Friendly staff very willing to help. Good size room and modern decor. Free car parking and wifi. Breakfast was delicious with option of organic food. The mini bar in the room wasn't working and we found hair from previous guest in the shower, but overall I would recommend this hotel for anyone staying in Reykjavik.

I've nothing bad to say about our stay at the grand, our room was comfortable, clean and warm, the staff were friendly and really helpful in helping us with advise on where to visit and when. The breakfast buffet probably expanded my waist by about 4 inches, lots of choice and something for everyone and bar area was a nice environment to just chill out with a drink. Location wise, the hotel is a 20 min walk into the city centre and 10 min walk to the seafront. If you are looking to hire a car an... Read more

A good hotel just on the outskirts of town. Decent sized rooms. Shower reasonable not not very powerful. Shower gel and soap is via a dispenser so not great if you've not bought your own. The walk to the centre is about 20 mins and is easy to get to. The walk west along the coast - 1.5 miles to the small harbour is pleasant. Decent breakfast and nice lobby area. Hotel will organise a transfer to the airport bus.

Lovely lobby, we had 2 jr suites on the 13 th floor- P on elevator. Large simple room and huge bath. Not much clutter , huge closets. Flowers and wine in room on arrival. Robe & slippers. Good wifi, amazing views from almost the top of the place. Very decent breakfast buffet. BUT....we asked the clerk on the front desk to make a booking at a highly rated restaurant, she said she did. We arrived at the restaurant- no booking. Shame on her. She wasn't busy, no one else around when we asked the fa... Read more

I had a room on the fourth floor at the internal part of the building and expect for Friday night where a group of young people had a party in the back yard, it was a quiet room. The bathroom did not live up to a four star hotel, because I had to douche standing in the bath tub without chance to avoid water to pour down on the floor. The pillows were too soft for me and not even two of them made it comfortable for me. I had my window slightly open (no other possibilities) during my three days st... Read more

Staff seemed indifferent when we arrived and it took us 2 hours to get checked in, so not an impressive start. We stayed two nights. Room is basic and just about passed as clean, but bedding was nice and the bed comfortable. Free wifi. We ate in the bar one night, which was bland and not worth repeating. Breakfast was not included and seemed too pricey (based on evening meal experience) to be worth having, so we passed. We walked into the city centre in 20 minutes and also up to The Pearl, w... After studying Iceland in school I had always wanted to visit. I usually travel on a budget however I saw this hotel and knew it had to be done. I wanted to treat myself. We had a room on the second floor and from our window we could see the reception area which was really nice because the bar area with the fire on the pebbles and the waterfall on the stairs was so pretty. For the price of 300 Euros per night per person in May, I expected a little bit more. it is far from amenities especially on a rainy windy days. Room was small and looked very basic. There is no guest toiletries except shower gel and shampoo two in one. Bathrobe and slippers on request only. And if you wish to use spa facilities you need to pay extra around £20. The Grand Hotel was used recently to accommodate passengers from a jumbo jet suddenly diverted to Iceland. Although we had to wait until 4 pm to check in, we left our luggage and spent a few hours walking through the town. We stayed here on our 6 day trip to Iceland. The 6th floor wheelchair accessible room was perfect; large, fully accessible and with views across the harbour and mountains from the big corner windows. Breakfast was a bit of a trek as it involved going down to the lobby in the elevator, across the lobby, up a few stairs, down a few more stairs and into the large breakfast room. The Grand Hotel in Reykjavik is a modern hotel with rooms that are quite large by European standards. The beds are comfortable and there are plenty of pillows. There is no ac so request a room on the outside so that you can open a window of it gets too warm. The interior rooms can be too warm with no relief. This is a lovely hotel, modern and grand as the name suggests. It was the only 4-star hotel on our entire 2-week journey on the ring road, at least judging by American standard ratings. We arrived late with only time to have a couple of craft beers in the beautiful bar. We had to leave way too early to catch a flight and missed breakfast, but I'm sure they do a great spread. Highly recommend this one. Liked it better than icelanair hotel.

Our room was comfortable and clean and well appointed. The restaurant was spacious and breakfast was sumptuous. The hotel was situated in a quiet suburb not far from the city centre, which could be reached by the free shuttles (three times a day) provided by the hotel. The shuttles ran punctually and drivers were most helpful and courteous. The same applied to the hotel staff who were ever so responsive to our requests for help.

The hotel was not as good as we had hoped for the. The staff was rather cold and robotic even. Most of the 3-4 receptionists were glued to their screens and seemed a bit bothered whenever I approached to ask them something (except for one exception). There were empty glasses left on the floor right outside our door for some reason. We were also put in a room with a door to another room, which left us without a sense of privacy. Not a bad hotel at all. Everything was clean and well designed. However when we arrived, the place was packed with guests.
