Well appointed hotel within walking distance of city centre and main station, but in a quiet area by a lovely park and next to the Philharmonie and Aalto Music Theatre. Position could not have been better. Outstanding breakfasts, room and particularly the bed were perfect. Staff very friendly, always wishing to please and nothing too much trouble. Great atmosphere in the bar!.. Next time in Essen we will definitely stay there.

Great location to the Bahnhof and downtown shopping district of Essen. It is just a couple of blocks away to the center of Essen but in quiet area with a big park and lake boarding the back of the hotel.

Great business hotel in the heart of Essen, lovingly situated next to a park. Quick and easy access to the city (shopping & restaurants) and businesses alike; either by foot or via taxi. The rooms are great; Wifi works; really good breakfast and the team at the bar just knows how to keep the vibe running.

Five stars? This place doesn't say much for the ratings system. Dull location, dull rooms, dull decor. I've stayed several times and whilst it's clean and normally priced, it's amazing there doesn't seem to be anything better locally in such a wealthy industrial city. Oh, and housekeeping banging on your room door at 8.20am wanting to clean it doesn't say much about how long most guests stay. Probably for good reason.

This hotel is old, dirty and badly managed. The small room has dirty old sofa and bed is old, lumpy and uncomfortable. The management give the worst possible rooms to guests, even though they have better rooms available and lies to guests about it. They force you to downgrade your room to a smaller room claiming the hotel is full, when it is actually half empty. The manager is abrasive, rude and crude especially to non-Germans. The small lounge is not staffed at all and has the worst possible fo... Read more

We spent two days at the Essen Sheraton as my husband attended a trade show. Enjoyed the Sheraton . It is a 8 min walk to the train station or take the tram ( metro) for only one stop . It is right next to the opera house. Lots of restaurants either direction of the hotel . Comfy large room on the club floor ( do club level if you can) . Included continental breakfast with the club level and snacks and wine/beer/soda all day . Highly recommend this location . Only issue was the air conditioning ... Read more

I must first point out the staff are top notch, multi lingual helpful and friendly. But how depressing a hotel it is.. The lobby is very old fashioned dark, brown and black feels very oppressive which is a shame as they have an amazing location looking out on to the park and should make the most of it. This is a business hotel if I have ever seen one and I have seen a lot. Facilities are what you would expect from a mid range luxury hotel brand but it does need updating you can't even get free u... Mainly a Business hotel but does not cater to the road warriors' needs. I arrived at 11:00AM after flying all night from the States, and would not give me a room until 12:30 claiming that they were full the night before, even though I had requested an early check in. My point is that even if the hotel was full the night before, there should have been able to clean a room or two by 11:00AM so they could have accommodated my request, instead of waiting 1 1/2 hours. The hotel especially the lobby... Read more

My other half stayed one night in the hotel this weekend. Mostly we were impressed. Reception staff were very helpful, friendly attentive, polite and effcient both at check-in and check-out. Restaurant staff when we had breakfast this morning were also examplary. The food was excellent, choice very wide, and very nicely presented. The room was very good. Two large twin beds and very cosy to lie on and sleep in. Spotless and modern room. No noise along the corridor or from any neighbours.... Read more

I went on Sheraton Essen Hotel 2 times, for a International Fair, since most of the time i travel i always tried to go for the Sheraton. Yes, iĀ“m a loyal client of the Chain, but this Hotel made me hesitate to write that two or three times. Very expensive for what it can offer. Rooms very old , by far not the Sheraton Standard, the staff itĀ“s not the most friendly, breakfast for a Sheraton itĀ“s not OK, in fact the Bar as extremelly slow people. Went twice since as written before iĀ“m a loyal... Read more

The staff are seriously incentivized toward making as much money as possible from their clients rather than trying to give them the best deal. I've stayed here several times, they know me, I'm in the system, and each time I have to provide almost all info, different forms, etc, and they ALWAYS change the already established company rate. It's a joke. Check motel one, way better service and client attention. The only reason people keep going to this one is because of the name.

I came for a trade show so a business trip and Sheraton was best option hotel in Essen - provides all business requirements you would expect with the added benefit of overlooking a park, with outside dining space. Light comfortable bedrooms. Tiny gym lower ground but with window with some daylight. Ordered room service, very limited menu, it was ok. I was on Executive Floor which is nice, lounge is very small but adequate with basic drinks (including wine & beer) & snacks available throughout t... Read more

I had to stay in Essen at the Sheraton because there were no hotels in Dortmund where I was attending Inter Tabac. When I saw the Sheraton I did not hesitate to get it booked. The Sheraton lobby is okay and is In need of updating. The rooms were club rooms but were nothing special. If your expecting the hotel to have the regal and premium feel of a typical Sheraton then you will be disappointed. The positive for me was the service and attitude of the staff. I needed a lot of photocopying done an... Read more

Really Nice room, good value, friendly staff, Great location and secure carpark and free water in the room! Breakfast and car parking are additional cost items and in both cases quite expensive. Quality of room was absolutely first-class lovely bed high quality quotes and bathroom which is beautifully fitted out. Will go again but will continue to have breakfast down the road where there are several great coffee shops at half the price

This is my third time at this hotel for business. The worst part is that the rooms face the sun, but they air conditioning doesn't work. It seems they apply same use of the a/c system as used to be the case of Chinese government buildings in the 90s. Result of course is that the rooms are unbearably hot if the outside temperature is above 12 degrees Celsius. Other than that, the hotel is functional, the rooms probably refurbished the last time sometime in the 1990s although the bathrooms seem ... Read more

OK hotel, meeting Sheraton standards from many perspectives. the rooms (I was on the SPG floor) are really nice, comfy, with a sofa, nice desk, fantastic view of the park, so all perfect. The location is very nice - you are right in a very nice park, when I traveled the leaves were just turning so it was just splendid. I had a park ffacing room - beautiful views. This was a nicely outfitted hotel, with excellent food and service and a very gracious staff. Be prepared, however, to spend 18 Euro ($20.00) a day for wifi in your room. It is free in the lobby area only. And if you want to get a good night's sleep, make sure you do not have a room facing the front portico of the hotel. Hotel guests and revelers stand just outside the lobby to smoke and, especially if they've been partaking of the German beers, the noise will keep you awake until all hours... Read more

Good, quality corresponding to its category and its name, however not charismatic. I stayed a single night and didn't use most of the facilities. However, all I used corresponded to my expections. Would I come back? Well, why not? But at the same time: Why should I?

The Sheraton offers the usual Sheraton standard. This has many positive sides. At the same time it was the first five star house in town many many years ago. Consequently here and there you will see and feel the years. This includes design as well as technical equipment, number of energy plugs etc. However - you will get a solid hotel room that fulfills al standards. What I like is the lounge for the club rooms. Its neither exclusive nor super big, but some kind of cozy. In the evening there i... Read more
