We stayed here on our return to Pondy and our selection of the hotel was a great choice. The room was on the first floor and had loungers outside on the terrace. The room itself was first class with an excellent shower. The food was excellent and the cooking demonstration each evening by one of the chefs, very informative. We really enjoyed our stay here for 2 nights and would recommend the hotel to future travellers. If we return to Pondy we will not hesitate to book this hotel again.

We stayed there for 3 nights from 24th march to 27th march.Pretty small with 10 rooms only.with cute verandas and courtyards full of plants.Good location if you dont get place to stay in the French section and are ready to walk to Gaubert Avenue etc Food was mainly uninspiring and inspid though at lunch Chettinaad dishes were much better!! There is no room service and no kettle for tea or hot water in the room I t really needs to improve its standards a bit !!!

We stayed here for one night whilst touring Tamil Nadu and it was a lovely experience. We were welcomed with a refreshing drink whilst checking in sitting in the lovely cool atrium. The hotel is small with bags of character and the food - we had lunch, dinner and breakfast was all first class. I would throroughly recommend a stay here

Firstly the hotel is a heritage building 130 years old and is a beautiful property with lovely verandas and courtyard full of plants and greenery. It is in the Tamil quarter but close to the beach and the MG Road. The room no.5 on the first floor was spacious and the bathroom a bit cramped but clean and very well maintained. The minuses were that they do not have room service and do not have a mini fridge or even a kettle for tea or coffee in the room. So when one is used to having an early m... Read more

We stayed one night at Maison Perumal in Puducherry at the end of March. The staff were amazing and so helpful. The food was good, what we tasted. The four poster looked inviting but having sat down on it the four poster bit collapsed on us! We laid it gently on the floor and didn't attempt to put it back together! The bathroom was very pokey but clean. Puducherry is delightful and very clean and the hotel is a delight.

Kudos to the team. Everything about the property is nice. Pros: Good location - Shopping street is just a 10 min walk from Maison perumal, and beach a 15 min walk, Rooms are a bit small but still nice . Restrooms are super clean. Food is out of the world. Good south indian dishes. Cons: The only one that I can think of is that the rooms don't have a balcony/Patio

The Maison Perumal gives guests a sense of what a historic house was like in Pondicherry. The rooms were comfortable and the staff was exceedingly attentive. We ate several meals there and always enjoyed them. Its easy walking distance to the marine promenade along the beach. Be sure to try the Indian filtered coffee!

Most quaint little hotel set amidst the Tamil quarter. The interiors are done in a lovely manner. There's the Tamil influenced floor and the french inspired floor for the guests. The staff was most hospitable, the best part about the hotel. The service was immaculate and set a very friendly homely environment for us. It happened to be my friend's birthday, the hotel staff decorated the room as well as gifted us with a lovely cake while we had gone out. Welcomed by such a wonderful surprise. They... Read more

I booked Maison Perumal for our 2 day stay at Pondicherry. The Hotel is small and beautiful, but very old. ACs don't work properly and fans make sound. Leaving that part, the cleanliness deserves 100/100, and food too. If they can refurbish few things in the house it would be the best. The staff were really helpful in arranging another room when AC in our room stopped working. And wifi deserves some marks too. Superb speed.

Spend 2 nights in this nice boutique hotel, very well located in Puduchery, Christian district near the French district. Spacious rooms (3 rooms booked for the large family), very good refurbishment of the building (Vieilles Maisons Francaises approved). Very friendly welcome, the team is always trying to do the best for you. And don't hesitate to have dinner at the restaurant, excellent tamul food.

This beautiful place is a hidden gem in all Pondicherry. Since arriving till the end the staff helped us have one of the most amazing times in our trip. They took special care about my girlfriend allergy needs and help us have an amazing time discovering this beautiful city.

gorgeously restored heritage Tamil house, full of character and culture. amazingly helpful and sweet staff. CGH earth is an added feather in the hat, they have a lesser environmental impact in comparison to other chains. The hotel is nestled amidst the Tamil quarter of the town with other residents surrounding it. It is quiet and away from the bustle of the promenade beach, yet close enough to reach in 5-10 minutes by foot. Ofcourse the food is to die for, we ate 3 meals here. Not sure of the cu... Read more

In the heart of the Indian quarters this hotel has retained the old times homes style with its central open quadrangle inside the hotel. While we did not stay here, it is definitely on my list for next time. However we had lunch at their restaurant where all the dishes were prepared fresh. There was not a single dish we found lacking The grilled jumbo prawns and their tender coconut soufflé were par excellence To top it up their staff were very courteous and friendly

This one from the CGH Group is as good as the other property Palais de Mahe in Pondicherry. We were staying at Palais De Mahe and visited this place for lunch as adviced by some locals. The interior is nicely done with lots of plants and has a old charm look with open courtyard, stain glass, lots of wood work. From outside its quite un-assuming but inside its like a different world to explore. Food was excellent - mostly local cuisine and freshly done. Service was good. You need to wait for ... Read more

Maison Perumal - the name says it all; Maison is house in French and Perumal is the name of the street where the hotel is located. The hotel is housed in a 130+ year old heritage structure that is characteristic of Franco-Indian (Tamil) architecture. If you are looking for a comfortable, pleasant and homely stay laced with local flavors and traditions - this is the place for you. The hotel also has a cosy bar.  The staff are extremely polite and caring with a passion to serve. All of them mai... Read more

We stayed at Maison perumal for two nights and three days. It was a good experience only thing what I thought was it was good if they had some kind of air cooler at the dining area since they don't have in room service for food one is forced to have food at the dining room.Would say it's a good idea but the heat is something difficult to bear for people who isn't familiar with the climate hence enjoying food would be difficult.

Loved this hotel. It has the charm and culture of an old Indian home with modern comforts. The rooms are spacious and clean with air conditioning. There was also a really cute bar with old Tamil movie posters. The service was also really good! Staying in this lovely place made our trip. Highly recommend!

Our lunch was delicious, in a quiet atmosphere at the courtyard, the coconut chutney was thick and tasty, the grilled fish with fennel and the coconut rice very well done. The fish curry had the Kerala touch in it. It is one of the most amazing places in Pondy to discover the value of Indian spices and the friendly way of the personnel.

We stayed for two nights - everything is simple but nice. The staff are outstanding and the food is good. Breakfast is fine but set menu of fruit, juice, muesli and one hot local dish. Has a lift. The rickshaw bicycle tour is only for for the strong - I did my back in and my wife was scared. The cyclist looked like he was going to die after every few minutes. However the sister hotel has massage which I needed. So maybe a good business model! After the Leela Palace in Chennai this made a pleasan... Read more

This delightful hotel, a former residence in Pondicherry, was simply delightful. The ambience and charm made you instantly warm to the place, and the very friendly staff was an added bonus. Although the menu was not extensive, the food was delicious and the chef was happy to send you menus of any of the dishes on offer. The air conditioned rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated, and the bedroom key is the biggest I've ever seen. It is ideally placed for exploring the town and I wouldn'... Read more

I booked this hotel based on the trip advisor reviews and thank God for that. This is the best hotel I have ever been to. Ranging from the musical French and Tamil fusion this place has to offer, the staff and food are also worth a mention. The rooms and the courtyard is a reminiscent of the French influence. The staff is very friendly and professional. One should not miss out on their food as it is the best in the entire city. This is the best place to stay at if one is planning to visit Pondic...
