Hotel: Stayed in this hotel for a business trip and it's not a bad hotel. It does feel a bit outdated but it's not the only hotel in Essen with this problem. The hotel is clean and the looks nice. Price: Often discounted which makes it interesting but retail price is too high. Room: Rooms are spacious and have everything you would expect. the bed is good and you got different choice of pillows. furniture is typical for a holiday inn. The bathroom could use an update. Overall a good room. bath... Read more

Happy with the service we received. Help full staff. Nice restaurant. Cosy rooms . Hearth of essen. We were in 3rd floor with a massive double room. Could fine a negative point in this hotel. There are 2 holiday inn near each other so try not mistaken them.

Booked rooms for myself and colleague as I rely on IHG hotels for good quality comfortable rooms. This was up to standard, and the location (just opposite a huge new shopping mall in Essen) was excellent. Colleagues who booked into other hotels in Essen for the same meeting were less fortunate (I heard a number of grumbles!) but I imagine they paid less. Staff spoke perfect English, were very helpful and professional and the sauna area was very good. One down side was the amount of street noise.... Read more

+ close to city center train station, walkable. + close to nice eat outs. + breakfast was good + staff are nice and very professional + accessories are available on request. forgot my toothbrush and paste and they provided one with no hassles. + good pillows, both soft and thichker ones provided + have a wired internet option in the room for better speeds than wifi - expensive: 120? and above - No AC, so got hotter during warm days. - Wifi was not great but good enough

Hotel is getting old and needs a revamp. This is suppose to cater for the business man but if you really need to work forget it. The Internet is worst than a so called 3rd world country. It is bad extremely bad. When you talk about German precision then I wonder where is it?? You cannot get any work done.

Very central, easy to get around, shopping close, restaurants in the area are good, any cuisine or country food available Wi-Fi extremely poor at the hotel, they should really have better Wi-Fi, for a first world country the data services are shocking

Just had a quick one night stay on a Sunday night. Very happy with quality of room and breakfast buffet for price. It is a business style hotel that is heavily booked so book ahead. Easy to navigate to this hotel. Park in taxi zone in front of hotel to check inn then you must find a 2 hour ticketed street park 10 - 5 M to Sat OR pay for parking in hotel. Small problem - Our IHG membership entitled us to an upgraded room. This was not given. However when we went to room on first floor overlookin... Read more

I stayed here with my family for 7 nights in August 2016. When we found out there was a Pokéstop withing reach of our room we were extremely happy and excited (see attached picture from our window). After enjoying a great day in the local areas such as Essen, Mülheim an der Ruhr and also Düsseldorf (all within a short train ride away) we came back to the room, put our feet up to relax and drop a Lure module... And just let the Pokémon come to us. One day I even used a Lucky Egg to evolve my ... Read more

One of the best holiday inn hotels which i have evwr visited. Advantages - it is 500m from the city center but it is not noisy - very delicious food (smoked salmon for breakfast ;) ) - very clean and comfortable rooms - small but existing garage - nice, kind staff Disadvantage - only one, the bandwidth of free wifi is terrible

The Holiday Inn in Essen City Center is at a perfect location, especially for business travelers. Located truly downtown Essen, not far away from the train station (walk or 5 min taxi). Close to shopping and restaurant locations. Stayed in basic standard room. Clean, basic amenities, quiet (was on third floor), BIG breakfast buffet, well visited bar area, and really friendly staff. We will continue to stay there for our business stays in Essen Germany.

I spent two nights at the Holiday Inn. Is a 15 min walk to the train station or take the tram ( metro) for only one stop. It is near the University. Comfy large room and a very nice breakfast with lots of selection. Highly recommend this hotel. The staff are *superstars* - esp Mr Sebastian Sommer - and no task is too big for them. Only issue was no air conditioning and a slightly noisy construction site which made it had hard to leave the window open during the day.

Since my visit a year ago this hotel has gotten worn down and become a bit more shabby in its appearance in certain areas and looks a bit dated for a 4 star. Outside appearance does not say 4 star hotel. Spotlights that are on 24/7. Weeds in the rock landscaping and paint is dull. Lobby area is a bit dated, but clean and sparkly. The staff (all departments related to guests) are great, they do their best to make your stay comfortable despite some of the problems with the physical property. Fr... Read more

I stayed here while I visited the Spiel faire in Essen. The distance to the faire is a little bit too long to walk if you need to carry anything, you are better off to take a taxi. In relation to the Spiel faire the hotel had set up two large rooms for people to play in, alot more nice than playing in the noise at the faire. The hotel had a very nice breakfeast and in general seemed like a very calm hotel. It's located very close to the city center so we ate at restaurants in the center of Essen... Read more

This hotel has a great location in the city center and it is clean with very friendly and polite staff, but the quality is not high enough for the price I have paid. Furniture and rooms equipment is old and very simple. Especially beds with plastic mattress covers are very uncomfortable. My room's windows were directed to the parking house located in neighborhood. Its lighting was so strong that even curtains didn't help.

This was our second visit to this Essen city centre hotel, arriving as we did for a long weekend to visit the very impressive Weihnachtsmarkt situated just a few minutes away on foot in Kennedy Platz. All the staff without exception in this hotel are friendly, efficient and professional. Nothing seems to much trouble for them and in our experience we did not encounter any member of staff who did not speak perfect English. If I had to point out the one most single thing that sets this hotel head ... Read more
