We are so glad we chose King's Cliff for our first stay in Ooty. A carpet of fresh grass and colorful flowers surround this charming colonial style bungalow converted into a hotel. The views from the hotel are breath taking. The rooms are done up simplistically and comfortably. The bed linen and mattress are very good. The cheerful and unobtrusive staff are helpful. A plate of just out of the oven, butter cookies are delivered to your room at teatime and were awaited, and gobbled up instantly. W... Read more

This place is a Scottish Bungalow with vintage rooms. There is a fire place with high ceilings. The rooms are named after Shakespeare's novels/characters. They have about nine rooms large enough to accommodate a family of four. The place is clean with nice gardens and the food is good.I found the breakfast cold, maybe due to the ambient temperature. Transportation is available on request. WiFi is available only at the Lobby. Overall a nice experience.

Nice place overall. Tempest room I stayed in is surrounded by the dining area and kitchens and the windows open to the drive in so there tends to be noise. Talking about noise one night there was a large party going on in the lawns and all around with loud music till past midnight. The staff are very friendly and the room and bathroom are clean and well laid out though cupboard/ hanging space is limited. Break fast was ample.

Stayed at the hotel just for a night in May 2015 but got good memories for life. The hotel has a old world charm, food is great and so is the service. The staff did its best to make us comfortable, the garden was beautiful and walking in the garden in the rain was a fulfilling experience. The breakfast spread was good enough a gentleman comes to sing at the hotel every day in the evening and all the guest gathered in the lobby to listen to him. This made us feel as if one big happy family was ho... Read more

On visiting kings cliff again after 2 years, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the place has retained its charm. The retro live music, the fireplace, the glasshouse and the story behind the place , all augment to making the dining a wonderful experience. though I found the rooms to be a little suffocating, the restaurant is brilliant!

Beautiful place. If you would like to enjoy a nice holiday in the arms of nature, this is where you should be. The crackle of the firewood, beautiful Ooty right in front of you when you wake up and to top it all off, a lovely glasshouse to keep you warm.....you definitely should visit this place. The colonial structure takes you back to the age of the memsahibs and Sahibs of the British era. Lovely ambience and fantastic food. The staff are very courteous and helpful. The maintenance of the ro... Read more

Stayed for a few nights, and had 2 rooms [Verona and Tempest] - both the rooms are very close to the dining area and incredibly noisy. Tempest is a huge room, with a seating area and big bathroom. Verona however is a small room with no windows or natural light. Grounds are beautiful and you're far away from the hustle and bustle of Ooty city. That said, the property needs a love of love and care. The pathway leading to the hotel has tons of litter on both sides, and a huge garbage dump at the ... Read more

Nice property and nice location a little away from the buzz of the city. Peace and Tranquility are the prime attraction. Earl a multi cuisine restaurant is one of the best in town and have a nice selection of food. The housekeeping and especially the horticulture department is commendable. The only let down was breakfast service. Overall a nice property to stay in,

Old world charm. 150 years old property. Still managed very well. It gives you a feeling and experience of British era.Very quiet place. Little away from the main town at the top. Their restaurant ( Earl's secret) serves best of the food. never expected to get such a delicious meals at such a distance. Their signature Brownie with ice cream is a must try. Overall I had a wonderful stay there.

This massive bungalow ( with 9 rooms ,3 restaurant rooms/ and lobby with a small reception) has been well maintained and resembles Army Mess in Dehradun/ Nanital/Ranikhet ..with wooden flooring and high sealing. If you want to experience the British era or the Army Mess then there is every reason for you to stay in Kings cliff . The owners have managed to retain the regal essence of the past British era in this property .there is live music every evening and firewood lit up in each room at night... Read more

In the lush greenery of the pine trees and the heart of mountain lies a British mansion, it's rooms are named after Shakespeare's plays and the dinning room has an aura of that old British ballroom. The cuisine is continental and exquisitely served. Do dine in the garden with the view of ootty and hills behind you. The aura of British has been intimately preserved.

This is a good place to stay if travelling to Ooty with family. I personally feel that this place does not get it's share of fame & recognition. But maybe that helps maintain the calmness that goes in hand with the nippy air and serene ambience. The quietness and greenery are charming & soothing to the mind & soul!

The location cannot be better. Its actually on a cliff with practically no neighbors. So very silent atmosphere with great views from the room. Its a British type colonial structure. Unfortunately, the furniture, doors, windows etc is rickety & distastefully done. For the room tariff paid (Rs.6000/- per night) its not value for money. Also they provide Queen size bed which is insufficient if you wish to sleep comfortably or if a kid is also involved. Also room sizes are very small hence an extra... Read more

This boutique hotel is makes history come to life. We stayed in the honeymoon sweet and were tended to attentively by all staff. Whether it was lighting our personal fire or arranging water bottles for us whilst having dinner, all in all we felt spoilt and special. The other guests were sociable, making it an unforgettable experience with excellent views. Thank you!

They dont have a swimming pool, They dont have a wifi in room, They dont have a bath tub or jaccuzi. However this place will leave you elated and satisfied and even make you feel like an idiot for thinking that the prerequisites of a good place to stay include all these modern amenities. That is Kings Cliff- Earls Secret. Rather than calling it a hotel it should be called an experience. I had pre booked the room on go ibibo? And we got it at a pretty cheap rate. While checking in I askd for a... Read more

Number of people: 3 couples and 3 kids (ages ranging from 9 months to 4 years) Rooms: 2 garden facing rooms and 1 inside) Having read the reviews online we really didn't have second thoughts on choosing this as one of the place of stay for our group trip (the other being Destiny farmstay belonging to the same group which I've reviewed as well). Let me begin by saying that none of us wanted to visit ooty as in ooty city (which over the years has become super congested). Our expectation out of oot... Read more
