This is a small boutique hotel in the middle of Reykjavik City . There is a lift for bags upon entering the hotel. A big heavy glass and wooden door and stairs welcome the visitors . Our room had a view of the rear part of the hotel . It is very near 2 grocery stores and many shopping retailers . Parking is very scarce. One must be on time to wait for the taxi or tour bus , outside since there is no space for parking . The room is clean and comfortable .

We stayed here for 3 nights in May and found the staff and hotel to be excellent. It's a small hotel that can be almost missed from the street, but once inside you are transported to a clean and modern decor. The rooms are small but had everything that we needed. Theres all the usual bits you'd expect including an iron and mini bar. The bathroom has a large shower but no bath. We ate in the restaurant a couple of times (see separate review) and needles to say that is excellent too. Breakfast i... Read more

The hotel is great - clean, beautiful and nice staff. We booked massages in the spa including usage of the spa. the massage was delightful, but there was a large group of women that was so noisy and messy that they ruined a great part of the experience. They threw my clothes on the floor, yelled all the time so you could not relax and asked me to leave the tub so that they could be alone. The staffmember in the spa did not stop them in any way.. We had a nice sized, more than comodious room with a very "Scandavian" feel. Good storage, nice appointments and a clean with a comfortable bed. Breakfast was included and buffet style, it was imaginative, and certainly would satisfy most of us. And they have a very pleasant staff. So what was not to like. Well two things. We thought the bathrooms verged on dangerous. The water termperature and volume are controlled by a toggle switch. If you are good at video games you'll probably be fi... Read more

Ever go into a hotel stay certain that you're going to love the place, and find that you just... don't feel it? That was me with the Thingholt. They certainly try hard. The staff was lovely, and I appreciated the nice touch of a welcome drink. It is indeed very central - could not be more so. The room was a great size, and it was fantastic to have a tub after two weeks of showers only. But the decor that looked so cool in pictures was not functional or comfortable in reality. Having been transferred here due to a problem with our booking at their sister hotel we were not in the best of moods on our arrival. The reception, however, soon put us at ease and we were soon in our room where our baggage from the first hotel was already awaiting us. Clean rooms with small but clever layouts. The location is also good since it is just around the corner from the shopping area. Make sure to drop by the restaurant since you get 20% off the bill for being a guest, not to mention the food was some of the best we had on the trip thus far. The welcome mimosas were a real delight for jet lagged arrivals!

My wife and I stayed 3 nights at the CenterHotel Thingholt at the beginning of July. The hotel has a nice clean and modern feel. The lobby is very cool and lots of seating to hang out. We stayed in a loft suite, which I would recommend if you can afford the little extra. As other reviews have noted, Reykjavik is a 24 hour city (especially when it doesn't get dark) so you will hear outside noise to some extent all night. Did not have a good experience at this hotel. First, we were actually booked at a different hotel from the same chain but had to be moved here due to overbooking. Given that this hotel is a 4-star rather than a 3-star and that the rooms are significantly more expensive we thought this would be OK. Plus the staff was really helpful, got us a free cab ride and use of the spa. The hotel is nicely designed and the rooms are nice. It is a bit hard to find and you need to be dropped off by a Taxi or shuttle service the first time around. Unique hotel, fine room, very tidy, and four-star breakfast. Eight minutes walking from the old harbor or church. Excellent location. Only negative is that its noisy if you leave the window open and have a room on the main street. Bathroom is five-star and bed was exceptionally comfortable. No parking might be a negative. But overall I would recommend the hotel.

Ice was delivered within 5 minutes with a smile & jovial personality. Our trip so far has begun brilliantly thanks to Andrea & the other team members. Thanks so much!

This hotel is located just off the main road so please be aware that there is lots of noise from a nearby club beyond 4am at the weekend. We had to change rooms because of plumbing noises within the room (on top of the volume from the club!) and discovered that not all of the rooms are exposed to the music from the club as the noise was very low in the room we moved into. If you are a light sleeper, you might want to ask at reception if you can be placed in a room that is further away from the c... Read more

We (family of four - two adults and two "kids" - 19 and 14) stayed at the Centerhotel Thingolt for a couple of nights in August. The hotel is not the most attractive externally, but is very stylish on the inside and is in a great central location. We had two rooms and both were nicely decorated, modern and comfortable. We were put together on the same floor close by, but not next door to each other, but that wasn't an issue. Being in the centre you will find that the local area is buzzing at n... Read more

This was our last night in Iceland and the hotel was a welcome sight. It's very centrally located - you walk out the door right into the heart of things. The staff were very friendly and accommodating - definitely the nicest staff we encountered in Iceland. If you're bringing a car with you then this may not be the best spot for you as parking is limited. We arrived on a Sunday when parking was free and left Monday morning. We were fortunate enough to find street parking nearby but that was... Read more

My sister and I stayed here for our 2 nights in Iceland. I was hesitant at first due to the price but really everything in Iceland is expensive. While we were here we upgrade our room to deluxe and payed for an extended late check out. Both of these purchases were totally worth it. The hotel is glamourous and cool, awesome music playing at all times in the spacious comfortable lobby. Buffet breakfast was really really good and i recommend you eat as much as you can considering how expensive ever... Read more

Enjoyable stay in a happening spot. This hotel is located steps away from the main tourist area in old Reyjavik, a short walk to the harbour . Most museums/attractions are within walking distance. The staff were courteous and helpful. There is a lot of bar action nearby which can be a bit noisy at night depending on which direction your windows face but I enjoyed listening to the sound of happy voices as I went to sleep

This was a great location which is why we picked it. It was in walking distance of most things within the city. We walked to shops, resturants, museums, Hallgrimskirkja and the Harpa. The breakfast every morning was delicious. The staff was friendly. The only downside is it is close to resturants and bars. In the late night early morning there was alot of noise from people walking by or music playing.

The hotel itself is very nice and welcoming but we stayed in a room facing the road on a saturday night and that was a very noisy affair. Throughout the night there were singing, music, shouting and a lot of drinking so it was very hard to sleep until 4 pm.

The hotel is perfectly located in the heart of things with easy access to shopping and restaurants. The staff was great and helpful with recommendations for dinner and tours and offered to book things for us. Breakfast was well run and stocked. With close proximity to downtown bars and it being a bit of a party town, there is late night noise from the street on weekends but nothing incredibly disruptive after a busy day of touring around. Opted for an upgraded room and the size and cleanline... Read more

The hotel is very well located boutique hotel with around 50 rooms - walking distance to Laugavegur - the main shopping street - and other places of interest like the Parliament. Though the view from the hotel is not great, one could walk for 5 minutes to the promenade and have a breathtaking view of the Atlantic Ocean. Rooms are well appointed - the black/white cowhide carpet is something you do not see elsewhere. Breakfast is very sumptuous - western style. Service is excellent both at the fr... Read more

This was our second stay at the hotel and everything was as good as we remembered it to be. Located close to the centre of Reykjavik, it provided easy access to the sights and shopping. The executive room we had was modern in style and bright and airy, providing an ideal sitting area to relax after the many trips we undertook to experience this amazing country. For breakfast there was ample to choose from in terms of variety and to set you up for the day. However, of particular note was the ... Read more

My husband and I stayed here for one night. We were greeted very warmly at reception and I loved the modern look of the lobby. Then the disappointment set in. Our room was tiny- too tiny for the price. Our bathroom toilet paper was dirty and a light didn't work. I was ok to overlook that. It was when the shower broke in my hand that I had enough. My husband went to the lobby where again the staff was wonderful. Very apologetic. The manager then said to give us a nicer room. I was hopeful..,, T... Read more
