This hotel has the most welcoming staff. They could not do enough for you. Clean with very spacious rooms. Food excellent and reasonably priced. Spa and leisure facilities excellent and clean. Only downside is there is no A/C in bedrooms therefore it was quite warm at night however this would not stop me studying at this hotel in the future as everything else outweighed this.

Very friendly /helpful staff, spacious and clean rooms, food lovely and reasonably priced. Kids enjoyed leisure facilities. Shops and cafe located 2 min walk from hotel so don't feel isolated even though staying outside athlone town centre.

Booked into this hotel on the 21st for a two night stay, needless to say I won't be back, after a long hard day on Friday we arrived at the hotel to be greeted by a long queue of teenagers waiting in the rain to get into what was their school formal, the guys and gals were downing the old alcohol outside (as you do ) leaving the empties outside, that wasn't too bad when we got into the hotel and went up to our room we discovered that our room was directly above the revellers, well for five hour... My 7 year old daughter and I spent the night here to celebrate her birthday, the staff are fantastic, they made her feel so special and gave her a big sparkly candle on her dessert. The pool was lovely could do with a bit of a clean but nothing major, the pool staff have Emmalee arm bands when she didn't feel confident in the big pool but it's only 1.3 metres so it's very comfortable to play and have fun. The food is simply outstanding I've never had a fish pie as good in any restaurant in any c... Read more

Stayed one night. Ate at the hotel bar- service was excellent - menu was diverse and food was delicious and reasonably priced- recommend!! The hotel room was average - slightly disappointed with extras- simple things like no disposal shower caps... extra blankets and we had a noisy (broken) hairdryer. The breakfast was not value for money. It was very basic- self service full irish... quality of the food was poor... I have to say I haven't seen this type of buffet breakfast with very limit... The hotel on the whole is quite nice, rooms are clean and tidy, breakfast is fine too. One major problem is the temperature in the rooms, they are like sweat boxes, seriously way too hot.. Every single person we spoke too had the same experience, you can't spend more than a few minutes in the room without breaking out in a ridiculous sweat... I would recommend that you find another hotel with aircon...

Myself and 4 friends visited this hotel at the weekend for a night. We had spa treatments booked in Zen to start our break... Such a disappointment. I had the 'mother to be package' which consisted of mini facial, mini pedi and mini manicure. The mani and pedi were awful... Nail polish not applied properly to nails and some smudged, but of course could not see this until after I had left because of dim lighting. Facial was nice, but far too long for a mother to be to be lying flat on back!! The ... Read more

I would like to thank Shane and Jason for all their help when we returned to the hotel late Saturday night. Unfortunately I had a small accident and these two lads went above and beyond their means to help me. I can truly say I have never met two of the nicest men. I will be ever so thankful.

Athlone springs hotel, lovely, staff very friendly, lovely food, it has two floors, a swimming pool and spa, our rooms were situated on top of the swimming pool complex, rooms comfy but no air conditioning, staff had to bring up fans as the heat in the rooms were unbearable. Reception staff very helpful, when we needed a taxi into town they had it ordered within minutes. bar staff not so friendly though, it was a small bar and as we waited to be served we felt as though we were being ignored

This hotel is average. To start we were looking for a midweek break and got a good deal on the hotel website that couldn't be passed and considering the good reviews it got we jumped on it. I also wanted to book in for a beauty treatment in Zen beauty, rang twice the week before arriving left 2 voicemails and neither were returned. Rang again 2 days before going left a message got a call back to say they were fully booked but would see what they could do and would get back to me. Still waiting ... Read more

My husband and I have just come back from a two day break in the Athlone, staying at the Athlone Springs Hotel. We first took a very restful, informative cruise on the Shannon with River Run Cruises. From the moment we entered the hotel the staff, Jillian and Tara made us feel very welcome. We had a lovely lunch in the hotel bar and booked our dinner in the Cedar Restaurant for both nights. The manager, Conor and his staff particularly, Padraig, Jillian and Shane went out of their way to mad... Read more

Spent two nights here mixing business and pleasure. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Quiet and peaceful surroundings. Free Wifi with good connection. Enjoyed the leisure facilities - sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, etc. Breakfast was nice and hot with plenty of lighter options too. Loads to do in town as well - shopping, art museum (free entry), river cruises (reasonably priced). Overall a very relaxing and fun couple of days in Athlone.

This is a mid-range, relatively modern hotel on the outskirts of Athlone. I have stayed here on a couple of previous occasions and I am very happy to return again when working in town. The staff are always helpful and welcoming; the rooms are comfortable and ideal for an overnight stay and the food in the bar and restaurant is tasty and filling. I attended a conference there this year and the staff could not have organised the venue and facilities better.

Stayed here for one night for our wedding anniversary recently. Lovely girl met us at reception and checked us in and gave us all the information we needed. Food was top quality. We had an evening meal included in our deal and sometimes the menu is very limited but not on this occasion. We had a great selection on the menu and the food was cooked and presented to the highest standard. After dinner we made our way to the bar and found a quiet cosy bar with very attentive bar staff. Reception staff were very nice, bar and restaurant very nice and well priced and the leisure center has all that you could want, The room we got was directly above the gym and sauna so it was very hot. It only had one small window that was restricted in how much you could open it (8 - 10 inches at most) and the cold water was not working in the bath or shower. Was told maintenance would fix it in the morning. After having to try sleep an uncomfortable and noisy night with two fans on throughou... Read more

Stayed here for a night away with my partner and it couldn't have gone much worse really! The first room we were put in was freezing cold and the heat could not be adjusted. When we attempted to ring down to reception to tell them of this and to order room service we discovered the phone did not work! My partner had to go down to reception to ask if there could be anything done with the heat and to notify them of the broken phone. He also ordered our room service. I am a member of zen fitness club and the pool is very clean, showers are warm, changing rooms clean but the big problem with zen fitness is the pool it is freezing cold.So when you are in the pool your shivering. Cedar bar has lovely food and i highly recommend the onion rings. But do not go to sunday cavery as it is very poor quality and food is left standing all day! Everything fine and the hotel is beautiful. But they really need to warm up the pool!!!!!!!

Having recently stayed in a proper 4 star hotel, the Athlone Springs just does not cut it as that. To be a four star hotel it should be high end and luxurious. The room we stayed in, the swimming pool and the restaurant are in need of a good clean. Examples of this are: the highchairs we were provided at breakfast time were dirty. The bathroom in our room had toothpaste marks on the tiles, the loo seat had urine stains on it. One day our room was not cleaned or items such as toilet roll or towel... Read more

Myself and my family booked this hotel mainly because it marketed itself as being suitable for families. We have two children aged 6 and 11. Our idea was to have a short break in a hotel with a good kids club, so the children would be entertained , we could relax and we loved the fact that there was an evening club so we , as parents , could enjoy a meal alone. However this was not to be the case, instead we experienced the following... Athlone Springs have employed what can only be described a... Read more

Nice hotel, nice pool and kids club, kids really enjoyed it. Food was really good. Hotel a bit out of town in an industrial type retail park but that didn't bother us. Only gripe I had was lack of AC in the rooms, uncomfortably hot and stuffy, and it was typical Irish weather at the time, pleasant but no heatwave ! The hotel had fans going in the room so they know its very hot !

We decided to break our journey from South London to Connemara. The first impression given by the reception staff was positive.
