Stayed at the Elpida Village for two weeks- a very last minute holiday. Travelled from airport by shuttle, but some slight mix-up meant coach took us to Malia then rest of journey by taxi at no extra cost. (return journey 3 hour round trip to airport; not great....) The Elpida is a lovely hotel in beautiful surroundings. Can honestly say that we immediately felt welcome! Luggage taken to rooms for us. The staff here are amazing- are friendly, helpful and as the owner told us 'if you are ... Read more

Myself and 3 of my close friends (all girls aged 25years old) booked our very first girls holiday to Crete via Low Cost holidays. We went for just 4 nights over the bank holiday weekend (28th August 2015 until 1st September 2015). Arrived in Heraklion airport at about 2pm and got the shared shuttle, which did take about 2.5 hours and even though we were aware of this we did feel quite fed up by the time we reached the hotel (which was about 5pm) - it was totally worth the long drive, next time w... We stayed with our 5 children for 9 nights at the end of Aug 2015. The hotel was fab, all five kids were happy (which is tricky when the teens have such different needs to the younger ones and toddler!) Staff friendly and helpful, rooms basic but clean, views AMAZING! The pools were a massive hit and the hotel is very pretty, not like the concrete monstrosities of some value All Inclusives. We met lots of lovely people of different nationalities and spent interesting evenings sitting outs... Read more

It's the third time that we 're staying in this hotel and every time its quality increases. We stayed there for 4 nights with our two children and everything was fine. The food was OK. The personel were very polite and were there to fulfill all your demands. The two pools were clean although there was a lot of people there. There is a playroom, a kids area and a small gym. The location is perfect, you can visit Aghios Nikolaos, Spinalonga in a 20 minutes car ride. The beach is perfect in a 10 m... Read more

Elpida village is a nice complex, full of green and flowers, amazing view, great pool, clean rooms, free airco, good breakfast, quiet, close to one of the greatest beaches of Crete! We had a room with a super view!

Very friendly staff throughout the complex, maids came in everyday and had fresh linen and towels twice a week. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Only had to ask at reception and they would help as best they could. Brilliant views from most rooms, and from poolside. Only downfall is that it is up a steep bank.

A wonderful hotel in Agios Nikolaos with a great view and only 10 minutes away from Voulisma, one of the most beautiful beaches in the area. The location was very peaceful and calm and the hotel has spacious rooms with a homey and retro vibe. It also has a big swimming pool for adults and another one for children. The food was great and it had a variety of dishes to choose from. The people of the hotel were very helpful and kind. It was a wonderful experience and I can't wait to visit again

We brought our 3 children here in August 2015 after reading several reviews I was a bit apprehensive, there was really no need!! The food was lovely, the rooms were clean and tidy! The hotel grounds were beautiful! I can't fault anything and I'm normally quite picky!! I will definitely be taking the family back here! 2 weeks just wasn't enough for us in such a wonderful place!

We came here on a last minute 7 night break, 2 adults, 2 teenagers and a 7 yo. Thankfully we didn't pay full price or we would have been extremely disappointed. We always go AI but this hotel in no way is what you would normally call AI! Drinks were extremely limited; beer, rose wine, white wine, brandy, raki or ouzo. They were very poor quality. The soft drinks were also very poor. Think supermarket budget brand gone flat! The drinks stopped at 22:45. There was also a period of time in the aft... Read more

My mum and I stayed here for a long weekend - it greatly exceeded our expectations. Fantastic friendly staff, plentiful freshly prepared food at each meal, clean rooms and amazing views. It is definitely a steep walk up steps or paths from the main road, but we did not find this a problem. The elevated location meant there was a pleasant breeze from the sea. We were happy with the beer, wine and spirits that were offered with AI, and also sampled some very good and reasonably priced cocktails. T... Read more

What can I say? Just returned from a lovely week away here. It was great!! Our holiday did not start the best as myself and my girlfriend were caught up in the Lowcost Holiday scandal. We arrived at 1:30am and were told that Lowcost holiday had gone bust and we had to either Leave or pay for our accommodation again and try to reclaim the money. I know this was not the hotels fault in anyway shape or form. The man on reception dealt with our situation as nicely as was possible. Moving on from t... Read more

A quirky Greek hotel on the side of a mountain with stunning views of the Bay. (Not for those with walking disabilities). The staff are very friendly, helpful and professional. Wonderful greeting in Reception from Maria, through to friendly bar staff especially Aphrodite, Alana and Manhole. Food is good but hot food is barely warm. Again though, the restaurant has stunning views.

Elpida village hotel is the friendliest hotel I have ever stayed in. Upon arrival at 10:30 pm we were shown to our rooms by Nickos, who informed us there were rolls and drinks waiting for us at the bar when we were ready. Thought this was a lovely touch. The animators were fab. I joined in with Yoga/stretch and Aqua splash nearly every day. They made it sooo enjoyable and fun. The majority of the other guests were Polish and a some of the activities were geared around them, but this wasn't a ... Read more

We stayed here for a week at the end of July for a family holiday, there were two families & we had two of the two bed family apartments & chose the all inclusive package. The hotel itself is beautiful, with a real rustic, traditional Greek feel. It is laid out like a village with everything built around a central courtyard which is dominated by a huge tree which, in the day provides a shaded area to sit & at night is beautifully lit up with fairy lights & lanterns. Although the hotel is only 28... Read more

Already saving for our 3rd visit ;) This time we took our 3 children with us, I must admit we wasnt sure how they would be with the hill to the hotel and the heat, Everything else we had no worries about, we knew they would love the hotel, the staff and enjoy everything the hotel had to offer, thankfully we didnt really... As described by several other fellow travelers this is a excellent place - and great value for money too. It has a unique feel of Greece that is currently rare. All big resorts tend to look the same nowadays. Had a great time, even though August is obviously the busiest month. So if you want to enjoy the great nearby beaches I would suggest you choose June or at least to July. Food and service was top notch, as were the cocktails at the bar. Thank you Elpida for a great time!

After 4 days at Elpida Village, I can ensure you that I enjoyed every minute of it. The simple-at-first glance but well-detailed environment with excellent view, at the ocean and the Cretan mountains at the same time, can relax the eye and the mind. Nice cocktails, good food and pleasant service made my stay here exactly as I wanted it to be. Thanx a lot! I will see you again soon.

From the moment we arrived (at about midnight-we were met by a man who took our bags up to the hotel) we were treated so well.We had been made rolls and were given drinks in a lovely reception room. Our room was perfect overlooking a beautiful bay with a balcony-we had room 80.Food can be a problem for us as we do not eat meat but we did not have any problems as there was always plenty of choice of excellent quality. We stayed here in August for a week, this place is unique and very quaint, the views were stunning and it was peaceful here The rooms are kept very clean and daily visits were made, the drawback is they complex is on many levels and there are steps leading off in many directions so could be a problem for pushchairs and people with walking issues, the pool is lovely and there are many places to sunbath and chill out, there is a smaller pool for people who don't want to be in a deep pool. there ... We walked to Voulisma beach from here it's not as hilly as I expected. Path is steep up to reception but they came down and fetched our suitcases. There is a free shuttle bus to Voulisma 10am 1pm 3pm. Fantastic views from our room and plenty space. Food was mass catering style but perfectly adequate. Entertainment provided by a Polish tour firm but they did speak some English. Kavos taverna by the beach is great. Had nice cocktails at the Palace.

A nice 3 star holiday complex in Istron, a 12 kms south of Agios Nicolaos. Easy to reach through the new road. We had a apartment with 2 stores. Ground floor the living room with a spare bed and a sofa(bed), upstairs bedroom and a bathroom. Plenty of hot water for showering. Beds ok, cleaning and new towels every day. Breakfast plenty of choice, buffet. There were a lot of Polish guest during our stay, youngsters, they liked raki a lot, but caused no problems, except for the bartender, a lot of... Read more

We stayed in this hotel in September 2016 for a fortnight with a 4 yo boy. All good things which are written in other reviews are true. Clean and spacious rooms (nothing odd, but all the necessary things were present), delicious meals (not very much choice, but we always found smth to eat, and the meal was really tasty), very welcome and helpful stuff. This isn't a fancy hotel but is charming, clean, comfortable and provided a perfect base for our 10-day break. We arrived at about 3am to be greeted by the night manager who provided complimentary drinks before driving us to our room. The hotel is unusual in that it's spread out in blocks, we'd paid a little extra to stay in a superior room, no 6, a 5-minute walk from the reception area, and would recommend this option. There was plentiful parking although we didn't hire a car. Room 6 was s... Read more

Spent a week at Elpida Village, early September and enjoyed it very much. The weather was great, and going to the beach nearby was well worth it. The hotel was clean and felt "Greek". Staff was helpful. Food way above the average all-inclusive. Drinks were ok. I would easily recommend it.
