Staying on the houseboat was definitely a very different experience. Basically you get the experience of staying on a boat with 2 rooms sharing a dining room, living room and porch. There were 2 staff on hand to cater to our needs which I must say was quite nice and pampering. Food is served in the dining area at your convenience. Price-wise it is pretty pricey, equivalent of the top hotels. However, you should not book this expecting the same standards as the top hotels. It is really the expe... Read more

We had an amazing experience here. Our houseboat had super premium royal furnishings and meals were lavish and home cooked. We had the living, dining rooms and two butlers to ourselves, as we were the only occupants of the houseboat, with the second room vacant. A must visit, and worth what we spent.

We stayed in Gurkha houseboat at Nigeen lake for 2 nights after our return from Gulmarg .. We had a very good care taker Mr Riyaz on our boat , who took good care of us and he became a good buddy to my little angel as well .. The food served here was simply awesome , yummy and so homely . We Enjoyed quiet & peaceful evenings at the lake with the reflection of the full moon on the still waters .

The experience, location and the concept is amazing. WelcomHeritage Houseboats have exceptionally good service, rooms and staying experience. A mesmerising view adds to the charm of the Hotel experience. The facilities, staff service and management is outstanding. It's location is such that being within the city, it is well situated away from the city commotion, which gives great peace in stay.

We had a wonderful experience at the Gurkha House Boat. The staff were very caring, especially Gula & Muzaffar. They ensured we had a memorable experience. The Kashmiri cuisine for dinner was delicious. The suite was beautiful & the view to die for. Isaaq, the manager took special care of us. Overall a memorable stay. I would strongly recommend to stay here.

We started our Kashmir tour with 2 nights stay in Gurkha House Boat. We had booked Three beded Suit after discussing with their office. But when we reached there we were allotted their regular suit and were told that they do not have three beded suit. Any how we had no choice and accepted it. Suit was specious enough for two persons and not for three. Additional bed was laid on the floor. The room next to our suit was not different from the suit offered to us. In every houseboat there are two,... Read more

If you want to experience a houseboat in Srinagar then this is the best choice for you. Outstanding houseboat with all modern amenities- the rooms are well appointed - the bathrooms are very modern with bathtubs- good wifi connection-excellent food served in dinner and an extremely helpful staff - You can just sit in the balcony of your houseboat and gaze along the waters of the Nigeen lake- it's much quieter and far more exclusive than the Dal lake..there would be many hawkers who would come o... We stayed in the Gurkha houseboats for one night during our stay in Srinagar. It was like a home on the lake with a friendly attendant. The food was delicious and plenty, felt like home food with a Kashmiri touch. It was great to see the sunset and the sunrise from the porch, as if I can sit there for eternity. The height of the stay was the floating shops coming to you with their commodities. Being a shopaholic I spent quite an amount there. However, you need to bargain hard for the right price... There are about 6-7 houseboats that are under the Gurkha name, and we stayed in Houseboat # 2. We were ending our 7 day trip with a night at the Gurkha, were tired of traveling around/ haggling and eating out. I feel that this place is the perfect foil for such travel. There are 2 caretakers who ensured that each little need is taken care of, are very friendly. The woodwork is amazing and you can click a few pics with the artifacts in the place. The food is something that will bring a smile to y... Read more

Very pretty houseboats in Nageen Lake (6 of them) and we stayed in #2. The interiors were immaculately clean and beautifully maintained. Kashmiri handicrafts adorned the interiors and the caretakers proudly narrated the history of the houseboats and their owners. Highlight was the food which was homely and delicious. A walk in the garden at the back was wonderful. Very hospitable and warm staff. Just watching at the lake and beyond while sipping piping Kehwa sitting at the deck, was very relaxi... Read more

We had visited Srinagar in June 2016, and after doing lot of research had zeroed down on Gurkha houseboat by WelcomHeritage group of ITC. We didn't have so nice experience in Kerala houseboats, so were not sure how good these houseboats at Srinagar would be. To our pleasant surprise, Gurkha houseboats were just amazing. They were maintained in an excellent conditions. We reached the houseboat through the Shikara ride, which in itself was a nice experience. We were received whole-heartedly by Mr.... Read more

We checked in on 27th June for a 1 night stay as a last part of our Kashmir itinerary before departing to Mumbai on 28th June. On the departure day, I requested the Houseboat Manager Mr. Shaukat for a one hour extension (1 pm checkout) as our car was to arrive at 1 pm to take us to the airport. The Manager flatly refused our request & made us pack our bags & empty the room by 12 noon sharp, even though there were no incoming guests arriving till we left the houseboat at 1 pm. Moreover, our requ... Read more

Our last stop for the Kashmir Trip was Gurkha. We were eight members, so we booked a houseboat of four rooms. The welcome group owned the Gurkha houseboats. They have 6-7 boats. We were on the boat number second. These houseboats are not in the Dal Lake (which is a good part). After the tiring journey, the last day was perfect for the houseboat. Relaxing and soothing. There were two caretakers they gave us a warm welcome. The houseboat was extremely beautiful, interiors ambience and décor was ... Read more

We stayed in Gurkha houseboat on 29th Jun for 1 night. Took 3 rooms so practically whole houseboat was ours and it was so much fun. They make you feel staying at home and it feels like home only. Rooms are spacious and are very well maintained with good decor. Bathroom quality is good too compared to other houseboats. Overall decor ambience makes you feel that you are staying in Luxury and it's worth paying the extra amount as it is one of the most expensive houseboat in Srinagar. Food quality i... Read more

We have been in the Houseboat for one day. The Houseboat is in the Nageen lake. If you want peace and tranquility, this is the place. The food was excellent. You can have shikara ride. Only problem is the salesman through the shikara may pester you. We should have spent more time there. You should go with friends and family.

My wife and I stayed there for 5 nights and those were some of the best 5 nights we spent in any hotel. A lovely houseboat that is clean and comfortable. We stayed in boat number 5. As it is, Nigeen lake is a very quiet place without any of the tourist hustle bustle that Dal lake witnesses. We were made to feel completely at home by the manager Shawkat. And a few words must be said of Erfan and Shareef, the attendants. They were ever smiling and ever obliging, pandering us with every detail of c... Read more
