

A few minutes walk into the Town centre. Great location on bank of River Shannon. Room overlooking the river is a must for the view. Welcoming staff. Good breakfast. Great gym and pool facilities (pool looked good, but was closed for refurbishment, so the hotel gave vouchers for the sports centre Definitely return.

We stayed here for one night while meeting friends who lived locally. The hotel is very comfortable, not super fancy but clean and bright. The room had anything we needed and had a partial view of the river which was nice. The receptionist on arrival was very friendly and professional and the next morning the breakfast was really good. There was a good selection of everything and the coffee was great which lacks for me in a lot of places. The 2 girls serving the breakfasts were so hard working a... Read more

I stayed here for one night. The value was excellent, the location was great and the hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful especially the receptionist and the night porter. The rooms were clean and had everything you need for a one night stay however I felt that the general areas especially the dining room could do with a refurb. The chairs in the dining room were stained and some needed repair.. The breakfast was good and had a good selection but as we were at the last sitting we notic... Read more

Stayed for one night on a business trip October 2016. The staff were excellent in every way. The room was clean and comfortable. The location is also excellent, very central and a few nice pibs close by. Ample free parking which is always a bonus. Lovely outside seating area over looking the River Shannon which unfortunately the weather didn't allow for on this occassion. Would definitely recommend this hotel if in the area.

great hotel, no matter what staff we encountered they were all very friendly, we were upgraded to a suite which was a great treat, the only criticism I have is they don't have Budweiser and the food platter in the bar was a little dry.

I booked a family event including accommodation in the Raddison Athlone and cannot speak highly enough of the Raddison staff. The entire experience from the booking stage to the event itself was a huge success thanks to the most professional and accommodating staff I have had the pleasure to deal with. In particular I have to mention Averil, CJ, Sarah, Tom, Graham and Stefan for whom no request was too much trouble. Thank you all for ensuring that we have lovely memories of the evening.

A fine big bedroom for a family of five, two televisions so no arguments over watching our programs. Breakfast was a little disappointing the fry was a bit dry. A nice bar with excellent food. The decor needs renovation soon as the carpets were torn on the top floor.

I did not feel very welcome on arrival, no recognition of my gold status, very average room with view over the swimming pool roof. Great breakfast as usual though! Average service at the bar, was left waiting for a while in the very spacious in front of the bar space before being asked if I wanted to order anything more - up selling I believe is the term? Check out was fine

At the check-in clearly stated I wanted to have dinner in the hotel. Then at the restaurant gave my room number and ordered food. It was not too bad but not great. Untrained very young staff. After finishing my meal asked to sign the bill was told that the room was prepaid and I had to paid immediately no card with me called night manager who seriously don't care and should do something else. So finally agreed to let me going to my room and back to paid but then was chased in the hotel corridor ... Read more
