The Philippos Hotel was the choice of our tour but we stayed an extra 2 days since we were very happy there. It's about a 10-15 min. walk to the Acropolis entrance, and a shorter distance to the Acropolis metro entrance. Many restaurant choices are nearby around the metro. Our room was modern and very comfortable; the lift worked well. Breakfast was very good with many choices. Mikas at reception, was particularly helpful when I was using one of the hotel's laptops and needed to make copies. ... Read more

The location of this hotel is very good, in a relatively quiet and safe neighbourhood within easy walking distance of the Acropolis and the Acropolis metro station. The room itself was relatively small (also compared to other hotels we have stayed at in Athens before) and felt a bit dated. Especially the bathroom was pretty small. The room, and hotel in general, was clean though. The (free) wifi worked fine albeit a bit slow throughout the hotel. All staff were friendly and professional. The o... Read more

I had the great pleasure of staying in room 701, which comes with a private rooftop terrace with direct view across to the Acropolis. It's a small single (or very small double), but the view was worth the diminutive size. Service was cordial, professional and familiar. Modern but not bland. Perfect location steps away from anything I wanted to see.

The desk people where so nice and helpful. The rooms had a nice balcony with table and chairs for relaxing after sightseeing all day. You can get wine and beer to take up to the balcony. The breakfast has so many choices and the best coffee ever.

My husband and I had a lovely 2 night stay at Philippos. Our room had a very large balcony with a view of the Acropolis - an unforgettable aspect of our stay in Athens. The room itself and the bathroom are fairly small, but normal by European standards, and everything was very clean. A decent buffet breakfast is included with the room. The front desk and breakfast attendants were friendly and professional. The location is perfect, walkable to the Acropolis and Acropolis Museum and nearly everyth... Read more

I enjoyed my stay here- the location was perfect! We never needed to take a cab or the subway anywhere -- everything was walkable. The hotel is about a block away from the Acropolis Museum and it's just a little further to the entrance of the Acropolis itself. If you do choose to take a cab, you are so close the cab fares are only about 5 Euro to most attractions in the city. While the rooms are small, they are comfortable and the staff is very helpful and friendly. Great value for the locat... Read more

After a short wait, our room was available, in spite of an early check-in. Comfortable room and a convenient location. Short walk to several Greek restaurants, the Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum. Light breakfast included.

Nice staff and located close to the new Acropolis Museum and Plaka. Room was small but tidy. Bathroom extra small, even for European scale, but we saved a little by staying here over 2 other places we have stayed in Athens. Breakfast was nice and hot water was left in lobby for afternoon tea or evening coffee. Nice stay.

We stayed here one night and asked for acropolis view which was a mistake as we were given the smallest double room ever. Literally only room for a bed! Yes there was a good view and a big balcony but if you want to avoid staying in a shoebox avoid the room on 7 th floor. When we complained the next morning we were given 20 euros off price of 140 euros. This should only be sold as a single room. The hotel is in a great location and very nice entrance and breakfast room. Dont know what other r... Read more

My family of four enjoyed our stay at the Philippos. Rooms were small but clean. Since it was incredibly warm during our visit, the air conditioning was especially appreciated. The front desk staff answered all of our questions and helped us secure dinner reservations at the Herodion's rooftop restaurant. The location is perfect for walking to restaurants, the Acropolis, and the Acropolis museum as well as using public transportation like the hop on, hop off bus tours and the metro.

We stayed at this hotel in early June 2016 for two days. The location is superb; five minutes from the huge Acropolis museum and Metro station and a 15-minute walk from the entrance to the Acropolis. The hotel is on a very quiet, safe, side street, the rooms are small but clean, and the breakfast buffet is extensive. Each room is equipped with a safe. The management was always helpful with suggestions as to where to go and where to eat and helped us find a hotel room in Piraeus adjacent to t... Read more

On our 1st night we stayed here we had a twin room with a slight view of the Acropolis. When we left the next morning I asked Makis on duty if there was any chance when we arrive back the following week if it was possible to have a room with a double bed and a better view of the Acropolis, he said he will see what he can do. It was 6am when our driver was picking us up so he packed in some breakfast for us to have on the ferry on our way to Mykonos. When we arrived back he said he managed to arra... Read more

We just returned from staying at the Philippos Hotel. They were so kind and welcoming! They helped our group of 8 get acquainted with the area. The views from the rooms are outstanding! The rooms are neat, clean and comfortable. Two of us have food allergies. We alerted them before we arrived and they had gluten free bread for us at breakfast. Breakfast there is charming!

Small stuffy rooms with a terrible view into the neighbours houses and a balcony door that doesnt lock but makes up for it with the good service, great location and really big breakfast spread. Its all you need really If you are out exploring all day.

We booked this hotel after scouring reviews on the internet as this was our first trip to Athens. When we arrived, we were greeted with 'old world' charm. We were given a room on the second floor, which made coming and going very easy from the stairs instead of the small elevator. Our room was small (think NYC hotel) and had twin beds! It was a bit of a challenge as we had two large suitcases as we were heading for a two week cruise, but we made it work. The bathroom is very small, and the place... Read more

An amazing location! A block and a half to the walking path up to the Acropolis. You can eat dinner on the roof of their sister hotel, Herodion Hotel, right around the corner. What a fantastic view of the Parthenon! Our room included a very nice breakfast, the staff was wonderful and very helpful. For entertainment, the New Acropolis Museum is half a block away and two blocks further you're right in the heart of Plaka, with restaurants and shopping.

We stayed here on both ends of our 10 night trip for two nights each. The first stay we had one room with 3 beds. One for my wife and me and two for our kids. We had a nice balcony overlooking the street. The AC was fairly good. And rooms very clean. The second stay they offered us two rooms instead of the one, at no additional charge. The concierge said he thought we would be more comfortable in it. And we agree it was more comfortable and it was nice to have some private space with the mis... Read more

Triple share room with a balcony view of the parthenon. Room was ok, basic quality but can't complain. The free breakfast was okay too. Location near the Plakka district was nice, the loveliest part of Athens that I saw.

This may not be the most dazzling hotel but the location is superb for all the cultural attractions. Everything is within walking distance or a very short and very cheap taxi ride away. The staff are always on hand to book taxi's and help with directions. The rooms are clean but very small. The bathroom is tiny but if you are not there to spend time in your room then this is a perfect spot to see the sights. The Philippos is a very good place to stay when visiting Athens. Our room had a balcony with a view of the Parthenon which was stunning. The sites and metro are all easily accessible. The neighborhood is very quiet considering how close you are to sites and restaurants. The hotel staff were nice and helpful. The room and bathroom are very small but adequate for two people.

This hotel is in an amazing location where we could walk with our children to see all the sights! Our room was small but it was clean and fine for sleeping in. We didn't come to Athens to spend time in a hotel room anyways. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the buffet breakfast too (delicious greek yogurt, fruits, breads, coffee, hot chocolate, etc...). There are plenty of restaurants within a short walking distance also. I would definitely recommend this hotel!

We stayed in room 401, perfect for four people, 2 adults and 2 teenage boys. Rooms are on the small side, but you're not in Athens to spend time in your room. Rooms clean, good shower pressure and comfortable beds. Bathroom is small but functional. Staff very pleasant, and helpful. Breakfast spread was very good also. Location perfect! Near acropolis and near the main restaurant area. All perfect.

Great hotel, really reasonable in the best possible location. Literally the best breakfast we had on our trip, including upscale restaurants. Their yogurt was unbelievable. Staff was really helpful as well. Room was on the smaller side, but clean and quiet.

Spent multiple nights there over a two week vacation (used as the base for the trip). Some rooms have great views of Acropolis and the hotel itself is in a central location, a block away from the Plaka (the 'old historical neighborhood of Athens', filled with shops and restaurants). Excellent support from the staff, overall a great stay.

It was my second visit at Philippos and I was even more delighted to see it was not a "coincidence" the first good impression. It is a small and nice place to stay, close to Acropolis (just few steps, truly). The breakfast is not the most luxury one but the food is fresh and good (and loukoumades ... yaaamy). The rooms are rather small but clean and quite ok for a trip to Athens, where you go to visit the beautiful, historical places and not to stay inside. To be honest I have spent only the n... The location is great, one and a half blocks from the new Acropolis Museum. I had a small room, but it was all I needed, very clean, with a comfortable bed. I would describe this property as comparable to a boutique Sheraton or Marriott. A very adequate buffet breakfast started out my day. It had a large lobby with a library with computers. I had strong enough wifi in my room to stream. The front desk person were helpful and polite, they arranged a tour to Delphi. If you stay, check out a block ... Read more

The location is a big plus. You are in the middle of Acropolis and Plaka .Everything is a ten or five minute walk which is great .The other good part is the staff which were very friendly and helpful and getting taxi arranged and advising on how to go about the city. Rooms are ok for the price it's good.Bathrooms usual for a budget hotel. They could do away with the carpeting which smells in the hallway. Breakfast is good the typical European one . For the price it's not bad and the area is safe.

Very disappointed was told yesterday that there would be food for our early departure, down stairs at 5:30 and there is nothing but cake and dried break. Pack the day before or go hungry starting your day. Other than that the stay was okay and returning in 6 nights.
