I always stay here when in Kuta.. Love the pool area.. Location is perfect for me out the back exit onto Jalan Bakung Sari.. Finally used the in house spa salon for awesome massages and a body scrub I adored.. Two of each.. The prices are far more competitive now than what they were a while back.. The new reno's has certainly been a blessing in some of the rooms.. The staff are beautiful.. Always smiling and helpful.. I had a few bites to eat from restaurant, all great.. Breakfast is adequate an... Read more

This is a budget accommodation for budget price. The rooms are old and the decor is out dated. Pool was clean grounds were tidy. I liked that they sprayed for mosquitos regularly. The restaurant is very basic food Staff are friendly service is good and is walkable distance to town

Great staff make this a welcome retreat. Edi the manager speaks to guests and welcomes feedback. Not suitable for children unless under strict adult supervision. No kids club and only 1 pool so responsible parenting is appreciated.

Budget hotel that has everything you need. Quick check in, clean comfortable rooms with balcony on upstairs room. Air -Con very good in rooms, large flat screen TV with lots of English speaking channels and bed was comfortable, Clean well kept pool area, basic buffet breakfast usually included in price. Good for short stay but don't expect the 5 star glass and brass.

We chose this hotel due to the pool bar, cheap budget and near walk to the beach. But if I could turn back the clocks I would. Usually I am not fussy about where I stay however this hotel felt dirty and worn out. Firstly when we arrived only one of our rooms was ready, we were told the other would be ready by 5 but in fact it wasn't ready till 7:30. Bit disappointing. Secondly, the bed sheets were yellow(meant to be white). They didn't feel clean and the towel had a big hand print on. The po... Read more

I have never been stuck for words, but am finding it difficult to pick the right words to describe this Hotel. Firstly, I'll just give some pros, then list what we found were negatives. Pros - Cheap - Location is good behind Lippo Mall - pool was good - grounds OK - old style Balinese. Negatives - Service average - not enough lounges around pool - breakfast in restaurant very average with limited choice - pool towels non existent or hard to get - air con in room not working correctly - linen o... Cheap and ok hotel with good location. You can also enter the hotel from to streets. Nice and clean, and simple but good breakfast included. We stayed here for 2 nights only as we where travelling further north of bali. Could easily stayed here longer.

The location of this hotel was brilliant and the staff are lovely. It is a traditional Balinese hotel and despite being old, it is beautiful! However, this is a budget hotel! We had the renovated rooms which were lovely but mine stank of cigarette smoke! Awful when you are not a smoker!! The towels and sheets are clean but old. No towels for the pool! You have to put up with rowdy drunken backpackers returning from nightclubs in the early hours of the morning followed by large families whose see... Read more

1.I booked for a pre-payment reservation but upon our arrival, it hadn't been charged yet. I asked them three times to check the updated credit card details but no action taken! They just charged it on the last day of our stay. 2.They wrote my credit card details on paper!!! That's very confidential! They should protect the confidentiality of their guest's credit card. 3.I asked the waitress to prepare our packed breakfast. I told her it's for room 304 but when we went at the reception at 2am,... The hotel is located next to everything! Rooms and pool area are clean! Breakfast is good! The tv in the room is one of the best compared to any other hotel I have stayed in whilst travelling Bali! Only thing I'd request is that they possibly put a plug socket on each side of the double beds. Amazing value for the price would definitely recommend!

Bakung Sari's best selling point is the excellent location, just on the edge of the tourist area of Kuta. The hotel has two exits: one through the spa, leading you straight into the tourist area (beach only a 5 minute walk) and one through the reception leading to the non-tourist area. This way you can get a quiet night sleep and still be close to the beach and shops. In the non-tourist area you will find many great warungs (local restaurants). These are way cheaper than tourist orientated res... Read more

Paid £13 a night. We just used it for the day as we had a late night flight. We checked in early (10.30am?) and so this hotel was perfectly located for a day of shopping and dining in Kuta. Near to the beach and amongst the shops but without too much traffic noise. Pool area is nice and staff are very kind and helpful. No towels provided for the pool so bring your own!

the place has great potential can be made one of best hotels in kuta I fell in love with the sense of architecture and design it gives you the real feeling of history and culture ,,the grounds are greatly designed ,,,the pool area is superb in general the building it self is amazing when it comes to the hotel side : the entrance stinks with sewage smell.....the internet is only 0.5 mbs at the reception desk only..( practically nonexistent) .the towels smell bad..the bed squeaks ... Brilliant value for money. Quite basic. Do not expect *** accommodation. But the shower worked well, which was unusual in Bali. Ideal for walking the shops. A bit noisy with all the traffic and scooters!! Good, basic, fresh breakfast, nice pool, basic room. The whole place needed a bit of TLC and updating.

This hotel represents great value for money considering the central location. So close to everything but the down side to this is it's a bit noisy. I had not stayed in Kuta before so it was a nice change but my preference is definitely Legian. We had booked a standard superior room but upon check in, it did not have a balcony. They kindly upgraded us to a deluxe room at no extra charge. The bathroom was nicer, great block out curtains and it had a nice balcony overlooking the clean swimming pool... Read more

I booked a room at this hotel for one night knowing that I was going on to Java in the morning, It came with an included breakfast, The hotel is a bit hard to find being down a side street. My brother who had come from Java to pick me up programmed the adress into hos GPS and it had difficulty locating the place let alone providing directions on how to get there. A local eventually got him to follow him to the hotel and he was ok after that. The grounds are quite nice with lots of tropical pla... Read more

We stayed in this hotel for 2 weeks (week 32 and 33). The hotel is old and almost situated in the middle of Kuta, only 5 - 10 minutes walk from the beach. We had the cheapest rooms, without an balkony. Rooms are big enough and there is everything you need (TV, fridge, phone, airco, Wifi and a bathtub/shower) and absolute no street noice. Staff is very friendly. Swimmingpool is very clean but not so big. Breakfast is good enough, you can choose, nasi, bami, bread, omelette, boiled eggs, coffee, m... Read more

I travelled to Bali in February/March 2016. I stayed in room 137?? Bottom floor directly next door to the dining area. It was a joint room, with my grandmother. I travelled with my family (Payne) who frequently travel there every year. The rooms were very nice, and clean. Service in the hotel was delightful everyday. People smiled and said hello. It was very welcoming. I can not wait to go back and visit. The food is great from the restaurant. I suggest their killer Tomato and Cheese Jaffle!... Read more

I have stayed at the Bakungsari Hotel 4 times now it seems to have declined over the years especially it's rooms with it's squeaky bed there were no towels each time you have a shower. The staff were rude at breakfast they need to have some sort of retraining as they were not very attentive one morning I had to wait 25 minutes for my eggs and then I had to go to get them. We will not be coming back to this hotel there's better Hotels around Kuta without a doubt it's sad but they need to invest... Read more

I went there with my partner, in August this year and we were expecting something casual because the price is really affordable but not a disgusting, dirty and old place, when we got there, they told us the hotel was overbooked so we we not gonna get the room we paid for. Myself and my girlfriend stayed here for two nights at the beginning of our two week Bali holiday. The accommodation was fairly basic, but clean and the pool area was nice. Would be greatly improved with a higher quality breakfast-choice was not great and a few more loungers around the pool would have been nice. Overall, a good location, clean and tidy rooms, but small improvements would have made our stay much more enjoyable.

Shower head is halfway down the wall. Breakfast is noodles and rice. 20% of staff were nice. Pool has many rules and a busy body resident who feels she must enforce the rules and complain to staff. I will never go back here and I do not recommend it. Spend a lil extra and stay somewhere else.

We booked a double bed room through Expedia. Only to get there, check in, and the room is 2 singles. This wasn't an issue, we were happy to wait for a double to come available. When my boyfriend went to reception to try and change the room (as we had paid for a double) the staff were so unhelpful, saying it wasn't their problem and we needed to contact the website, they couldn't do anything about it as they had no double rooms left. Older Balinese style hotel close to JL legian and a short walk to Kuta Beach and Waterbom. Very good value for money if you don't mind that the sheets are a bit worn. Staff were friendly, room was promptly made up each day once I hung the sign on the door. Lovely gardens. Good value food at the restaurant.

I booked this place through the Internet. It was very cheap accommodation compared to other places I'd stayed in Bali. As the months went on I thought 'what if this place is as bad as the reviews?' I went with my cousins end of October & we were very happy with everything about this place. We had the buffet brekky our first morning & weren't impressed. Apart from that the accommodation was everything we needed & not like the reviews we'd read. I'd happily go back to this place with my kids. Als... Read more

After looking on the Internet for cheap accommodation in Bali for two couples I came across The Bakung Sari resort and spa. I read the reviews, some were quite bad others were good, I conceded that the main issues were that breakfast was not good and many people seem to have issues with getting clean towels. With this in mind I booked two deluxe rooms knowing full well that we would probably go out for breakfast each morning and that I may need to purchase a couple of towels in the market. afte...
