Fantastic staff they went the extra mile to help out. I can't say enough of how wonderful they were. The hotel itself is right in the heart of the city walking distance to everything. The room was very comfprtable and nicely furnished

This is a small boutique hotel in the middle of Reykjavik City . There is a lift for bags upon entering the hotel. A big heavy glass and wooden door and stairs welcome the visitors . Our room had a view of the rear part of the hotel . It is very near 2 grocery stores and many shopping retailers . Parking is very scarce. One must be on time to wait for the taxi or tour bus , outside since there is no space for parking . The room is clean and comfortable .

We stayed here for 3 nights in May and found the staff and hotel to be excellent. It's a small hotel that can be almost missed from the street, but once inside you are transported to a clean and modern decor. The rooms are small but had everything that we needed. Theres all the usual bits you'd expect including an iron and mini bar. The bathroom has a large shower but no bath. We ate in the restaurant a couple of times (see separate review) and needles to say that is excellent too. Breakfast i... Read more

The hotel is great - clean, beautiful and nice staff. We booked massages in the spa including usage of the spa. the massage was delightful, but there was a large group of women that was so noisy and messy that they ruined a great part of the experience. They threw my clothes on the floor, yelled all the time so you could not relax and asked me to leave the tub so that they could be alone. The staffmember in the spa did not stop them in any way.. I regret usind the money on the spa in the hotel a... Read more

We had a nice sized, more than comodious room with a very "Scandavian" feel. Good storage, nice appointments and a clean with a comfortable bed. Breakfast was included and buffet style, it was imaginative, and certainly would satisfy most of us. And they have a very pleasant staff. So what was not to like. Well two things. We thought the bathrooms verged on dangerous. The water termperature and volume are controlled by a toggle switch. If you are good at video games you'll probably be fi... Read more

I booked this hotel at the last minute given the positive reviews and wanting to be near cafes and restaurants. I must say that the location of the hotel is very good. It is centrally located and surrounded by lots of restaurants, cafes, and several attractions. The staff is friendly and the common areas are nicely appointed, modern and fun as you woudl expect in a boutique hotel. I had a junior suite which is essentially a larger room with two double beds. my husband and i stayed here for our first night in iceland. we were allowed to get early check in after arriving at the airport in the morning for no extra fee. we booked a standard double room. it was small, but had high ceilings. the bed was comfortable, the curtains were dark enough to block most of the light. it is outside the main shopping area, but we had no trouble with noise, but we were also there on a weeknight as opposed to weekend. the breakfast in the morning was excellent. ... Ever go into a hotel stay certain that you're going to love the place, and find that you just... don't feel it? That was me with the Thingholt. They certainly try hard. The staff was lovely, and I appreciated the nice touch of a welcome drink. It is indeed very central - could not be more so. The room was a great size, and it was fantastic to have a tub after two weeks of showers only. But the decor that looked so cool in pictures was not functional or comfortable in reality. I loved this hotel. I stayed here for 3 nights and it was extremely comfortable. The transfer from the airport to the hotel was in a private minibus and the reception staff were friendly upon arrival. The room itself was modern, clean and I loved the design. The bathroom was of a very high standard, with a beautiful shower which was ideal after a long, chilly day in Iceland. The room was always warm after coming in from the freezing cold and the floor seemed to be heated. For an extra price you ... Read more

Have recently returned from a long weekend at this hotel, Thursday to Sunday. My Husband booked this hotel for our family and we occupied a junior suite at the front of the property very close to the main street. He chose the hotel because of it's location i.e. within downtown Reykjavik next to lots of restaurants, shops and tourist attractions. Thursday was great but on Friday and Saturday our sleep was disturbed until 4am because of a bar located on the main street called B5. It plays very ver... Read more

Room was decently sized. Not much lighting. But with huge windows made up for it (we were on the 4th floor). With the midnight sun blazing it, we had lots of natural light. Location was very good, near shopping, restaurants and pubs. However, Reykjavik has a wild nightlife. Get a room on the upper floors because on the weekends, the music is load from the pubs. Service from the front desk was outstanding -- helping with dinners, taxis and buses. Roberto who runs the bar and late room service wa... Read more

Having been transferred here due to a problem with our booking at their sister hotel we were not in the best of moods on our arrival. The reception, however, soon put us at ease and we were soon in our room where our baggage from the first hotel was already awaiting us. The hotel is in the city centre and handy for just about everything Reykjavik has to offer (lots). The rooms are a good size (for city centre) but the oversize leather furniture and table make it appear small and difficult to mo... Read more

Thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Iceland and this was out home base. Close to great restaurants! Rent a car and take some nice day trips. Enjoy! Load up and the great free breakfast. Food is expensive over there. And grab some snacks and drinks from the grocery store. Then full enjoyment at the great restaurants and breweries!

Clean rooms with small but clever layouts. The location is also good since it is just around the corner from the shopping area. Make sure to drop by the restaurant since you get 20% off the bill for being a guest, not to mention the food was some of the best we had on the trip thus far. The welcome mimosas were a real delight for jet lagged arrivals!

My wife and I stayed 3 nights at the CenterHotel Thingholt at the beginning of July. The hotel has a nice clean and modern feel. The lobby is very cool and lots of seating to hang out. We stayed in a loft suite, which I would recommend if you can afford the little extra. As other reviews have noted, Reykjavik is a 24 hour city (especially when it doesn't get dark) so you will hear outside noise to some extent all night. There's really no getting around it no matter where you are down town. ... Read more

Did not have a good experience at this hotel. First, we were actually booked at a different hotel from the same chain but had to be moved here due to overbooking. Given that this hotel is a 4-star rather than a 3-star and that the rooms are significantly more expensive we thought this would be OK. Plus the staff was really helpful, got us a free cab ride and use of the spa. The hotel is nicely designed and the rooms are nice. Recently stayed here for four nights the beginning of July. We had requested early check in and even though our flight was over 2 hours delayed, we arrive around 11 am and our room was ready. We booked a junior suite because we wanted some extra space and a soaking tub (I traveled with my mother). The room was an okay size though wished for a bit more space given the exorbitant rate. Iceland is expensive though, so can't fault the hotel. I had read reviews about the noise level but refrained fro... Read more

Very pleased with our stay at this hotel. While the room was a bit on the small side, it was normal by European standards and the space was very efficiently used. Wonderful breakfast selection. It is a bit hard to find and you need to be dropped off by a Taxi or shuttle service the first time around. Unique hotel, fine room, very tidy, and four-star breakfast. Eight minutes walking from the old harbor or church. Excellent location. Only negative is that its noisy if you leave the window open and have a room on the main street. Bathroom is five-star and bed was exceptionally comfortable. No parking might be a negative. But overall I would recommend the hotel.

My wife and I stayed at the hotel for our 25 th wedding anniversary for 2 nights. Great location for walking the Main Street. I don't not suggest you stay Over a Friday or Saturday night as it is very loud from the outside bars with people and music going on till 4 am. I slept with ear plugs. My wife and I just returned from a four night stay. Just an OK place with pretty nice rooms. The rooms are boiling hot since they have only one window. They could use black out shades to help with the heat. It is incredibly noisy there since the hotel is one block of the main street. The kids are out making a racket until 5AM. What is worst is that there is a disco across and the music thumps until 4AM. The staff is wonderful and they explained that the have called the police a million times but... Read more

The hotel is located a block from the main shopping/bar street, which is a great location. However, starting at 2200 hours, the music from a local bar will keep you awake! Even with the window closed (so hot in the hotel room) AND ear plugs, it was too loud to sleep! We were staying on the first floor on the street side and plan on moving to an inner room tonight. Really super location. You can walk to most everything. Staff: excellent Rooms: modern and comfortable. No a/c; however, the fan they supply does the trick. Helps to squelch the noise at night. We had an "inside" room, and, we could still hear the screaming and carrying on. It's really important that you don't get a room adjacent to that bar where they carry on long into the night. I would call this a small boutique hotel. CenterHotel has several hotels in Reykjavik, but this was the one on Thingholt street.
