I've stayed in many Mercures in various countries and generally rate them highly but have to say our experience in this one wasn't that good. The room (over the 'bridge') was small, clean but worn, carpet stains etc. and with what seemed like a very small double bed with cheap furnishings. More like a student room than a hotel room. Probably wouldn't try this one again.

The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly, and always available. I had a long stay there on my second stay (11 days) and there were some misunderstandings with the payment, but we sorted all out eventually. The breakfast was GRAND! and the service of the My Privileged Breakfast Lounge was attentive and nice (although there was trouble in explaining what type of cafe we would like to have :) ). On my first stay I has a resent that the window could not be opened, but after asking... Read more

Plus: Perfect location, very friendly staff, great breakfast. Thanks to the lady at the bar for the children-friendly colourful cocktails! Minus: pool opens at unpractical hours and water is cold; could not open window of the room (no air to breathe), noise in breakfast room (constant beeping of the coffee machine) is too much. Room for improvement to make this hotel really nice.

This hotel is on two sides of a road connected by a bridge at level three. We got a room on the other side . It meant we have to walk a bit, change two lifts, in order to go to restaurant or to outside. The room was clean and the bath room spacious. The sound proofing was excellent The special square pillows were a bit uncomfortable! Breakfast was good. The complimentary chocolates were yummy.

We & our friends were on a cruise for 2 weeks and then we were spending 2 weeks touring Europe so we each had a small carry-on suitcase and a larger suitcase (only 44 lbs. because of our airline weight restriction). We got into our rooms and they were VERY small. We didn't even have space for all our suitcases. The bathrooms were small, too. Our bathroom had one of those plastic doors on the bathtub/shower to prevent water from flooding the floor when in the shower but that didn't help much.... Read more

This centrally located hotel close to the Danube on the Pest side is tidy, efficient, and comfortable. The staff was gracious, helpful, and spoke English to help. Food in the hotel was excellent. The hotel is close to everything: the river, markets, and cafe lined streets. A great stay for a couple or large group.

I was looking forward to my stay in Budapest for the first time and my meeting in the hotel. It turned out to be far from good. First, the location is good with the Chain Bridge and many other sights in walkable distance. The staff were generally helpful. Check-in was easy and the staff in the breakfast room were friendly. They gave me an odd-shaped room at the end of the hall with twin beds, and an extra bed sitting in the middle of the room. This seemed odd since I was only one person. ... Read more

The reception was good. Quick and efficient. Staff were friendly. The room was quite small for a four star hotel as was the bathroom. The double bed was nice and big. It was well equiped. The bathroom was nice and modern but too small! There was a wide variety for breakfast and the staff were helpful.

The location suited us down to the ground. It is very central and walking distance to the Danube river. The hotel staff was friendly, the rooms fine, the bar food and the bridge breakfast were fine and fresh. The local wine was great, and great value. Good experience all around for the one night stay. Unfortunately, being on a business trip - I didn't get to see the city.

Perfect central position exactly above the Kalvin Tèr metro stop! Personnel is great, very helpful and kind, breakfast is complete and of good quality, my room was quiet (view was on a sad inner courtyard) and comfortable even if not big and with two separate beds. Internet is an issue: in the room it is very slow and difficult to log in, I would discourage a business traveller to book this hotel if a fast internet connection is needed. Good for a short stay in Budapest. Rooms are small and basically furnished but clean & reasonably comfortable. Breakfast is average for this type of hotel. I liked the coffee but this is a subjective taste. Public areas are attractive and staff are friendly & helpful. Towels need to be improved I got one which was worn through. The location of this hotel could not have been better, with excellent public transport links from the airport and around the city. Our privilege room was small clean and comfortable. Mercure Budapest Korona is located in an excellent place in Pest, close to everything. The stuff is very nice and cooperative, the breakfast is good, the rooms are nice and clean. But - the rooms are a bit small. They fit mainly to a single person, and a pair of adults (or even worse, 2 people that need separate beds........) will find it too tight. This hotel is in a brilliant location, right on the metro line and there's a station right outside the door. It's walking distance to many attractions and lovely restaurants but the room itself is quite average. A lot of sockets which don't work in the room and the bed is very uncomfortable!!! We stayed in jul 2016. The location is great. Heritage Great market hall and food streets nearby. Near the major tram, metro and bus routes. Near the river and freedom bridge. The swimming pool was nice too. Only issue I can think of was that the building is in 2 wings, with some rooms in wing A and rest in wing B. Main lobby is in A. The elevator changes to go to wing B are pretty complicated and the elevators were acting a little moody during our trip. Rest all good, great hotel.

Just outside, there is Raday street, with lots of restaurants and dinners, deferent cuisines including Iranian, Hungarian, Italian, Mexican, Turkish (halal), Asian and more. I really liked this hotel for the location and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Rooms were quite small and basic but very clean. There were a lot of choices for breakfast. We only had one complaint and that we struggled to get a table one morning but other than that I would stay here again.

So I am really careful when I write negative reviews, but I really think for the price paid and other options out there, this hotel was the worst part of my trip. Firstly the rooms are TINY. The bathroom is TINY - you can not swing a cat it in. It wasn't very well cleaned, fixtures and fittings tried too. The door to the bathroom is too small for the door, with a huge gap at the bottom - so strange. Knowing the rooms would be tiny, I did contact and speak to the hotel before hand and asked for... This is a nice budget hotel, very affordable and the best part is that is only steps away from major restaurants, cafes and pubs. On the other side the room is pretty basic with comfortable bed and free tea and coffee in the room. Bathroom is nice and clean and the metro is just around the corner. Beautiful location.

Rooms have dirty walls and bedrooms smell of smoke, probably from the old carpet. Beds are uncomfortable and small (I took a standard room). Small bathrooms with leaky and awkwardly angled shower head. My boss got an upgrade to the VIP breakfast room simply by creating an Accor account and told me to do so as well so we could have a meeting over breakfast but the same promotion was not offered to me despite my insistence. They insist on how they try to offer the best customer service but when I ... Read more

Sure the standard rooms are a little small and in need of some repair, but the beds are comfortable, and the hotel well appointed. The staff were excellent and their English skills made the stay so easy. We had a brilliant time and if we travel back to Budapest will consider staying here. The metro and trams are so close and make the city so accessible.

The Mercure is a good 4 star hotel. It has a trams and the underground right outside the front door, which makes it very easy to get around town and access practically everything you need. It is about three underground stops from the main railway station too. So very easy to access if you arrive in Budapest on a train. There are dozens and dozens of eating options located within a few hundred metres of the hotel. Most of them seem busy, so I assume that they are good. The ones I ate at were. T... Read more

This is a nice hotel, with a very nice staff, clean rooms and a quite rich breakfast menu. Unfortunately there are some negatives like they were not able to fix a problem with the safe (changing the code used by the former client), and the worse one is that they have that annoying policy not allowing to open the front street window, by reasons of safety. Anyway thanks Korona, maybe we'll see U again someday.

We stayed at the Mercure, which is well located in downtown Budapest. The hotel is clean, albeit a little dated and not the quality of other Mercure hotels.
