We stayed here for a full week. It's a family business ran by a Greek owner and his dutch wife. Based in the nice town Koutouloufari which is about 2 km out of the rural coast town Chersonissos. Koutouloufari has a lot of "touristy" shops, restaurants and bars but is very friendly. Chersonissos is ok but busier and has more young people who come for clubbing. For beach try Stalis Beach (10 euro taxi fare / 8 min) This resort is based on a small hill and consists of small (semi) detached houses ... Read more

We have just returned from a week at these traditional village apartments. Being honest we had a bit of a shaky start to what turned into a lovely holiday. We arrived quite late at night and from reading the reviews on here knew that there would be no-one at reception when we arrived. The transfer bus dropped us off on the corner and we had about a minute walk to the apartments. The complex is as other people have said very dark and reception was a little difficult to find. We eventually found ... Read more

Arrived late afternoon, shown to room No 42, was low/mid-30s so paid for aircon and safe at reception. Was a bit concerned about the number of steps having read previous reviews but unless you have mobility issues it shouldnt be a problem, lower room numbers are lower down the hill. Spotlessly clean on arrival, two singles in bedroom, further two in living room (where I slept as was directly under aircon). Maid service approx every two days and was never first thing in the morning - always a pl... Read more

I would not recommend this place. We stayed in room 43 and would definatly not suggest anyone to book as we had to walk up loads of steep steps. No good for anyone who is slightly unfit. Or have small children or elderly. Rooms are incredibly dated but that's wasn't a problem. The problem was every time we had a shower the drains backed up in to bathroom. Ants everywhere. Phone in the room didn't work. Fridge was rusty and there wasn't an oven. Every time we drew the curtains they flew off th... Read more

Last visit to Crete was 20 years ago. Villa was quiet clean and had all required for relaxing break. Friendly staff and nice pool/sun area. Local area had plenty nice places to eat but walk further and area was disappointing. Would recommend if happy to stay local to enjoy area.

Went here in June 2016. Apparently it was its last season of the current owners. In my opinion the whole place wants demolishing and rebuilding! Yes the owners couldn't do enough for you. Yes the holiday was calm and relaxed...hardly anyone at this accommodation! The rooms were over tired to say the least! Stuck back in the 1970s. Basic equipment was ok and the room was cleaned regularly...bed linen changed in the week we were here. Koutouloufari is a lovely quaint Greeky place but there are far... Read more

We stayed here for two weeks and had a very relaxing holiday. The apartment was clean and everything we needed (and the cleaning ladies were lovely). The pool and bar are very nice. The vibe is pretty laid back. So, it's a good place if you are looking for a quiet, relaxing holiday. The staff are hard working, and very pleasant. My wife had a broken ankle and was on crutches, but the excellent reception staff helped find us an apartment near the pool. Greek BBQ night on the Monday nights was... Read more

This is we understand the last year for the current owners at Esperides Villas. Well it's probably as well because they have milked it for as much as they can! We like quaint and "real Greek" but this was pretty dire. The accommodation was one of the first in Koutouloufari and it shows as it looks like it's never been upgraded. Apartments are roomy but the quality of fixtures and fittings us "appalling". Showers there are over bath showered but the fixing for the shower head was not in place... Read more
