Hotel Lobby looks like a 70's polish apartment, and also smells like one. In our case there was a very friendly young girl behind the counter, and she helped us very polite. To get to the parking place you have to be a schooled stunt driver. The whole building looks like it was held in time in world War II. The hallways have a very funny smell, and the carpets look like there has been some flooding problem, water stains everywhere. The doors to the rooms are all very loose when closed. The room ... I'm a student so I like everything that's cheap. This hotel was definitely cheap and it wasn't too bad either. I wouldn't say "am Potsdamer Platz" (at Potsdamer Platz), though. It you take the bus to Potsdamer Platz, you'll have to walk about a kilometer to get there. Though it's a bit far away from the centre of Berlin (if you ask me), it's still located in "Mitte" and there's easy access to get to whereever you want to go in Berlin, whether it's to the centre, to Neukölln, Kreutzberg or Prenz... The best thing about this place is how easy it is to get around Berlin when staying at the Alper. But at times it's horrendously noisy (strip club next door, disco beat all night Saturday night and into Sunday morning), at certain times the hotel patrons seem to consist only of sole males (it's not a cat house though) and one or two of the staff were downright unfriendly. But I didn't find the experience too terrible and it was a cheap place to spend a week.

I definitely not recommend Alper Hotel. Though hotel is in the center of Berlin, it can not make up for plenty of inconveniences I met there. The room was so tiny that it was hard to get to the toilet, because the bed stands just next to the doors. The lock was not always working well. When I was about to use the elevator for the first time, it didn't work so I told this to the receptionist and he said it's my fault. The bathroom was bit dirty but sheets, towels and the rest was fine. Next to th... Read more

We were kind of forced to use this hotel.az we were travelling with a dog and this hotel was one of the nearest to.center that allowed a stay with a pet. The hotel is old and ugly but kind of cheap. But anyway I would not want to go there ones again.
