Budapest is an absolutely must-see city, full of history, beautiful buildings, great food and romantic vistas. We stayed at the Marriott right on the Danube River, and our large room had a view of the Buda side across the river. Everything about the hotel was excellent. It was immaculate, comfortable, attractive, and had a very good restaurant with a terrace on the river for outdoor dining. As others have mentioned the breakfast buffet had a variety of offerings. Wonderful hotel with prime location. Their gym on the mezzanine floor is well equiped and offers an exceptional view of the Danube. You should not miss their lounge on the 9th floor, and experience its day and night views of Budapest, absolutely breathtaking. The external restaurant also offers pleasant views and prices are very similar to other outside restaurants nearby. Food is good. Rooms are comfortable and well maintained, and you should insist in getting a room facing the Danube. The staff... Read more

As a regular user of MARRIOTT this time was pushed to book hotel with an lounge access as mandatory which lifted rapidly price of booking and then in lounge food was not delivered according to occupancy and people could not enjoy even enough of seating. I think this actually make an regular platinum members disappointed where they can't enjoy earned quality of service.

The Budapest Marriott Hotel is right by the river, conveniently close to so many sights. We read the reviews on TA to make sure we were up several floors for best views and to request a river view. We also had concierge service which can be added on. Wonderful breakfasts and light evening service prior to going out, although it was plenty a couple of nights. Clean and lovely service.

Ideal location when visiting Budapest for a short period of time with non-stop meetings. The hotel looks a bit like a bunker from the outside, but inside it affords you perfect views over the Danube river and the waterfront esplanade. Most places in the city were readily accessible by foot ‚?? the food and drinks in the main restaurant were consistently good. A great location in a comfortable hotel.

The four nights spent at Hotel Marriott Budapest were absolutely delightful. This was an experience that vindicated the Marriott brand. The room had a fantastic view. The hotel is at the bank of the river Danube and the Buda Castle is across the river. The hotel is designed in a manner that ensures a river view from every room. We stayed at this hotel during a Globus tour. We thought it was excellent. Clean, with good service. Breakfast was included in the tour but normally costs $30 so you may want to go elsewhere. All the rooms have a river view, other hotels charge extra for river view rooms. We stayed at the end of May 2016, close to or during high season. Walking distance to a lot of sites. Lacklustre entrance and reception staff just going through the motions. Room was very ordinary. We were given a room that was suitable for disabled so shower had a curtain around it with the result that the bathroom was pretty much flooded after a shower. Not ideal. Breakfast was acceptable. Our biggest mistake was booking two nights and not one.

We have stayed at quite a lot of Marriott hotels both in the UK and Europe and this is one of the best. It helps that the location is perfect right next to the river and the weather was good for our four days. The published check-in time is 4pm but I used the Marriott app to check in before we left London with an expected arrival time of 1pm. We got there at 1.15pm and the room was not ready but we were told it would be in 45 minutes - which is fair enough. The young man on reception was very f... Read more

The Budapest Marriott is in a lovely position on the Pest bank of the Danube, convenient for the city attractions, many of which are within walking distance, and with wonderful views. The exterior has the kind of Communist period architecture that makes the average British council block look like a masterpiece, but it is arranged so that as many rooms as possible get the Danube view, and ours was excellent. We spent 3 days in Budapest prior to boarding the Amadeus Silver for the river cruise to Amsterdam, staying on the Executive floor of the Marriott, where the views were spectacular. We loved it, easily walking across the historic Chain Bridge connecting Buda and Pest, to visit the National Palace, where an extensive Picasso exhibit was on display. Another highlight was taking a private city tour in the top-down convertible of a look-alike restored antique car. Budapest pleasantly surprised.

Decent value and a very clean hotel. The concierge and front desk staff were excellent. Terrific location to walk all over the city, particularly across the bridges. I am not sure you could put this hotel in a better location. Amazing view of the Danube, Palace, bridges, etc. We sat in the executive lounge balcony for hours just taking it all in. Hotel is located very close to the metro, bus stop, walking distance to most things. We didn't really eat at the hotel outside of the executive lounge so can't comment on that. But bar service was excellent and entire hotel was very modern and clean. Good wifi As the title of review states we are alrea... Read more

As Marriott Time share owners, we tend to choose a Marriott for our travels if prices are competitive. In Budapest, the price was competitive to 'local' hotels and you cannot beat the location! You can walk to the Gellert Spa, Central Market, shopping district, Chain Bridge, the riverboat docks (some are very close others you need a taxi), Shoes on the Danube, and more! The staff were helpful and accommodating and got us into our rooms early (we'd been traveling for >24 hours as most are when ... Read more

Great central location in Budapest overlooking the Danube River. A breathtaking scene at night with all the lights of the city. Very nice executive lounge. Centrally located to major bridges so you can walk across the Danube. Plenty of good restaurants nearby. Would come back again in the future.

Nice view from all rooms. Avoid first floor (I added 2 pictures I took from 1st floor) Large lobby classical furniture. Rooms are relatively small. Rich breakfast. Friendly staff. One block away from the crowded walking commercial street of Budapest. Surrounded by good restaurants.

Stayed for 2 nights at the Marriott Budapest. The building is really quite ugly from the outside and rather an eyesore in its prominent position on on the Pest bNk of the Danube, however the views out are spectacular. Our room was not particularly clean, and we had to chase up a couple of times for certain items that should have been in the room on our arrival. Staff were all very polite.

Budapest Marriott on Danube is best. For upgrade you can get breakfast and dinner INCLUDED...The dinner is listed as snacks but it is quite elaborate ex: chicken paprika, deserts, drinks etc. The location is great (a few blocks from Vaci street). Great views of the castle from your room.

This hotel is ugly from outside but comfortable inside: spacious rooms all with a view to Danube River. Big working table, resting chair, comfortable big bed, clean. I was not surprised about the breakfast, but the bar is cozy, good coctails and the service is good. I recommend this place.

After a fantastic river cruise with "scenic" we spent two days in Budapest a city with a rich and varied past. Staying at the Budapest Marriot Hotel, with a room which had a view of the castle on the seventh floor was a bonus. The central location on the river front with walking distance to so many historic landmarks made for a very enjoyable stay. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Budapest.

We had just finished an AMA Waterway cruise which ended in Budapest. We stayed an extra 3 nights at the Marriott there. We were on the concierge/executive floor therefore we could make use of their great food and drinks that were available all day. The staff was very helpful in suggesting sights to see and also navigating the city, On our last night there August 20, 2016 it happened to be St. Stephens Day. The entire city was celebrating and in the evening there was a fireworks display ove... Read more

Old Building New Attitude I enjoyed my stay in this hotel. I was in Budapest for business for 3 nights and this hotel helped me enjoy my brief stay. The building is old but the staff has a new fresh attitude. The rooms seemed like they have been renovated because everything looks nice and new. I loved the view of their club lounge and if you are lucky and got a view on the river, then you got it made. The variety at breakfast was decent. One of the finest hotels that we stayed in during our recent Eastern European trip, and I would recommend it highly. Try and get a room on an upper floor overlooking the Danube river, as this affords the best location viewing here. Service was impeccable and the location was perfect for both walking throughout the town and public transportation as well. The concierge was great in recommending restaurants for dinner and also additional sights for visiting in the city.

Stayed two nights here after a cruise. The hotel is of high quality and the service was as good as expected. Our room was spacious and well equipped with a large bathroom with good quality products. The minibar prices were as outrageous as expected. The view over the Danube and to the Buda hills was terrific. We had breakfast included and it was excellent. A good range of buffet food and fresh tea and coffee was welcomed each morning. The staff were very helpful. The only disappointment was that... Read more

There is nothing wrong with this hotel. The location is good and the rooms are nice with a comfortable bed and a nice bathroom. The only disappointment was that this huge hotel functions primarily as a business and overnight stay for Viking river cruises. The front door staff was not much help no one helped us with our luggage (5 star hotel?). It looked as there was no real dedication in any of the people who worked there. As such it lacked the personal touch like other less business oriented ho... Read more

This is my first time staying at this hotel and it was great. The room was clean and had a great view of the Danube River. I shower was clean and big enough to without feeling cramped. I also liked that they had an ironing board which is sometimes hard to find at other hotels in Budapest. I plan on staying here again in the future.

I have stayed here for working purposes. Overall - perfect view, perfect breakfast, perfect location. The personel is kind and nice. Rooms are clean with very comfortable beds but standard room is not so spacious. The Danube room view is spectacular. The only thing why I've put a 4 rating instead of 5 is fitness, spa and sauna. The whole fitness and spa is leased by another company, so it is really crouded by a non hotel guests. Sauna and spa do not meet 5* standard. If I came back to Budapes... Read more

We stayed for three nights in November, and had a great stay. The lounge is pretty nice here, and I imagine it is great and busy in warmer weather. They had drinks and food with the beautiful views. Downstairs has a nice restaurant with a buffet breakfast. There are plenty of good restaurants and shopping nearby, and many of the tourist spots can be walked to. I would recommend a day tour to get to see the sights (Tours by Locals has some good choices). The rooms have been renovated and the tubs... Read more
