Stayed here last week with some work colleague's. Booked over the phone and got a good rate for B&B. The hotel is right in the middle of Athlone beside the river Shannon. The car park at the hotel is very small and can not cater for the guest. We took a chance and double parked our cars. Service at the hotel is a bit scatty. I asked for a room with a double bed, but after two rooms and two trips up and down in the lift I suggested to the receptionist that she gets a house maid two put the twin b... Read more

Stayed for 4 days for business. The first day I used the vending machine to get an adapter and got stuck. I reported to reception but never got the adapter nor the money nor a comment on it during the four days stay. Although they did help to remove ground line on my device to use the wall fixture on the room it was still disappointing the lack of follow up. The room I stayed really needs upgrade. It had the oldest TV I have seen in a hotel in the last 10yrs. On the positive side, it did have ... Read more

We've stayed at many Radisson's in the past and this was just as good. Parking was a little tight outside but a very helpful member of staff opened the basement carpark to allow us to park. The room was as expected and the beds very comfortable. Breakfast was good at ?10 pp. (what you'd expect to pay for this brand).

Stayed here for one night with a friend on a road trip around Ireland. This hotel is all you would expect from a standard Radisson hotel. Room we got was nice and very spacious on the top floor with the diagonal roof and skylights. Slightly outdated, but clean. The only complaint would be of the pillows that were not great and on the room temperature which was a bit too high for a perfect nights sleep. The hotel location was good and staff friendly. Breakfast I found a bit confusing as things ... Read more

Was here on a work conference. Hotel was easy to find. Parking is an issue here . Check in was quick. Bedroom on 3rd floor, better than I expected. Hotel in very good location. Live the patio area that looks over the river Shannon and boats going up and down the river. Food was good , cater well for those who require gluten free. Bar was a bit slow when I was there. Yes I would return again .

Stayed here for two nights over the long weekend. The staff and food were excellent but after paying premium rate for a junior suite was slightly stunned to find that none of the rooms had air conditioning. On both night sound from function drifted up to topmost floors so not the most relaxing of breaks. Athlone itself is worth visiting and boasts some excellent restaurants and pubs.

Nice hotel but no air conditioning in halls or rooms , very uncomfortable in the hot weather! Lack of attention to detail for events. They repeatedly got the name of the hen wrong, labelling ( welcome message , menus etc) the event as her sisters hen instead. They also did nothing about it after being informed. Not acceptable! Lack of staff , resulting in slow /poor service. But besides all of that, it is a lovely hotel , in a very central location, thats serves very nice food and the staff tha... Read more

Friday afternoon 29/7 moored nearby the Radison Blu Hotel Athlone my husband & I decided on a quick late lunch at this establishment. First impressions not great & certainly not in keeping with what I consider synonymous with the Raddison brand. We apparently just missed the buffet at 2.30 & attempted to order from the bar menu only to be advised that a server would take our order from the table. So we chose a seat from the very tired looking furniture noticing upon seating a mess on the carpe... Read more

I was very disappointed+ fustrated with the hospitality+professionalism at this hotel, upon arrival we were told there was no room for us ,even tho I had the booking confirmation and they had my visa details that I provided when booking, they made us feel bad by telling us that we were responsible for putting another couple out!! The hotel was clearly over booked and this was placed upon our shoulders,I'm not an unreasonable person and fully appreciate that mistakes happen but I left with a sense... Read more

Very efficient staff on Reception when we arrived. Rooms comfortable, public areas clean and tidy. Staff were friendly and helpful. Live music was good and the location was excellent. Plenty of bars and restaurants within walking distance, loads of live music venues and the craic was out of this world!

Stayed here for two nights with 2 of my children, had a lovely time , room was clean and comfortable. Bar food only average, breakfast was amazing and staff were really nice, would go back again. Kids loved the pool, and it was clean! Not a lot to do in hotel for kids, but near by, bay sports have a great out door water park, must be visited

Stayed here with my partner back in 2015, staff on reception were having a great chat until we walked up and looked slightly annoyed that we disturbed them to be honest. Room its self was huge as was the bath room. Beer from the bar was ok.

Went to the Raddison Blu with my husband for a short break. The hotel was great. Staff friendly and helpful. Rooms comfortable, very clean and spacious. Big generous bed. Food good too. Thing that struck me most was that the place was spotless. We will be back. A top spot adjacent to pubs, restaurants, historical sites, the lot. A clear favourite highly recommended.

I stayed in the Raddison for the one night break with my partner and parents. After arriving the first general impressions were good until we went into my parents room to be met with a very strong smell of fusty damp. Not very pleasant at all. Because we were heading straight out we didn't comment. We were out for the evening and arrived back around 21.35 we were advised food stopped serving at 21.30. However we weren't informed that there was diversions on the main bridge so we had to drive 20 ... Read more

The Hotel is very tidy with lovely staff.. Very expensive for a mid week stay in my opinion.. Beautiful outside area to have drinks and watch the cruisers on the river.. Plenty of parking and very close to the town center..

My husband and I stayed at the Radisson Blu in Athlone over the August Bank Holiday weekend. While the hotel and staff are lovely I honestly could not recommend this hotel to anyone. We got very little sleep, if any, between weddings, stags and hen parties. This hotel is very very noisy. We asked to be moved after the first night but it was a case of bad to worse. I tried to open the window at 4.40am to ask the hens to keep the noise down but I couldnt. I would have thought a member of sta... Read more

Right in the centre of Athlone town with access to local bars restaurants and Athlone Castle. If lucky your room will have a view of the river Shannon. The family rooms are large and spacious which helped in the enjoyment of the Hotel. Staff Friendly and helpful, good choice for breakfast to suit all diets. Only issue is the pool needs to be updated otherwise it was nice place and location to stay.

I expected this hotel to live up to the Radisson BLU brand, but it was quite disappointing. The rooms, bar, lobby and breakfast were all okay, nothing special. Parking is included, but the reception must not have informed the parking attendant of my reg, as a very large sticker was put on my car notifying me I had wrongly parked. This was impossible to get off, and quite embarrassingly the receptionist had to help scrub it off with hot water. What was quite disgusting was that multiple tim... Read more

This hotel was chosen as a base for five nights for our coach party touring the area. We had a beautiful room on the 4th floor overlooking the river Shannon and marina. The bed was large and very comfortable. There was a great variety of fresh fruit, cereal and cooked breakfast, unusual facility for making your own pancakes. Evening meal taken from a set three course menu part of which was always delicious home made soup. The restaurant staff were friendly, helpful and exceeding hard working.

Our stay here in March was excellent. We had a river view room and could watch all the activity on the river from our room. Parking is onsite and we didn't have any issues with it. The hotel is modern and quiet, centrally placed, and had a great restaurant with views of the Shannon as well.
