Visited this world class spa at the Coco Ocean Resort and Spa. It was a wonderful experience. I had a Hamman bath and a facial! The package cost DHS1,200 and lasted 2 hours! The whole atmosphere at the spa is calming, relaxing and altogether beautiful. If I visit The Gambia again, I would love to stay at this hotel.

The contrast couldn't be greater between this beautifully designed and executed resort on a pristine stretch of beach and the surrounding communities. It may not be comparable to the level of a five-star hotel in other parts of the world, but it is still a lovely place. It's set in a hot dusty town, though, and then this dream oasis is plunked smack down in the middle. The staff is great and although there are a few chinks in the armor it's hard not to enjoy. Probably the only true Five Star Hotel in the region. Stunning ocean views, Beautifully landscaped property and truly spectacular details in furnishings and accessories make this one of the best places to recharge, rest and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Hotel is a surprising find as it is right in the middle of a dry, dusty and depressed town. From the entrance to the grounds, reception and all the service staff, you get professional courteous greetings from arrival and throughout your stay ... Read more

Unfortunately I am late with this review and visited the hotel in March 2016. Coco Ocean is a beautiful hotel, with beautiful surroundings. I selected to stay here having previously experienced the spa on an earlier visit to The Gambia, my main intention was to once again access the excellent spa and good service. I had a thoroughly positive experience, the attention from the entire staff team was exceptional from start to finish, thank you Terry for organising my initial appointment with the ... Read more

There have been one or two senior management changes at this hotel, it seems to have improved what I already thought was a good all round experience. The new GM Terry went out of his way to make sure he found out about my stay and was always happy to engage at any level of discussion. In general the whole place seems to have perked up a bit, cosmetically it no longer looks quite as tired, lots of attention has been paid to decor and furnishings. The Hotel is architecturally very appealing with a blend of North African and West African influences that combine very well. The setting of the hotel is ideal, the gardens are beautiful and well maintained. The grounds are dotted with palm trees and inhabited by friendly monkeys and a huge variety of birds. What strikes you on arrival is the size of the place, the extent of the gardens and the general air of greenery and calm. A bit of an oasis, supported by a very large number of dedicated local staff. To a discerning eye, the design and particularly some of the interiors a rather miss-match of assumed African styles, but you could not fault the quality of materials and workmanship, Particularly taken with the garden layout and pavilions on a sloping site down to beach access. Service of staff at the restaurants, outside breakfasts, at the pool was great. I did some fishing trips which I arranged upfront and my local fishing contact rented me a rod to do shore fishing. To avoid hurricanes in the West and typhoons in the East our choice fell on Gambia and the Coco Ocean Resort, a relatively smaller resort (87 rooms) and did not regret it. This hotel is said to be the best in Gambia, even by locals. Your first impression when walking onto the grounds of the resort will be that of a perfect oasis. We adored our stay last week at this lovely hotel with a kick-back feeling, and lots of accommodating staff to make the experience easy, charming and beautiful. Hats off, especially, to Yusupha Drammeh, the Duty Manager and Ria, the new manager who is superb. The visiting Spanish Chef accommodated our vegan food requests with an imaginative, gorgeous, plant-based cuisine. Sitting on or walking the beach was immensely pleasurable.
