I recently spent a week with my family (wife, 22 year old daughter, 19 year old son) at the Sofitel Moorea la Ora Beach Resort. We had a very positive experience. The staff is friendly and happy to help with any issue that may arise during your stay (thanks Louis and Leonard). The housekeeping staff and serving staff are very pleasant and perform their duties well and with a smile. My husband and I recently stayed here in March 2016 for our honeymoon. We stayed for 5 nights and 6 days in an overwater bungalow (OWB). We recommend you stay a minimum of 5 nights in order to truly relax and enjoy your stay on this beautiful island. We actually bought a package deal from Costco to book our trip and stay. We did some extensive research on the cheapest deals around, and Costco won best deal during March 2016. The package deal included round-trip flights to- and from- LAX on Air ... Read more

We stayed at the Sofitel Moorea from 21 to 26 April 2016 in a beach bungalow. We were with our 5.5 year old daughter. We had such an absolutely wonderful time over there that we ended up staying most of the time at the Sofitel. The resort is a luxury resort yet gives you a feeling of being at home. It is of human size, unlike other luxury hotels we have seen on the island. Didier, the director, and his staff are instrumental in making you feel so. There are also lots of things to do in the reso... Read more

Fantastic resort, don't get me wrong. However lots of little things that need improvement for such an expensive 5 star resort that won a luxury hotel award in 2015. The positives, great location, fantastic gardens and surrounding landscape, the most friendly staff you can expect, great diving tours, beach and lagoon snorkeling. The bad, I have travel extensively throughout the world and the worst internet access I have ever experienced is now at this resort and not in China. It was absolutely pa... Read more

Having now stayed at the Four Seasons in Bora Bora, I'm probably spoiled for life for any other hotel on earth, but we enjoyed our time at this resort, too. It's not what I would consider a five-star, but certainly a solid four for the most part. The staff is very friendly and welcoming, greeting you with a hello and a smile no matter where they run into you and what job they do (other hotels should take note - THAT is how you make a guest feel welcome). We stayed 3 nights in the lovely Sofitel before we boarded our cruise ship for New York. We were in an Ocean View bungalow which was very comfortable and looked out over the pristine sea. The breakfasts each morning were delicious and we ate lunch each day at the hotel. We did have 2 meals at night at the hotel which were excellent and one night we were picked up by a shuttle and taken to a restaurant - Rudi's - about 20 minutes away. Arriving mid morning from a cruise we realised there would be a delay in accessing our Villa, however it seemed the hotel policy was to make everyone wait until the magic hour of 2pm, although we had seen our villa wasn't occupied and had been prepared! When you are a captive market at a hotel, food and service is so important and you don't want to feel like they are taking you to the cleaners cost wise. We dined only one night in the restaurant and the menu wasn't extensive and was expensive.... Read more

I've put off writing this review for a few weeks because once I do, it's officially over! This was the trip of my dreams, what I thought was once in a lifetime. However, after having stayed at the Sofitel, I WILL make it back. Whatever it takes. We arrived early in the morning after a night flight. Our hotel room wasn't ready (which we completely expected, check-in is at 2pm, as normal for any hotel), but the check-in process was a breeze, and really quite fun. This resort is on a beautiful white sand beach which has a lagoon of the most unbelievably beautiful blue water. About 40-50 metres from shore are quite large patches of coral in water that is only 5-6ft deep. Here you will find lots of pretty tropical fish that make fascinating snorkelling. You can also stand in the water and hand feed fish bread. Crumble a bit in first to bring them around. We stayed in a garden bungalow and requested to be on the Temae Beach side of the resort. The hotel grounds are pretty nice and the price seems pretty reasonable. There is a nice long beach with plenty of chairs and cabanas. The one huge drawback is the food available. There are 3 places to eat at the resort and the food is equally horrible at each. Aside from breakfast, which is great, my wife and I ate 4 meals with multiple courses for each meal and literally every dish was disgusting. The islands of Tahiti has been on my bucket list for decades and it surpassed my imagination with 5 stars!!!! Moorea Sofitel was our first 3 nights in Tahitian paradise. My husband and I chose a "Beach Front" bungalow and it was definitely right at the edges of the crystal clear lagoon in #415. Had our own deck and ladder to swim in the ocean anytime, it was especially wonderful on the full moon nights. The service was excellent and food at the restaurants was superb. There was always ample room around you, be it on the beach, or in the restaurant. The quality of food was French, i.e. very good, the prices accordingly. A set menu (3 courses) in the restaurant starts at 75?. But you can also hace something small, like Sashimi, Lasagne, catch of the day or the likes in the bar for less than half the price and you still are si... Read more

great place to get away and relax-- luxury without destroying the beauty of nature--over the water bungalows are awesome--on the down side, the rooms are way too expensive and the hotel food is good but not great--but it is not a tourist trap and the beauty of nature and the friendly people make it a great retreat--a combination of the old time beauty and relaxation of the south pacific with modern luxury

We stayed 4 nights here to start our 9 day vacation and had an excellent time. We had a lagoon view room which was great. Amazing view and a very nice room with nice amenities. The hotel has a nice beach location and close to airport and ferry slip. We arrived early and were welcomed by Luisa who did a very nice job get us checked in and orientated. She Also got us into our room 2 hours early - thanks you !! The lagoon had nice coral reef areas with lots of fish great for snorkeling We had di... Read more

My husband and I had a great stay at the Sofitel for our honeymoon. The resort was stunning and our overwater bungalow was amazing (I would opt to get the luxury one over the standard overwater bungalow). The staff was very nice, always greeting us wherever we went and they were always eager to help. The water was gorgeous. After going to a few of the other hotels on the island for various reasons, I will say that the Sofitel was way better than the rest (maybe minus the Hilton)). The water was ... Read more

Room - we stayed in villa 217, an overwater bungalow at the end of the pontoon with unobstructed views of the island of Tahiti and also the beach and hotel property. The views were stunning! It does get quite windy on this side of the island, however the breeze is welcomed after a long day in the hot sun. For our room specifically, we noticed that if you left the toilet room door open you could smell sewage faintly, but only if you left it open for long (the toilet room is a separate stall off t... Stayed here earlier this month and enjoyed every moment. The property is beautiful with a very nice layout. We stayed in a garden bungalow, but still had a wonderful view of the water from our patio. The snorkeling was great with crystal clear and calm water just steps away every day. My wife enjoyed a spa day and was very satisfied with the experience. The breakfast buffet was good and had slight menu modifications daily. Cannot complain about any part of our experience.

When you invest in a vacation, Dining becomes important and excellence expected. We selected Sofitel Resort for our stay because of the International Reputation of the 2 starred Michelin, Execitive Chef, Gulliaume Burlion . Howerver, on our arrival, we were concerned when we could not find his name featured on the Menu, Hotel Manifest or any Marketing advertisement whatsoever. The Resort should identify, recognize and commend of their Chef's well earned world wide accomplishments. (Google) The p... Read more

We have spent 2 nights in a very lovely bungalow over the lagoon. Great location and the lagoon itself is beautiful (beautiful blues, quite fishy, very clear waters). Very friendly and professional personel. Very nice breakfast. Disappointed though by the "K" restaurant (nice settings but food clearly below our expectations). Also the hotel is very exposed to the wind - jumping into the lagoon from the bungalow is not that attractive when the wind blows too much.

Beautiful resort, beachfront with plenty to do. Staff is very accommodating, food is great, and the live entertainment is awesome! The Bungalow we stayed is is wonderful, and just a 2 minute walk to the beach. No matter what you do, get up in the morning and watch the sunrise over Tahiti from the beach. You will not regret it. Also, enjoy a huge buffet for breakfast and dinner...while eating dinner enjoy the view of Tahiti at night.....the lights are beautiful as well.

Tucked in well away from the main road so no noise. Well maintained and in much better condition than the Sofitel in Bora Bora. Excellent breakfast but the bottle neck is the one guy who makes an omelette or fried eggs to order....please put two cooks on here at peak time! Excellent pool. Franck at reception was soooo helpful, firstly with lending us an adaptor plug and secondly attempting to rectifying a hassle we had with a tour operator. The wireless internet was no good in the bungalow and s... Read more

The stayed 3 nights at the Sofitel during our honeymoon in french polynesia. Moorea was our first stop in french polynesia. We arrived very tired after a 36 hours journey from Spain to Tahiti and unfortunately the room was not ready but they invited us to have breakfast as it was only 8 am. The breakfast had a great selection of fruits, breads, juices... The Restaurant K is also very good and we highly recomend a dinner at the K. We really enjoyed it. I wish trip advisor had 1/2 star ratings available because really this resort deserves 4-1/2 stars. It surpasses 4 star but doesn't quite make the cut for 5 star for 2 specific reasons: the beds and the pool area. Things we love about it: 1. Proximity to the ferry. 2. Best view on the island...much better view than the other 3 main upscale resorts (Hilton, Manava, and Intercontintal) because from Sofitel you have an amazing view of the entire island of Tahiti since the resort is on the east s... My husband and I stayed in a garden bungalow during our recent trip to Moorea and had a very good experience. The beach is absolutely gorgeous and the our room was spacious and nicely appointed. We also stayed at the intercontinental on Moorea and much preferred the Sofitel for the grounds, room and service. The food and drinks were also better (though expensive at both places!) The service was slow, but we saw that in all our hotels in Tahiti, so I advise other travelers to go with it and emb... Read more

My husband and I stayed at this beautiful hotel for our anniversary and loved almost our entire stay. The grounds are beautiful and the water was amazing for swimming or snorkeling. Our only complaint was that they had a large rap concert open to the public on Saturday night, which was our actual anniversary. I am not sure why management thought this was a good idea as a large portion of the the hotel guests were couples there for a quiet, romantic holiday. Our bungalow was about a 3 minute walk... Everything about the Sofitel in Moorea is wonderful. The location, the quality of accommodation. (We had a luxury garden villa that was next to the lagoon), the staff did whatever it took to make sure you were happy. Breakfast was excellent and plenty of choice as you would expect from a hotel catering for a mainly US customer group. Yes the brochure price is expensive but it is worth it and the prices of drinks and food was similar to other places on the island. One thing for Kiwi travellers to... Read more

This was a fantastic place to stay in moorea. We stayed in an over water bungalow and were able to swim with a range of tropical fish and hire sup boards to paddle over the clear blue water. Beds were comfortable and breakfast was great. Only down side was the service at dinner time, our orders were confused multiple times meaning lengthy waits in between meals, but over all tasty food. Definitely recommend this resort!

The villa was very luxurious, and beautifully designed so that although it was right on the beach with people directly outside it was private inside. The hotel itself had a great beach bar on the sand for lunch and several restaurants. There was music and dancing every evening, happy hour for half price cocktails, plenty of places to sit around and enjoy the sea views.
