stayed on Hafen hotel during a business trip in Hamburg. It is central located new two different metro stations. My room was in the new wing of the hotel. Big and nice room and also clean. The room has a big tv and small fridge and nice big windows facing the street. Very near to the Saint Pauli but still in a safe and quite area. Breakfast come extra at almost 20 euro which is too much although breakfast was good with a lot of choices. A good hotel especially if your travelling for business. ... Read more

We booked into this hotel because it overlooked the harbour where Hamburg holds its annual harbour weekend celebration. At just under £200 a night (without breakfast) it was probably the most expensive hotel we have stayed at, with the exception of a night at The Savoy in London. Our first floor room overlooked the car park and was over the doors to the hotel's rooftop bar. One window was obscured by scaffolding. which stretched along the two adjacent walls from top to bottom. In the room's we... Read more

My husband fell ill before we started our journey and his flu worsened. The staff couldn't have been kinder. The manager called an excellent doctor. He waived all room service fees. They provided a kettle and directed me to a nearby grocery store to buy tea and other provisions. I liked the location, right by the bustling port and within five minutes walk of an interesting district of Portuguese restaurants and small sidestreets with galleries and other shops. Not chi-chi like downtown but more ... Read more

We booked this hotel because it's close to the business my hubby needed to go and it is in the harbour close to the landingsbrucke. This hotel has very nice and comfortable rooms for a decent price if you book in time. The breakfast is good, you can eat warm and/or cold dishes. Good service, great staff and dinning outside on the terrace gives you a great view. This is the place to stay in Hamburg, in 5 minutes you are in the harbour, you can take the U bahn which is also a 5 minute walk and in... Read more

The Hotel is Modern and well appointed. We stayed in the "Captains Class" type room, which is in the newer part of the Hotel. The room was clean and well laid out, well lighted with large windows. Our room did not face the Harbor, unfortunately. There are rooms that do. But Beware- The Sun comes up on that side of the Hotel. It is best to call the Hotel to find out which ones do. There is free WiFi, fast and adequate for most purposes. Breakfast costs extra, and is in the older part of the hote... Read more

The location overlooking the harbour is excellent. The hotel itself was a little basic in terms of the bedroom decor and bathroom. The shower cubicle was small and the drain was partially blocked so that one has to stand in a rising puddle of soap suds. Hotel management tried to fix it to no avail. Fine for a business overnight - not where I would bring my wife for a romantic weekend in Hamburg. I do understand that there are modern rooms in a different wing of the hotel, however these do not h... Read more

Quick stay as needed to be in port. Booked 2 nights and left after one. No A/C and stifling rooms. No coffee maker and no ice. Marginal hotel. Note the train station nearby is all stairs. Took taxi to airport and stayed at Radisdon blu night before flight as cheaper and great experience.

This hotel is located on a small hill and when you get a room on the side of the Elbe river, offers some amazing views, especially at night. If we would have known this upon checking-inn, we would have asked for a room on a higher floor where I expect the view to be even more spectacular. Check-inn was fast and efficient. The members of staff I encountered all spoke decent English. It is a grand old building feeling a bit like the inside of an old castle. Not much light in the corridors, but thi... Read more

Stayed here for business but it was certainly also a pleasure. The hotel is perfectly located close to the river and a lot of bars and restaurants. It is easy to find by car just parking is a litte limited and expensive. The rooms are basic but efficient. It was very hot during my stay which was a bit uncomfortable as there is no airconditioning. WIFI works perfect and the staff is very friendly and helpfull. I will be back

Breakfast at this hotel is very good, the staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel offers a sky-bar and a great view over the Elbe. The only downside is that the rooms have no air conditioning, which was a little bit of a problem during the hot summer days of our stay.

There are two parts of the hotel Hafen, I stayed in the new part. First things first, the location is excellent, right next to the Elbe. The rooms are spacious, meticulously clean, pleasantly decorated, and have everything you need, including nice soft towels. The breakfast is good, and the bar in the old part of the hotel is really cosy. All of this merits a 5 star review but there was one problem. The lack of air conditioning in the room made it pretty impossible to sleep due to o... Read more

If you want to have the best view of all the shipping activity on the River Elbe, just book a room at the Hafen Hotel. You don't have to book a room that actually overlooks the river because the hotel has a leaf covered terrace that gives you a magnificent vista. To the left you will see the Rickmer Rickmers, an historic sailing vessel and beyond this there is the another interesting ship, the Cap San Deigo, a vessel which used to bring bananas to Hamburg! And in the far distance there is the to... Read more

Massive positive for this hotel is the view, it's stunning and we were lucky enough to have a room overlooking the harbour. Few downsides I'm afraid though. The hotel is located high up and only really accessible by climbing a great deal of stairs from the harbour which I think is not made clear enough on the website. You can in fairness access the hotel from its level by taking the S Bahn to St Pauli station but again this was not made clear and only found out by some exploring. The other downs... Read more

From the pictures and information you are lead to believe this hotel is full of character.. Wrong!! The reception and public rooms are quirky but the bedroom we had 30416 (in the main hotel) could have been a 3 star anywhere in the world. No a/c. No tea/coffee facility. Had to open windows for any cool air and noise from outside made sleep difficult. Noise from train line although we were on other side of hotel! Partial view of river only. Many steps to/from river and train station. Heavily stai... Read more
