Sadly, this is my first 'terrible' review. I reserved for some friends who wanted to be in the area, and when they called two nights before they said the reservation was cancelled! We were given all sorts of excuses such as: "you didn't pay a deposit" although I was told I didn't have to since I now live in Athens and did the reservation through my business. Then I was told "you didn't give us your phone number" although every email I sent had my signature with both my cell and office number. Su... Read more

due to the ongoing renovation our stay at the phidias was anything but pleasant. we booked it through booking.com and were never informed about the renovation or offered a discount. so the room was dusty all the time although room service tried very hard to get it as clean as possible. construction started every morning at 8 which was a very unpleasant surprise on the holiday and the weekend. wifi is poor, it works a bit in the cafe, capuccino is great btw. and the waitresses lovely. if you lo... As of June 2015, when I stayed here. There are two classes of rooms in the hotel - renovated and not. The renovated rooms are on the upper floors. When booking a reservation, insist on one of the rooms on the 2nd or 3rd floor. Everything is new, clean, and what you would expect from a basic hotel of this category. The first floor, however, is a disaster and should be avoided. Overall: I would not hesitate to stay here again on the condition that it was in one of the renovated rooms on 2nd or 3r... Read more

4 wonderful nights. The smart new renovation has all the staff happy, and helpful. Our room overlooked the outdoor cafe. Double glazing meant nights were quiet. Cafe staff were very good, and gave good eating recommendations including a Crete restaurant.

Evidently, this hotel has been newly renovated and the new reception area of white marble and classic grande chandelier gives a charm of Athena. Sales manager, Konstadina will provide you will the best service as well as information and a warm smile. The rooms overlook Apostolou Pavlou; they are large enough, very clean and the bathroom/glass shower has plenty of hot water. Sheets and towel are changed daily. The Hotel cafe is open daily and also can be used by guests at breakfast. The Acr... Read more

This hotel is lovely and clean and has an excellent location. It is only a 5-10min walk from Plaka and has a beautiful view of the Acropolis. The cafe downstairs serves excellent coffee and the staff is extremely friendly! The area around is filled with cafes that the locals hang out in and nice restaurants.

We loved the Hotel Phidias and can't praise it enough! We stayed there for three nights a couple of weeks ago at the beginning of our trip to Greece and then returned for one more night at the end of the trip. The hotel was beautiful, comfortable and spotless and had delightful staff both in the hotel and cafe. The location is perfect as you are right on the pedestrian street that will take you almost everywhere around the Acropolis -- we only took one subway ride the Archaeology Museum and actu... We only stopped in at the Phidias Hotel, for an evening drink with friends while exploring Athens and heading back to our accommodation from the Plaka region. We really enjoyed our stay at the Phidias. It is a small, old-fashioned hotel, not a modern luxury hotel. The location is great, on a pedestrian street near the Acropolis, with lots of cafes, lots of people strolling around, and a very pleasant atmosphere in the neighborhood. Our balcony was right over the street. It is walking distance from the Acropolis and many other major tourist sites here, and there is a metro stop close by. There is a cafe in the hotel. The staff was very friendl... Read more

This is a nice hotel that is close to the ferry ports in Pireaus. There was nothing overly special about it, but it was clean and a place to sleep. I was very impressed with the helpfulness of the staff. We arrived very early (8 am) after an overnight ferry trip. I was sick (nauseous) and had been sick most of the night prior. The staff got a room ready for us right away and we checked in around 9am. I slept until about 2pm in the room. The air conditioning worked great and it was quiet. I was s... Read more

I reviewed this hotel a couple of years ago and revisited this June on another trip to the Greek islands. It really is a fantastic little hotel. The newly renovated rooms, whilst on the small side, are spotless, with everything you need. This is not a luxury hotel but the room rate is a real bargain. The location is good and much nicer than that of hotels nearer the port itself. A short stroll takes you to the marina and there are some good restaurants on hand, as well as other shops. But ... We booked this hotel for a day/night stop over in Athens before flying back to Australia. Great neat hotel in a fab location. Lots of cafes & bars near by as well as walking distance to the Acropolis. Reasonably priced for location especially being European summer. Staff friendly & helpful.

Stayed here for two nights. We stayed on level 2 in room 203. It looked as though our room had been renovated recently. It was clean and tidy. We had a nice little balcony that overlooked the pedestrian street below. The beds were comfortable and the pillows were fluffy. The included breakfast was decent, with freshly squeezed orange juice and espressos to order which was a nice touch. When we arrived we were told we booked a double room for one person, which we had accidentally done. I didn't... Read more

Not only was the room not as advertised but it wasn't even a room-at least the size. Their site advertises their budget rooms as 15m2 (about 162 f2). In reality the room was about 8m2 (86 f2). Yes, 8 square meters! The fan in the bathroom was out of its socket and out of order and the light above the mirror was out of its socket, too--see pictures. The only thing the hotel's description said was that it lacked a window---which I was willing to put up with. When I asked the receptionist who pos... Read more

Our stay at Phidias was amazing! The staff at Phidias were pleasant and helpful. The family room we stayed in was clean and modern. Apart from a wonderful place to stay, the location was close to everything. No need for a taxi as Phidias is walking distance to all major points in Athens. Highly recommend Phidias Hotel to anyone visiting Athens!!!

Booked 4 nights. Writing this with a day and night still to go. Double room with extra bed on the third floor overlooking pedestrian road which hasn't given any noise issues. Lovely views including park and Acropolis. Room is narrow and some people would consider it small but it was modern, clean and all facilities worked well. Breakfast is plenty (hot and cold) before setting off to explore. It has also been nice to sit outside with a drink. Although the metro is nearby, we walked as location o... Read more

The hotel is located in Thissio. The neighbourhood is on the other side of the Akropolis than Plaka and Monastiraki. You can reach these hotspots by foot or metro from the hotel. Thissio has a nice sort of boulevard where the hotel is situated. In the evening there is a market alongside this boulevard. There are also some restaurant nearby with roof top terraces that have an amazing view on the Acropolis. The hotel looks new and clean and offers everything you need for a nice stay in Athens.

I was very satisfied by this clean and renovated hotel, right along the pedestrian road that semicircles the Athenian acropolis. The breakfast was rich and of good quality. We were there for two nights and no one came to clean up our room but we did not ask for it either.

First of all arrived at the hotel the receptionist wasn't there. He is also working as a waiter at the restaurant. The wifi doesn't work in the room that I have. The bathroom was smelling as sweage. The room is really overpriced it should be half the price to match what the hotel is offering. The shower curtain that is white is brown on the bottom. Breakfast is kind off an american breakfast missing a lot. The meats are sour. Haven't tried the cheese. The yogurt and orange juce are good. Went ... Read more

Stayed here 3 nights and found it to be a good choice for Athens. It's within easy walking distance to all the biggies (acropolis, etc.), is on a pedestrian walkway, and is updated and clean. Reception was always helpful when we had questions and while the rooms weren't gigantic, they were of comfortable size. Our street facing room had a small balcony with a table and chairs, which made people watching great. On our last night we did move to a room facing the back as my wife is quite noise s... Read more
