Loved this hotel! The art is amazing. Orri gave me a tour of the arg on the main floor. When I blew a fuse with my converter Orri fixed it immediately. Room was a suite, very spacious. Excellent location, walk everywhere. Ask for a free ticket to the local art gallery. They have some of the hotel's art in the gallery

We had read many reviews of this hotel prior to staying there. It was suggested that we stay in a suite. We did and we were very happy with the suggestions offered. Our room was bright and sunny and very comfortable. The bathroom was small but, worked well for us. The morning breakfast was lovely. There were two kinds of eggs, hard and soft boiled. There was fruit, fish, yogurt, meats and many other tasty items.

My wife and I stayed in at the end of May. i don't think the hotel has air conditioning and the rooms facing the street can get quite hot in the daytime. One thing that surprised me was that the curtains are thin and don't block out much light. This is a real annoyance when it stays light out until late in the evening. We asked for a different room and they gave us one immediately. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is three blocks from a street with a lot of restauran... Read more

smaller, boutique hotel with incredible ambience and attentive staff. Everybody was friendly and the front desk was incredibly helpful. Comfortable rooms which were immaculately cleaned. A great place to stay. Also - excellent breakfast and good, but pricey, bar

We were booked in here for a business trip so I cannot comment on value for money. However, the staff were very friendly and the hotel really felt different and not like the normal chain. I am told that it used to be the only place in Reykjavik with a Michelin star and certainly the restaurant was fantastic. Rooms were quite small but well appointed and there was adequate curtain coverage to cope with 24/7 daylight. It was well situated and had a comfortable bar and lounge. The breakfast buffet ... Nice room, incredibly helpful and friendly staff and a location that puts you two minutes from the city centre - what's not to love! Add in the quirky art on every floor and the sense of history from one of Reykjavik's oldest hotels from the wood panelled walls and various period pieces scattered throughout, and you're in for a treat. Breakfast was lovely too. If I come back to Iceland, I know where I'm staying!

This is a beautiful hotel very close to the main streets and shops in Reykavik. It is clean, staff are very helpful and the breakfasts are superb. The only reason it's not been given 5 stars is that the rooms are small and with luggage and camera gear it was a squeeze. This hotel has character and charm and a lovely french influence in its interior design. It has a cozy feel - great place to stay in the winter with its own small off road car park at one end of the hotel.

We were sent to this hotel by Iceland Air after they were very late from London and we missed our connection. They paid for the room, so I don't know about the cost. Our room was lovely, with a nice view. But the really great thing was the restaurant. The food, though quite expensive, was absolutely wonderful! And all of the staff were very pleasant and helpful.

This is an older hotel in the city center with a very efficient staff. They get the job done but not usually with a smile. The rooms are VERY small. The facilities are elegant but a bit dated. Breakfast was very good although all six days there, it was exactly the same. There is a small parking lot for residents which is very helpful as parking in this area is a problem. The cleaning staff was superb. They made our room look like new each and every day.

Very clean and comfortable, with amazing beds and blackout curtains (which were key during 23 hour days!) Loved this place: the front desk staff (especially Orri) really went above and beyond, helping us plan our days. Breakfast was excellent. The rooms are not fancy, but functional. I LOVED the location, too. Located on a very quiet street, but just a few blocks from the main attractions (we had also considere the CentreHotel and Apotek, which when we got there turned out to be in the middle o... We spent 6 nights at the holt. The hotel is perfectly located so you can easily walk to the town, harbor and the bus station. The rooms were comfortable and had a great electric hot pot. The front desk staff, especially Emma, were wonderful. Emma acted as our personal concierge. She helped us with restaurant, golf and transfer reservations. The staff was quick to accommodate any needs we had with a smile. The breakfast was good but had the same choice of food each day. We would have appreciated ... Read more

This hotel is a Gem of a find if you are looking for something traditional, comfortable and clean. Located very close to the centre but on a quiet residential street you really do feel a part of the small population. The room was clean with all the facilities you would expect and the bathroom fresh and modern. Breakfast was plentiful and the staff were attentive and helpful. I had contacted the hotel prior to arrival and they were extremely helpful and even when our Northern light excursion was ... Read more

We stayed here a week and had a great time. Knowing what we know we would have requested a room towards the back of the Hotel. Being summer and light out 24/7 there was pedestrian and shuttle noise but that's what earplugs are for! The staff were warm, friendly and very accommodating. The location was perfect, away from the busier part of town but close enough to get anywhere in town fairly quick. Thanks for a great time to all of the staff at this wonderful Hotel. We stayed for three nights at the Hotel Holt and found it quite charming, right down to the old-fashioned elevator. The staff was very pleasant and always ready to help. Two tips: (1) The hotel is on a street that isn't terribly busy (see the accompanying photo), but I would still recommend a rear-facing room. Due to the acoustics, any vehicle, any shout, etc tends to be loud. (2) They have a driving service that will take you to and from the airport in what I believe are Cadillac Escalades. T... Read more

We are all nature fun and like hiking. We had a very relaxing and full of fun 4 days in Iceland. The location of Hotel Holt is excellent you can reach everything on foot in Reykjavik downtown. Very nice restaurant but a little bit overpriced as always in Iceland. Recommend absolutely

Excellent hotel with a wonderful staff who were very helpful in getting us oriented around the city. 8 would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who asks. The beds were very comfortable and the breakfast selection was quite good. It's central location makes it an ideal starting point for all day long excursions

This is a great hotel. It's located on a quiet street, but it's an easy walk to the main shopping streets, where you can find restaurants, shopping and the tourist center. Our room was small, but clean and comfortable. There is a computer set up in the lobby for guests to use the internet and check their e-mails. Most of the tour groups pick up at the hotel. There is plenty to eat at breakfast: coffee/tea, danish, toast, eggs, ham, cheese, yogurt and more. The staff is extremely approachabl... Read more

One night stop in Reykjavik before an early flight so sadly did not really get to properly enjoy the hotel but it has great staff on Reception, lots of art and comfy rooms. Good central location so easy to walk to the marina and endless restaurants and bars.

A very quiet and peaceful place to stay. The rooms are nicely furnished and everything is very clean. The staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet had a good choice of food including some Icelandic specialities such as skyr (nice on the muesli) and pickled herring (didn't try it). The fruit salad was particularly lovely and fresh. The location is great for exploring the city on foot.

Nice hotel, perfectly located for sightseeing with just a short walk to the cathedral. Restaurant was closed on night of our stay so I can't comment on food but there are plenty of choices nearby. Really helpful reception staff who made taxi and dinner reservations. Rooms are well equipped.

This is a unique hotel, with incredible art throughout the hotel. The reception desk clerks were most helpful and professional. The room was clean and very quiet. Decent size room & bath. The breakfast buffet had the usual choices, well prepared. And the location is only a 5 min walk from the shopping area and 10 minutes from old town. Would stay here again & would highly recommend the hotel. Also had dinner twice in the hotel dining room. The meal was outstanding, the lamb was perfectly pre... Read more

Hotel was in a central location within easy walking distance to all main sites, shops, restaurants. Pick up and drop off for all tours from hotel easy even though streets narrow and lots of snow. Excellent breakfasts and service from staff. Room large with nice separate seating area. Had 7 course tasting menu in hotel restaurant on last night was AMAZING! Would definitely recommend. Remember to wrap up as very cold and wear sensible walking shoes. A visit to blue lagoon a must too.

The customer service was fantastic--food recommendations, helping book rental cars, The hotel could do with a bit of an update and not exactly what I was expecting, but the staff were unbeatable. I'd definitely stay again. Very convenient for walking around the city and close to a local grocery store and sights.

Hotel Holt is in a good central location of Reykjavik, without being too busy. It stays quieter at night because it's in a residential area, but it's within walking distance of every spot frequently visited in Reykjavik. The staff were very helpful in calling restaurants and making reservations for us early so that we didn't miss out on the most popular spots during a busy tourist weekend in the city. The rooms were just okay. Our room stayed ungodly hot even with all windows open, and the bathr... Read more

The Hotel Holt is a really special hotel because of their art collection. Art is everywhere, on the walls as paintings and in the hallways as sculptures. The hotel has an old-world feel with rich furnishings and wall coverings and gold metallic fixtures. We picked this hotel for a 2 night stay, 3 rooms because we knew our parents would enjoy the older feel after stay at more modern hotels for the rest of the trip.
