I've stayed in many Mercures in various countries and generally rate them highly but have to say our experience in this one wasn't that good. The room (over the 'bridge') was small, clean but worn, carpet stains etc. and with what seemed like a very small double bed with cheap furnishings. More like a student room than a hotel room. Probably wouldn't try this one again.

The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly, and always available. I had a long stay there on my second stay (11 days) and there were some misunderstandings with the payment, but we sorted all out eventually. The breakfast was GRAND! and the service of the My Privileged Breakfast Lounge was attentive and nice (although there was trouble in explaining what type of cafe we would like to have :) ). On my first stay I has a resent that the window could not be opened, but after asking... Read more

Plus: Perfect location, very friendly staff, great breakfast. Thanks to the lady at the bar for the children-friendly colourful cocktails! Minus: pool opens at unpractical hours and water is cold; could not open window of the room (no air to breathe), noise in breakfast room (constant beeping of the coffee machine) is too much. Room for improvement to make this hotel really nice.

This hotel is on two sides of a road connected by a bridge at level three. We got a room on the other side . It meant we have to walk a bit, change two lifts, in order to go to restaurant or to outside. The room was clean and the bath room spacious. The sound proofing was excellent The special square pillows were a bit uncomfortable! Breakfast was good. The complimentary chocolates were yummy.

We & our friends were on a cruise for 2 weeks and then we were spending 2 weeks touring Europe so we each had a small carry-on suitcase and a larger suitcase (only 44 lbs. because of our airline weight restriction). We got into our rooms and they were VERY small. We didn't even have space for all our suitcases. The bathrooms were small, too. Our bathroom had one of those plastic doors on the bathtub/shower to prevent water from flooding the floor when in the shower but that didn't help much.... Read more

This centrally located hotel close to the Danube on the Pest side is tidy, efficient, and comfortable. The staff was gracious, helpful, and spoke English to help. Food in the hotel was excellent. The hotel is close to everything: the river, markets, and cafe lined streets. A great stay for a couple or large group.

I was looking forward to my stay in Budapest for the first time and my meeting in the hotel. It turned out to be far from good. First, the location is good with the Chain Bridge and many other sights in walkable distance. The staff were generally helpful. Check-in was easy and the staff in the breakfast room were friendly. They gave me an odd-shaped room at the end of the hall with twin beds, and an extra bed sitting in the middle of the room. This seemed odd since I was only one person. ... Read more

The reception was good. Quick and efficient. Staff were friendly. The room was quite small for a four star hotel as was the bathroom. The double bed was nice and big. It was well equiped. The bathroom was nice and modern but too small! There was a wide variety for breakfast and the staff were helpful.

The hotel is next to tram and Metro stations and is easy walking to the markets, main shopping streets and the sights of Pest. The staff are fantastic, from the porters through to the folk in the bars and restaurants. No end of food and drinks possibilities within a 5 minute walk.

The location suited us down to the ground. It is very central and walking distance to the Danube river. The hotel staff was friendly, the rooms fine, the bar food and the bridge breakfast were fine and fresh. The local wine was great, and great value. Good experience all around for the one night stay. Unfortunately, being on a business trip - I didn't get to see the city.

Perfect central position exactly above the Kalvin Tèr metro stop! Personnel is great, very helpful and kind, breakfast is complete and of good quality, my room was quiet (view was on a sad inner courtyard) and comfortable even if not big and with two separate beds. Internet is an issue: in the room it is very slow and difficult to log in, I would discourage a business traveller to book this hotel if a fast internet connection is needed. Elevators are also a problem, very slow, in rush hours it... Read more

Good for a short stay in Budapest. Rooms are small and basically furnished but clean & reasonably comfortable. Breakfast is average for this type of hotel. I liked the coffee but this is a subjective taste. Public areas are attractive and staff are friendly & helpful. Towels need to be improved I got one which was worn through. The big negative are the lifts. Only 2, of the 3, were working during my stay and there were very long queues at times. The stairs only runs to the 2nd floor after which ... Read more

My taxi driver recommended this hotel when I asked for a good 4* so he brought us to the Korona Hotel. Bedroom and bathroom a little compact but very comfortable bed so a good nights sleep. The location of this hotel could not have been better, with excellent public transport links from the airport and around the city. Our privilege room was small clean and comfortable. Designed for business rather than tourism, but we wanted to see the city not the room. Large, very comfortable bed. Yes you get city noise but compared to London it was quiet. The staff were all friendly and helpful and I cannot find fault with anything.

Mercure Budapest Korona is located in an excellent place in Pest, close to everything. The stuff is very nice and cooperative, the breakfast is good, the rooms are nice and clean. But - the rooms are a bit small. They fit mainly to a single person, and a pair of adults (or even worse, 2 people that need separate beds........) will find it too tight. Great location walking distance to metro, bike rental right outside the doors of the hotel, eateries, shopping, convenient stores. Left my luggage over the weekend while I visit Vienna FREE of charge. Came back and stayed one more night before heading home. Will definitely stay here again when I revisit Budapest. Would have given it a perfect score it the room was a bit bigger.

This hotel is in a brilliant location, right on the metro line and there's a station right outside the door. It's walking distance to many attractions and lovely restaurants but the room itself is quite average. A lot of sockets which don't work in the room and the bed is very uncomfortable!!! The shower is quite nice, though :) And there's wifi in the room which is fab! The staff were helpful at the front desk and the bar staff were friendly.

I stayed only 2 days for a conference. I found the ratio between price and service very good. On my return I realized at check in that I had forgotten my passport in the safety box in the room. Apart from the lobby being consistently busy, this hotel is a great base for the Pest side of Budapest. My room was large and the shower was great, although the floor made out of pebbles was unusual. The Metro is literally 30 yards from the hotel and a small parade of restaurants to the right of the hotel were popular, yet available without reservation. We stayed in jul 2016. The location is great. Heritage Great market hall and food streets nearby. Near the major tram, metro and bus routes. Near the river and freedom bridge. The swimming pool was nice too. Only issue I can think of was that the building is in 2 wings, with some rooms in wing A and rest in wing B. Main lobby is in A. The elevator changes to go to wing B are pretty complicated and the elevators were acting a little moody during our trip. Rest all good, great hotel.

Fantastic hotel. Ideally located for sightseeing. The male receptions were more helpful than the female receptions. Didn't have breakfast as it was too expensive for a continental breakfast. The service in the bar was excellent. Good size room with a good fridge that could fit a full size bottle of wine.
