We had luxury room with a good view of chain bridge and the river. The bathroom was a bit smaller than luxurious but the rest of it was top class Check in and out quick and easy. Breakfast is a buffet feast . The hotel has a splendid location that is easy walking to most of the city highlights. The 48 hour travel pass gives cheap access to Budapest

We were there beginning of May for a precruise stay. Sofitel staff was most polite n friendly given the rush of so many cruise passengers. The breakfast menu surely catered for every taste. We had moved from the Fraser Residence in another part of town as we has a good experience in their hotel in Edinburgh Scotland. There is no comparison. We were extremely please with Sofitel. Many thanks to the staff.

Location was great, within walking distance of most of the major tourist sites. Local transport buses and trams were close to the hotel and easy to access and cheap. Reception was helpful and quick however no one available to help us with two large suitcases and other travel bags. The room was average with dated fixtures and fittings, air conditioning controls were interesting. Bathroom was clean however towels were poor quality. This hotel was very nice. A location in Pest that can't be beat. The room was a a nice size with a killing view. All the amenities you would expect from a 5 star hotel. We just returned from a RiverCruise where the crew was so nice and friendly as well as efficient. The atmosphere at the Sofitel was efficient but not as warm and welcoming. We did not use the hotel restaurants so I can't comment on them other then to say they were beautiful. This is a very good hotel without much of a sole.

Perfect location next to Chain Bridge, easy walking distance to all areas, polite, helpful staff. Clean hotel. We upgraded to use the Executive Room on the 8th floor, well worth the money as our room was also on the same floor, overlooking the river, wonderful views. The executive room is open from 7am to 9pm and you can go there whenever you want for something to eat and drink.

Sofitel is really in the best location, on Danube edge, just in fron of Chaines Bridge. Very lively √°rea close to lots of restaurants, bars and shops. Rooms are confortable and you should try to get one with view over the river, really nice. Staff is attentive and friendly despite the large number of customers they have to serve.

We like the Sofitel brand and use them frequently. The quality is reliable and rooms are always comfortable and clean. We did not however, particularly like this hotel. Used mostly by business and boat people. The reception reminded us of a train station with many people having arrived off the boats or about to embark on them. The location is excellent close to the river bank and easy walking to the tourist areas. However the building itself is rather soulless and lacks the reception areas to pr... Read more

Here for a weekend, meeting friends who were staying elsewhere. As such, I didn't have a chance to experience all that the hotel has to offer, other than a few drinks in the bar one afternoon. The service is up to the usual Sofitel standards with a nice and spacious room. The hotel itself is huge for a quick chat to make sure everything was ok with the stay, a really nice touch. The location is perfect for accessing all of Budapest with lots of things to do and see in the near vicinity.

Located next to the Chain Bridge, this is a picturesque area of Budapest. The rooms were a decent size, clean, the bathrooms modern and the bed was comfortable. You can walk many places and feel safe. There is a lot of activity in the outside bar at night which can get a little loud.

We selected the hotel due to its reviews and location on the river. The hotel was of excellent quality, the staff were really friendly and the facilities were brilliant. I would definitly been coming back to stay here in future, everyone was really helpful. There was a good variety for breakfast and we upgraded to club lounge, the lounge offered all beverages and snacks for free with an amazing view over the bridge. We had a suite the room was clean, spacious and appealing.

We booked here for a 1 night stay after the end of our Danube cruise. The hotel (per it's name) is right adjacent to the Chain Bridge, next door to the Intercontinental Hotel. The location is convenient to the main shopping area and of course many of the sights. We were upgraded to a beautiful suite and enjoyed our short stay. We opted for a Junior Suite which was spacious and comes with the extensive service ( highly recommended) Service was great and the breakfast is a good spread. Would highly recommend for anyone visiting Budapest. The rooms could do with a bit of an update to décor but overall a great stay and above all location paramount.

Great hotel located on the Pest side of the river, 2 mins from the famous chain bridge. Very close to town and restaurants. Hotel was fantastic and the bar/restaurant downstairs was really nice, great food and cocktails. Would definitely stay there again.

We spent two days of our trip in this hotel. We had a absolutely fantastic stay with great service. We will definently come back at a later time. The spa was really great, and we thought the staff was verk helpful. We also liked the room, and the food.

I was given an upgrade to a top floor duplex room which was not acceptable. They moved me to another room on a lower floor which had not been properly made up. A sofa/bed had been left partially made in the seating area and the bathroom/toilet had not been cleaned. Having said that the staff were brilliant being both friendly and helpful.

I have stayed here over many years, and the standards remain high. A former Hyatt hotel, it features an atrium inside, so the views down from the floors around are a great feature, with a huge artistic plane hanging from the roof! It has a great restaurant featuring International, french and local cuisine, a Bibliotek area, small cafe and place with a counter for drinks and pastries, bar, and built within a Casino. (Separate from the hotel) Worth always to book a danube room view, as this in it... Read more

The stay at Sofitel Budapest Chain Bridge Hotel was the best hotel we ever stayed at. Concierge staff was professional, accurate and knowledgable. Every gentleman or lady that helped us knew their stuff and went out of their way to help us. Breakfast was excellent and gentleman at the Omelette Station was excellent, and he had a great sense of humor. Staff at breakfast was helpful and alway looking for ways to serve. We did not see this in other parts of Hungary. Room was excellent a... Read more

A very nice hotel which is located just by the chain bridge overlooking the river and in easy walking distance of all the key attractions. If you can, I would suggest upgrading to a room facing the river as the views over to the Palace and Buda are simply stunning. The decor in theroom could perhaps be a little more modern is my only criticism of the hotel. The extremely extensive breakfast was delicious and well worth the extra. I would definitely stay here again.

Er were very pleased with the hotel. We wanted a hotel near by everything. So we wouldn't have to take taxi to everything. And it was great for us because we traveled with an infant. Near to all restaurants and sightseeing. The service was wow, really high quality everywhere at the hotel. I can recommend to book the river dinner with the boat "legenda" which the hotel helped us with before arriving to Budspest. And don't miss the hotels Sunday brunch, best food ever. We will come back and visit... Read more

Nice and relaxing with great view on the chain bridge. Very attent waiters and the food is just great. Local dishes here in the Paris restaurant combined with international food. August is a great month to visit: nice warm and a slight breeze.

The location of the hotel is the best highlight. From outside it is not the nicest building, but I actually liked the way it was reconstructed and decorated inside - the atrium felt very spacious and gave the hotel a nice flair. The rooms were nice with contemporary design, clean and the size was ok, though a little dark. The river view is amazing. The breakfast was good, not exceptional however. The staff was professional and very helpful. I would stay here again.

This hotel was a little older and the outside decor isn't very attractive, but it was extremely clean and in a great location. The buffet breakfast was very nice and impressive. It is a hotel we would stay at again in the future.

The outside of the building is not very impressive. The four seasons across the road has a much nicer facade. The lobby is also not that nice. There are a lot of staff but they sometimes stand around talking rather than helping people but when they do help they are good. The rooms are very spacious for Europe with good storage areas, the bed is super comfy. The negative thing and it's a rather big one is that there are not many power points around. There is one near the desk and one in the bath... Read more

You could not ask for a better location! It is a two minute walk to the Chain Bridge. The bed was comfortable and the hotel itself is beautiful. Kata was very helpful and made sure everything was fine for us. I can't say enough about how beautiful it is. We were not fortunate enough to get a river view but nevertheless I still give it 5 stars. This hotel should be in my opinion in the top 10 in Budapest.

If you want a comfortable hotel, in a good location in Budapest, this could be it. Situated right by the Chain Bridge on the Pest side of the Danube, the location is just about perfect and the hotel delivers the usual standards you would expect from Sofitel. Comfortable, spacious and very well run, with courteous and helpful staff. Our room was very good and perhaps the only criticism was that the air conditioning was a bit noisy, but turning it off to sleep meant the room got a bit too warm. Un... Read more

Let's start with the true asset of this hotel: the staff. Everyone was helpful, polite and went out if their way to assist us. Great location, can walk to many local attractions and shopping areas are nearby. We were worried that the hotel might be noisy, but this was not the case. The rooms are comfortable and super clean. The spa area is soothing and a wonderful place to relax after a busy sightseeing day. The breakfast buffet is one of the best we had during our month long stay in Europ... Read more

Excellent for exploring all the key sites of Budapest on foot. We had a junior suite and therefore access to the lounge which had complimentary food, wine, soft drinks from 5pm to 8pm including champagne which was a bonus! We used the spa and pool which were both excellent. Well maintained, professionally run establishment with high levels of customer service. Only teeny complaint was the wifi was a bit sporadic.

First for the obvious-location of this hotel is perfect. Try and get the room with the river view. Maybe little more expensive, but worth it. Next-hotel is very clean and lovely. There is even the Hungary's first airplane hanging from the ceiling (as it was told to me, I chose to be fascinated by this rather than check for accuracy). Next-staff is very nice and extremely accommodating. My flight was not until 11:00 pm the day I was checking out and they extended my check out until 5:00 pm for a ... Read more

This hotel is simply the best place to be in Budapest. It is right on the Danube and the view of the Chain Bridge is well worth the extra cost for the room with a view. Everything from check in to breakfast was handled in a professional manner. The folks that were in the Club room on the 8th floor went way beyond to make sure our stay was excellent. I would highly recommend this Hotel in Budapest as it is convenient (walking distance) to all of the main things you want to see in Budapest.

Be sure to get or ask for a room with a great view of the Chain Bridge. Loved this hotel, we did stay 2 nights here and had the breakfast. Everything was delicious. The check in went smoothly, beds were very comfortable, loved the robe and slippers provided. The hotel also had a good hair dryer so no need to pack one. Would highly recommend this hotel.

You are on the Danube near the docks. Great views of the the bridge and the museum. Hop on off bus stop near the hotel. The hotel will get you tickets. Concierge very helpful in making reservations for dinner. Many places to eat and drink around and in the hotel. You can have breakfast in the Paris restaurant without paying a lot of Euros for the buffet breakfast. Sight seeing is wonderful and you must see the lights at night unless you are on a river cruise and they leave at night.

We had a great view, our friends on a different hallway did as well. If you don't have a view, ask for one. Included breakfast buffet was quite good enough. Outdoor restaurant for dinner wasn't as good as other nearby restaurants, but plenty nearby. Coffee pot in room, included internet -- both required for a top review from me. Location convenient to sites and public transportation/tram stop. We arrived early and couldn't check in until scheduled time, which is to be expected. No complaints... Read more

Overall we had a nice stay at the Sofitel Chain Bridge Hotel. Try to request a Chain Bridge or river view. It is absolutely spectacular. The great view certainly helps to overlook the rooms which are in need of an update. The hotel location is great - right near the pedestrian area and lots of great restaurants. The buffet breakfast can be overcrowded. Ask if you can have breakfast in the restaurant on the main. It's much quieter and calmer.

This hotel is ultra modern, located at the foot of the Chain Bridge. We were very pleased with every aspect of the accommodation, especially with the breakfast that was included with our package. The selection was amazing, including omelettes and cappuccinos, at no extra charge. If you are expecting a traditional, old world hotel, you might be disappointed. Bravo Sofitel! From the moment we stepped in we could not stop praising this fabulous hotel. First tip, book the executive floor (on the 8th floor), the view of the chain bridge and buda castle is beyond priceless. Like others have noted, it NEVER gets old and we were there for 10 days.
