The Philippos Hotel was the choice of our tour but we stayed an extra 2 days since we were very happy there. It's about a 10-15 min. walk to the Acropolis entrance, and a shorter distance to the Acropolis metro entrance. Many restaurant choices are nearby around the metro. Our room was modern and very comfortable; the lift worked well. Breakfast was very good with many choices. Mikas at reception, was particularly helpful when I was using one of the hotel's laptops and needed to make copies. ... Read more

The location of this hotel is very good, in a relatively quiet and safe neighbourhood within easy walking distance of the Acropolis and the Acropolis metro station. The room itself was relatively small (also compared to other hotels we have stayed at in Athens before) and felt a bit dated. Especially the bathroom was pretty small. The room, and hotel in general, was clean though. The (free) wifi worked fine albeit a bit slow throughout the hotel. All staff were friendly and professional. The o... Read more

I had the great pleasure of staying in room 701, which comes with a private rooftop terrace with direct view across to the Acropolis. It's a small single (or very small double), but the view was worth the diminutive size. Service was cordial, professional and familiar. Modern but not bland. Perfect location steps away from anything I wanted to see.

My husband and I had a lovely 2 night stay at Philippos. Our room had a very large balcony with a view of the Acropolis - an unforgettable aspect of our stay in Athens. The room itself and the bathroom are fairly small, but normal by European standards, and everything was very clean. A decent buffet breakfast is included with the room. The front desk and breakfast attendants were friendly and professional. The location is perfect, walkable to the Acropolis and Acropolis Museum and nearly everyth... Read more

I enjoyed my stay here- the location was perfect! We never needed to take a cab or the subway anywhere -- everything was walkable. The hotel is about a block away from the Acropolis Museum and it's just a little further to the entrance of the Acropolis itself. If you do choose to take a cab, you are so close the cab fares are only about 5 Euro to most attractions in the city. While the rooms are small, they are comfortable and the staff is very helpful and friendly. Great value for the locat... Read more

Nice staff and located close to the new Acropolis Museum and Plaka. Room was small but tidy. Bathroom extra small, even for European scale, but we saved a little by staying here over 2 other places we have stayed in Athens. Breakfast was nice and hot water was left in lobby for afternoon tea or evening coffee. Nice stay.

We stayed here one night and asked for acropolis view which was a mistake as we were given the smallest double room ever. Literally only room for a bed! Yes there was a good view and a big balcony but if you want to avoid staying in a shoebox avoid the room on 7 th floor. When we complained the next morning we were given 20 euros off price of 140 euros. This should only be sold as a single room. My family of four enjoyed our stay at the Philippos. Rooms were small but clean. Since it was incredibly warm during our visit, the air conditioning was especially appreciated. The front desk staff answered all of our questions and helped us secure dinner reservations at the Herodion's rooftop restaurant. The location is perfect for walking to restaurants, the Acropolis, and the Acropolis museum as well as using public transportation like the hop on, hop off bus tours and the metro.

We stayed at this hotel in early June 2016 for two days. The location is superb; five minutes from the huge Acropolis museum and Metro station and a 15-minute walk from the entrance to the Acropolis. The hotel is on a very quiet, safe, side street, the rooms are small but clean, and the breakfast buffet is extensive. Each room is equipped with a safe. We booked this hotel after scouring reviews on the internet as this was our first trip to Athens. When we arrived, we were greeted with 'old world' charm. We were given a room on the second floor, which made coming and going very easy from the stairs instead of the small elevator. Our room was small (think NYC hotel) and had twin beds! What a fantastic view of the Parthenon! Our room included a very nice breakfast, the staff was wonderful and very helpful. We didn't come to Athens to spend time in a hotel room anyways. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Good hotel in the safe neighborhood very close to Acropolis and Plaka. There are good restaurants in the area. You can walk to the main shopping street in 15 mins. The hotel serves a good breakfast. The rooms and the bathroom are clean. The bed in out room was a two singe beds put together but we did not feel that as a problem. The hotel staff is attentive and tries their best.
