I stay in this hotel most of the time when I visit our company's headquarters which is at the Zollhafen. The hotel is in walking distance and very conveniently located for that matter. The location is quite central in any case and good as well for sightseeing and walking around in Cologne city center. As you would expect from a Novotel, this is not a luxury place and you won't be taken away by the amenities, room quality etc. But everything is clean and nicely serviced. The room has everything ... This Novotel is located a bit south of Cologne oldtown, about 15 minutes walk. The walk is nice, along the Rhine. Garage located in the basement. Rooms are very large and comfortable, with an amazing soundprofing of the windows. The street outside is very busy but there is no noice whatsoever from that in the room. Breakfast is top class and a guess is that the restaurant is as well. Roomservice was quick and the food excellent. But then to what takes the rating down from a 5 to a 3; I find th... Read more

I stayed at this hotel twice for business. A good quality/price ratio compared to the other hotels around. You can reach this hotel from the train station by walking 20-25 minutes. Restaurant is good, breakfast as well and the rooms are comfortable. A good place to stay next to the city center.

Nice hotel and good location, short walking distance to the shopping area, but outside of the busy streets. The breakfast buffet was very nice and the family room space was quite good. The bar could have offer some snacks in the evening time, as now there was only a card for drinks.

Good location, nice modern layout. Double bed was nice and comfy and we had a fold out double sofa bed for our two kids. The free wifi could have been a bit speedier, there was a lot of lag trying to stream video content but you will be fine for regular browsing. Decent breakfast with your usual continental items such as breads, cheese, cold meat, cereals etc. There is a basement car park which costs around â?¬14 a day, you get a ticket on entrance and can just pay for an hour or two (â?¬1.70 ph... We stayed at this hotel for a city break. It is located within the business district, and is a good 15 minute walk into the (old) town of Cologne. If you walk behind the hotel down the smaller side streets, there are some wonderful local restaurants and bars. You can also get the bus from that area to which takes you to the main town area. Very polite service from the driver when we took the bus which was great. Our room was at the front facing onto the glass crane buildings looking over the Rh... Read more

From the outside the hotel build is quite ordinary but once inside the cleanliness is evident for all to see. The staff were all helpful but I think there should be more information material available for people who are staying on a break rather than just frequenting the hotel on business. The rooms were incredibly clean and the beds were comfortable but on request our room needed more pillows as the 4 we had for 4 people was a tad on the light side, but on asking nothing was of any trouble fr... We stayed at the Novotel on a recent leisure visit through Cologne. It's exactly what you expect from a Novotel. Nice staff, clean comfortable rooms and an all around modern hotel. It's close to the chocolate museum, it's not so close to the town centre. You can definitely walk it.. we found it a bit far however it was raining often throughout our stay so had it of been clearer weather the 20-25 minute walk wouldn't have been much of an issue.

We stayed in the hotel for 3 nights visiting Köln and surrounding area. The hotel is about 30 minutes walk from the train station. The room was clean and well equipped. The staff were efficient and helpful. The breakfast was very good. The only hitch was the breakfast was charged for 15 euro instead of the pre-payment rate of 11 euro. The reception quickly corrected the oversight. We would stay here again next time we visit the area.

OK 4* hotel. Our room was rather small than average for 4*, the amenities were good. Breakfast was good. Regarding location - for those who don't mind some walking (from tram) or "just" walking (15-25 minutes from the center, depending on pace) the location is good. For those looking for central location, it's not. If you plan to be in Koln during Christmas markets, one of the advantages of Novotel is that two of the seven Koln's Christmas markets are located not far from the hotel. As the mar... Read more

Well located less than a stone's throw away from the Rhine (but please don't throw stones)- away from the hustle and bustle of the DOME but a good walk (10mins) from it and they have baby strollers and the room layout is comfortable.

In Cologne for a summer weekend. I stayed for the 3th time in this hotel. Room was slightly refurbished especially the bathroom. Very good sleeping quality typically Novotel. I got a free late check out on sunday untill 5 pm. one of the benefitss of being a-club member. Did not take breakfast, It is still pricy, but of excellent quality. Got a free parking space under the Severine bridge some 350 meters away. Lobby was recently refurbished. I got a excellent price arrangement over the a-club of... Read more

After staying at the Mercure Nurenberg (on the way to Austria) which was excellent in all areas, the Novotel at Koeln was a disappointment. The corridors smelt bad, the room was barely adequate for a couple and older child, The dinner was poor, my wife could not eat the salmon (the hotel refunded this cost of this dish), the breakfast was so expensive we decided not to partake.

The staff was incredibly grumpy and the rooms are very small. The lobby has been nicely renovated, which makes the rooms look absolutely shabby by comparison. It is also located off a busy street. The review might would have been more slightly favourable, but the rudeness of the staff to me and my family over on our last morning there clouded the whole experience. I would not recommend this hotel.

We stayed here for 2 nights. The hotel is very modern and clean. The rooms are big and had a sofa. The bathroom was clean but dated. They are currently in progress of renovating the rooms so improvement is under way. We had air conditioning which was really helpful as it was very hot. Breakfast was not included but it is really expensive (ca.19â?¬) and in the bakery a short walk away we got our breakfast for 12â?¬ for 3 people. The location of the hotel is very convenient. However compact room and bathroom no complaints. Delicious breakfast but you need to be in good walking condition to walk to the citi center. About 1,4km. Near to the chocolate museum. Large underground parking at 17â?¬/night. No BVN on the tv in the room. Pity for the belgian and dutch travelers because no netherlands channel.

Do to a sudden change in our travel plans, my group had to find a hotel fast in Cologne. After a search on I stumbled upon this hotel and the price was a big surprise, so we booked it. We arrived after midnight and were greeted by a very friendly and helpful young man in the lobby. He told us everything we needed to know and even gave us a map of the city, showing us the major sights to see. The minibar was included in our price of about 200 euro, and so was breakfast. Have stayed at this hotel before but not for a few years - still happy with it. It's well located, maybe 15 mins walk from Aldstadt, down by the river. Easily reachable from U-Bahn stop Severinstrasse. Staff are really nice on arrival - mostly excellent English speakers. We had adjoining rooms for our family and it was overall very quiet. We all slept well. Rooms are maybe a little tired but are currently being refurbished so should be a big improvement. Breakfast is good - excellent ch... Read more

You get here everything you normally expect from a Novotel - spacious rooms, good furniture, well-equipped bathrooms with a bathtube, a healthy breakfast with a nice view of Rhein river. The property is very near to the most important landmark - the Dome - several minutes by bus or car (which we drove). The hotel has its own parking, which is relatively cheap for guests. For us it was a very good choice for a night+day in Cologne.

Good (though pricey) parking and easy to get to and from the centre.... but from there on it was disappointing. I stayed at the Novotel for three nights while attending a conference in Cologne. There is nothing grand or elaborate here, but the room was comfortable and the staff was friendly (with the exception of 1-2 people). They have a restaurant/bar in the hotel. I stayed here for a couple of nights for business. The positives were nice staff and quick taxis. The minuses were multiple. The rooms had not been renovated in a long time and felt very tired and sad. The hotel was next to a noisy main road. More importantly, getting wifi access was a complete nightmare. I travelled with four devices - two phones, a laptop and an iPad and I failed to get any of them to connect, except one phone for a couple of minutes. Particularly frustrating was a suggestio...
