Just a few minutes walk from the train station and centrally located, mere minutes from the Christmas markets, Cathedral, riverside and bars. The staff were very helpful and friendly, the breakfast buffet offered a very wide and high quality selection. The room was comfortable.

A very centrally located hotel just next to several bars/pubs. The entrance becomes noisy and crowded in the evening due to rush to these bars. Rooms are classically decorated with basic facilities. Do not expect much but can be classified as a "somewhat budget hotel". Clean and cosy but some staff members, especially the older ones, are not interested in the guests' comfort and needs.

We recently stayed at Hotel An Der Philharmonie while visiting Cologne. At first we struggled to find it as the taxi drivers by the main station wasn't keen to take us. they told us that the trip was too short and not worth the effort. A warning in case you have lots of luggage - there are some stairs to climb in order to get to the hotel. When we finally found the hotel we were impressed. Not only is the hotel a minute's walk from the river and about 5 minutes from the Cathedral, but the ro... Read more

Approaching an age whereby I should start subtracting a year like some well known European actress's, I did the chaps thing and succumbed to my wifes offer of a 2 day trip to Cologne. Expecting a round of shoe and handbag shops ,was pleasantly surprised to find she had booked a hotel by the side of the Rhine knowing my passion for water, boats etc. Sensible family run unpretensious hotel with 4 floors. She knows I sleep poorly so arranged a top floor room before hand and sure enough this was arr... Read more

The hotel is a brief walk from the station and the cathedral, and the river is 100 metres away, with all the attendant bars and restaurants. We had room 401 which is effectively a suite for the price of a double room, and was quiet. Probably 301, 201 and 101 are similar. The décor and furniture were a bit old-style but the hotel was comfortable, good value and the staff friendly and helpful. Best to have a room away from the front of the hotel, especially at weekends, because of the noise... Read more

This 3 star hotel is located between 2 bars/pubs (like a sandwich) with loud music outside. The bars have speakers so people can hang out outside, talking, yelling, dancing and making out. The loud music started in the early afternoon and I just can't tell you when it stopped but surely later than midnight. If you want a normally quiet hotel, don't stay there.

I stayed here from 14th February for a week. My room (206) was very well appointed with everything that I needed. Arriving quite late there was bottled water & pretzels in the room which was a nice touch. The shower was huge and toiletries were provided and my room cleaned thoroughly every day. Breakfast was plentiful with lots of variety and very reasonably priced. The staff were very helpful when asked for directions or places to eat. All in all my stay was trouble free and I will certainly ... Read more

I stayed there 4 nights. Even if the employes are kind and helpful, the hotel is not a 4 stars hotel ( I do not know how in Germany they rate the hotels.. ). The room was very cold at my arrival, the receptionist was kind and found out that one radiator was closed. It was difficult to open it because behind a grate. The warm of the heaters were not enough for the bathroom : it seemed to be with open window ( minus 6 outside on those days ). Only because the gentle receptionist brought me an el... Read more

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights during New Year. The hotel is within easy reach of the station and is a good little place to stay. The room was very clean (carpet a bit old though) and the staff were efficient and friendly. The bed was comfortable and there was a very handy (and Very much needed for Cologne) safe in the room. It was a bit noisy as other guests could be clearly heard, but fine. I would rate the hotel higher were it not for what happened at the end of my stay. The worst aspec... Read more

It appears this place has gone through a recent renovation. The room was new and had a comfortable bed and a newer bathroom. It you are visiting the Dom this is very close. It was also between to of the Christmas Villages and close to others. The rate was about $103.00. Plus a hotel tax of around 3. Euro.
