Lobby was nice enough, staff was nice and helpful. Room felt like a cheap hostel, old curtains, old bedding and furniture, tv had one channel. Bathroom was ok. Room was clean but the hotel felt deserted like something out of the movie "The Shining". Spend a little extra and stay in the city center by the shops and restaurants. Would not recommend. To top it off, I am traveling with my travel agent friend, who booked at a travel agent rate - shouldn't the hotel want her to recommend the hotel and... Read more

Spent 3 nights in Radisson Blu Saga Hotel. The hotel is 15 minutes outside the centre of town, in a very pleasant area with a super view from the high floors, but we may have liked a more convent location. The hotel rooms are comfortable, but need refreshed. Bathroom very clean, with ample toiletries and towels. Breakfast offers a good selection. Did not eat in the Hotel for an evening meal. Staff very helpful and friendly.

How Radisson can allow this run down decrepit old hotel to use its name is beyond me. 315 USD per night for a dirty old hotel with out dated and worn furnishings. Badly located, rude staff, blow flys in the room, curtains that won't close properly, unfashionable, over priced and just plain nasty in all respects. Radisson you should be ashamed. I rely on your name to ensure I get quality and value for money. I won't make that mistake again and feel completely misled. I'll be going out of my wa... Read more

This is a no go for us, actually one of the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. The hotel is really old and lack basic maintenance: no light in the corridor (yes!!!), very tired bedroom with stains everywhere, old furnitures, TV not working ect... They should close this hotel for renovation. On the + side: breakfast and location were good.

Rent a car if you wish to stay at Radisson Blu Saga. Plenty of parking. Otherwise, be prepared to walk to the city center. However, it's near to the Iceland National Museum where you can get to know much of the history of Iceland up to its present time. Choose the Radisson Blu 1919 for city center location when not renting a car.

There was major construction works going on in the hotel so the spa, fitness centre and pool was closed. Our room was supposed to be in the newly renovated part of the hotel and all I can say is that I would not have liked to have seen it before. Dirty mattresses that could be seen through the thin sheets that were even ripped. !!!!!

We stayed at the Radisson blu saga, which is part of the Carlson club chain, while in Reykjavik on business. The location is not the most convenient to town, although you can walk there in about 10 to 15 minutes. The hotel itself is currently being renovated, so there was a lot of construction noise throughout the day. The beds were very comfortable and the blackout curtain certainly helped with the midnight sun. The room looked worn. The bathtub is high to climb into and was very slippery. The ... Read more

We had asked for our hotels to be in the city center and were surprised this was on the outskirts next to some construction. The walk back into town is about 10-15 minutes so not bad and was good exercise. The two times we checked in we were greeted by friendly staff and made to feel welcome. They answered our questions and suggested things to do. The bar area offers comfortable seating and the bar staff is friendly. This was my second stay at Radisson Blu Saga - and hotel is decent. This time it was under construction so spa and fitness was closed. The hotel looks like something taken out of an eastern European suburb, and so does the rooms. Everything works, but just seem a bit worn down.Restaurant on the top floor is good, so is the breakfast buffet, and all in all I actually like the hotel - and staying here. My premier visit to Iceland, I was comforted by the thought of staying at a Radisson Blu hotel since I am a member of their Carlsson Club program. The location is not too bad. But then the whole country is an awesome location! I would have easily given this hotel a 4 or 4.5 rating except it is undergoing renovation and my room wasn't the most modern one in the property. The hotel is about a 15-minute walk from downtown and a stone's throw from the very good Icelandic National Museum. It is close to the bus depot so connections to the international airport are fine. Radisson Blu is usually a reliable chain but this one rather lets down the brand. The rooms are large but in need of some TLC. No coat hangers on arrival. Apparently the hotel is know locally as 'The Farmer's Hotel' - it's owned by a consortium. And it's a fine enough hotel; currently undergoing renovation (and it needs it) - it would be great if the staff attitudes could be renovated too. An old fashioned slightly shabby hotel that needs updating. Staying in June meant long hours of daylight and the curtains were not up to the job, they didn't keep the light out and did not make for a good night‚??s rest. Also walls thin so woken by to in next room very early in the morning, presumably also unable to sleep because of the light. On the plus side the staff were charming and the breakfasts good.

It's a very old hotel, smelly, with a very poor internet service. There is a big gap between the hotel pictures and the reality. Location is ok... it's a quite zone walking distance from commercial and touristic area.

This Hotel is low class for Radisson. Everything you want from a high class hotel is there. But everything is old and and in a '70 style. The room we stayed in was OK but again, damn old equipment. The bathroom is equipped with an old fashion bathtub where you can hardly take a shower. Dear Management of Radisson either you close it, sell it or perform a total restoration because this is not what a Radisson guest expects from your hotel.

Having stayed here years ago I wasn't excited about returning, however it's improving. I am currently in a newly refurbished room and the room is great. It's got a modern shower room with good water pressure and it's spotless. The double bed is comfy and the furniture is modern and suitable. A few basic selections of to channels and ok wifi. The bar is friendly but old fashioned, breakfast is good enough and a good choice of foods. The spa is closed but the fitness room is open, basic but new ... Read more

In the 60's or 70's this was probably a great place. But now? Peeling paint inside and out. Door that need to be refinished. Bathrooms that look like they haven't been updated since the 70's. No air conditioning in the rooms. Most of the time in Reykjavik that's probably not an issue. But we were there in July. And it was hot. They gave us a fan for the room, but during the day time, it just wasn't enough. Internet connectivity was spotty as well. When we called the "one touch servic... Read more

The hotel is located a bit out of town so a car is required for people staying there. The hotel is nice and the rooms are well equipped. The staff are nice and professional. The beds are comfortable. The food is very nice and tasty with a good variety. However, the hotel is old and tired and definitely needs a face lift. Also one really serious problem is the kitchen ventilation. It is so inefficient that you could smell the cooking fumes all over the hotel corridors. This is totally inacceptabl... Read more

We recently booked this hotel for our visit to Reykjavik. This after staying in several Radisson hotels in other parts of the world, UK, Norway, and the USA. This hotel fails to come up to the standards of ANY of the others. PROBLEMS 1: On arrival our bathroom smelt of to put it mildly of sewage! The sinks did not drain away properly and the smell got worse the more we used the water. The shower in the bath was the same, controlling the temperature was impossible and the shower was installed... Read more

We booked this hotel for two nights rather than a boutique one closer in for one night followed by one at Keflavik the following night for an early flight. The boutique hotel was tight (read tiny and cramped) and we needed to organise ourselves for the next two weeks on the road after 13 nights in Iceland. On check in all was to our expectations. Sure an American style hotel that needed some work but our room was large enough and fairly recently updated so all good. I can say definitively tha... Read more

Spent the 1st week in August there and would recommend it to anyone traveling there for vacation. Great location 10 to 15 min walk to town or bus station. All the tours pick up from hotel they even have a tour office in lobby to book. Breakfast each morning was included and was a lot of choice and well prepared well. Staff was great from front desk to bar tender we had dinner one night in Lobby Buffett and it was very good.

Having read Tripadvisor's always helpful reviews I was worried about this hotel but we had an excellent stay here. We did not get a refurbished room but, having asked for a quiet room, we did get exactly that - a very large and very quiet room on the top floor. Yes, the furniture was shabby but given the price paid and the size and comfort we were extremely happy. Also we thoroughly enjoyed the walk by the old cemetery and the lake into the centre of the city but those with mobility issues wo... Read more

The Radisson is an older hotel but refurbished and beautifully maintained. The excellent staff were very helpful and the extravagant and tasty breakfast buffet has everything anyone could want. A small shop with handmade Icelandic items at the back of the building is additional to a nice gift shop. A lovely stay!

We just spend a view days at Radisson Blu Saga. We really have to point out the service of Mrs. Gudrun Svana. Nice, more then friendly and helpfull all the time. And she never gives up! If it would be out responsability to elect employee of the year - she would be the winner of this Service-Award.

Stayed here because I couldn't find a hotel closer to city center at the last minute. It's about a fifteen minute walk to where everything is. The room was a bit small But it was comfortable. Our room was facing the ocean and had the sun shining all afternoon and so it was hot. Opening the window didn't help much. I would've easily passed on the view for a room with less exposure. The staff is very nice and friendly, and I would stay there again but only if I couldn't find anything closer to cit... Read more

The first thing you notice as you drive up to this hotel is the age and general tried looking facade - it makes you hope that this is not really the hotel you booked. It is about 15 minutes walk from the city centre. Inside, it is more of the the same, but to be fair they are also in the process of renovation, but how long this will take, based on the observations we made when nothing was being done, I cannot say. The rooms are not so bad as the public areas, typical radisson, a little old but ... Read more

We went on a family vacation to Iceland and we were so happy we picked the Radisson Blu Saga for our trip. We arrived in Keflavik early in the morning and the hotel was an easy 40-minute taxi ride through the endless landscape. Once you arrive, you will notice they are doing improvements to the building and the city is doing a project on the back side of the building: we were concerned about this but it proved to be a small inconvenience: nothing major. If you are used to staying in Radisson Blu hotels around the world, be prepared for shock and disappointment if you choose to stay at the Radisson Blu Saga, Reykjavik. It does not come close to their usual standards. It is difficult to sum up this hotel in a few words, it is a very weird place! It seems to be stuck in a time warp, and is very old fashioned and very tired. But it is not all bad, and who knows, after some serious refurbishment and staff training it might redeem itself. The Radisson Blu Saga Hotel is very much in need of renovation inside and outside. A notice near one of the lifts said the exterior was being painted, but I didn't see any signs of this. The public interior areas were very pleasant but the bedrooms were dated, scruffy and definitely in need of redecorating and new furnishings. The curtains were of poor quality with no linings and no blackout curtains. The room I had also needed net curtains. The Windows, on the exterior, were absolutely filthy. ... Read more

The hotel itself is ok and has all the facilities you would expect, albeit the pool was shut when we visited for 3 nights. The breakfast and the bar food were really quite good (12 sausages, 17 mini croissants consumed!). Service, as you would expect anywhere in Iceland, was excellent and they were very helpful. Our room had a cracking view and was spacious and clean, although the sulphur smell when the shower was on is not pleasant (you get used to it) - not the hotel's fault! 15 min walk to th... Read more

Very different product than the Radisson Blu product in the US, but comfortable and very pleasant and helpful staff. Has a mid-century modern feel and could use some refreshing in the common areas. Feels a bit like a converted conference center hotel. Rooms were very generously sized. Food was excellent, with breakfast included. Prices were high for a la carte dining, but then prices were high for everything we purchased in Iceland, so that shouldn't detract from overall rating.

This hotel was extremely run-down (threadbare carpets and torn wallpaper) and in dire need of renovation. My room did not have a clock and the telephone had no button to directly contact the front desk (and no directory to tell me how to contact the front desk). Old fashioned, but still very expensive hotel in the style of the 60th. Spacious rooms with a good view on all floors, but windows should be cleaned more often. Breakfast room has been moved to a meeting room and is rather unemotional. Nowadays packed with tourists. To visit the nearby public swimming pool you get a free voucher at reception.

This is a rather expansive hotel just southeast of downtown Reykjavik. It is walkable to the main attractions in the city, but it would take you a bit of time. Taxis are available and usually are there; if you ask the desk clerk to call one for you, it tends to be more expensive. The people are nice but not effusive. Don't be put off by them and think that they are arrogant or "standoffish". Just be friendly with them! Breakfast is usually included and is a buffet with a lot of things includi... Read more

We stayed here at the start and end of a round-Iceland tour. And it was basically fine. Rooms pretty clean. Breakfast and dinner pretty decent. Public areas OK'ish. Location not bad, within walking distance of all city centre areas. It's just a bit impersonal and large. The 3rd floor is actually let out to an independent organisation, which feels a bit odd as you walk up or down the stairs. One thing I'd mark them down on. I wouldn't recommend this hotel for any reason. It's outside town in an industrial setting and 15-20 minutes to town, it's vast and lacking in any personality and it needs a major facelift.
