InterContinental Bora Bora Resort and Thalasso Spa
Motu Piti Aau, Bora Bora, French Polynesia 98730

When you first see the island of Bora Bora, with a lagoon comparable to an artist`s palette of blues and greens, it is love at first sight. Dreamers from around the world have laid claim to this island where the citadel-like Mount Otemanu breaks through the sky. Lush tropical banks and valleys bloom with hibiscus, while palm-covered motu circle the dazzling lagoon like a fragile necklace. Perfect white-sand beaches give way to emerald waters where tropical fish animate the coral gardens as they greet the giant manta rays. This could  easily be construed as the heart of the romantic universe, where leisurely resorts and spas dot the island with overwater bungalows, thatched roof villas, and mythical ambience.

The resort is situated perfectly for outstanding views of this ancient volcano. A private tour via kayak outside of the resort by Heiarii, one of the 'beach boys', will be one I shall cherish for a lifetime! Jonathan, who also works along side Heiarii, gave a tour showing me one of the motus his uncle lives on. Jonathan & Heiarii showed me their Bora Bora that's not advertised for vacationers. I will be forever grateful! Cathy, one of the waitresses who works at the resort, greeted my mother and... Read more

If you plan to visit Bora Bora, the best way to do it is in an overwater bungalow. That's what all the hype is about and staying in one is the ultimate in dream vacations. I loved that bungalow and all the unique features. I loved the walk up to the bungalow. I loved all the architectural amenities that they managed to so artfully incorporate into one little bungalow. The glass bottom floor takes precedence, of course, but there are countless other things that make you feel as if it could n... Read more

I stayed for 5 nights & it was the perfect amount of time. The overwater bungalows are beautiful especially the glass floor in the room. Stunning scenery and friendly staff however for a 5 star resort the standard of the cuisine was very disappointing, One night I had the market fish which was dry and over salted. At the Tipanyi restaurant we had the beef which consisted of 500 g of steak (each!!!, totally over the top) just plonked on the plate with zero presentation and no taste .. The list goes on ..... Surprisingly poor for a 5 star restaurant.

Other than the beautiful lagoon area, I cannot see any pro for this class of resort. For the con, there are too much to say 1. Room is too small as compared to Hilton Bora Bora or other similar class of resort. Hotel guests are not eager to stay at the balcony as it is really too small. 2. Beach chairs are too limited and you have to fight for it. Also, 90% beach chairs are broken and cannot sit very comfortable. We started in Tahiti for 2 nights, then Moorea for 3 nights, & had saved 4 nights here. We first stayed in beach bungalow #410 & it was absolutely beautiful. The hotel grounds & rooms are very clean & spacious. The final 3 nights of our honeymoon we stayed at the end of pontoon overwater bungalow #334 & will never forget this trip. It was a once in a lifetime honeymoon & this hotel exceeded our expectations everywhere. Food was delicious & plentiful. The pools & beach never seemed crowded. Every... Read more

Truly beautiful! Le Meridien Bora Bora lived up to and exceeded our expectations and really was like living in a picture postcard. Perfect place to unwind and relax. Apparently the resort was full but it seemed to absorb people without ever feeling crowded. My only disappointment was the lack of lunch variety/venues. We went to the mainland twice for dinner which was well worth the effort. Bloody Mary's and Bora Bora Yacht Club were fabulous.

It was such an awesome experience !!! Beautiful place, beautiful mountain. We had the pleasure of viewing Mount Otemanu across the lagoon from our overwater bungalow. We would like to give a special thanks 2 all staff, especially Safy the italian girl! She was so helpful and always smiling and ready to make our stay as enjoyable as possible! Mauruuru! Grazie! Thank you! We will come back again. For sure!

Just returned from Le Meridien Bora Bora. The resort was the perfect size, the beach and over the water bungalows were amazing. This resort is situated in a perfect spot. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Book two excursions and the girl that helped us was wonderful and got us exactly what we wanted. The resort food and drinks are very expensive, but that is normal for the island. Drinks from the bar can run you $20.00 US, Coke Zero runs abour $5.50 a can. The resort could use more beach... We stayed at Le Meridian Bora Bora for the final 3 nights of our honeymoon that began in New Zealand. After staying the 3 nights though, I'm actually really glad we planned the trip the way we did. First the rooms...We stayed in an over water bungalow, and like others have said, there was nothing bad I could say about these rooms. They were beautiful and updated. Being abl... Read more

The welcome leis, luggage handling, boat transfer and check-in were seamless and excellent. The hotel property, rooms, and grounds are well maintained. Great beach with shade trees and inner lagoon for snorkeling. Turtle sanctuary (hospital) and lagoons with fish were interesting. Although food and drinks are pricey, the breakfast buffet ($45pp) and dinner buffets ($79pp) at Le Tipanie restaurant were excellent if you like most foods. Other ala cart dinners at Le Tipanie were also very good. Lun... Read more

From the moment we arrived at the resort, the service was outstanding. Before we checked-in to our rooms, we were given a tour and the attention to detail about what the resort had to offer was on point. The view and the beaches was amazingly perfect. The team at concierge was very helpful especially Heipua Teikihakaupoko, she made our trip extra special. Thank you for a wonderful stay and would defiantly like to go back in the future!

We stayed here on our honeymoon last month and we are already thinking about when we can go back. The property is very nice, well maintained, and our bungalow was very clean and felt like it was brand new. Our travel agent at Custom Tahiti Travel told us the view from our bungalow would be fantastic, but there is no way we could have known just how amazing it would be. Believe me when I say that all of the pictures you have probably seen of Bora Bora do not do it justice! Mt. Otamanu on the main... Read more

Bora Bora was our first honeymoon destination and I am so glad we chose Le Meridien. The location off of the big island provides a peaceful retreat in a serene setting that is stunning. The grounds are immaculate and the overwater bungalows are modern and luxurious and far surpassed the other two we stayed in in Moorea. The double floor windows to watch fish and other sea creatures are so cool! Yes, the food is expensive and arguably overpriced, but that is the case with any resort in Bora Bora ... Read more

We stayed at Le Meridien Bora Bora for 4 nights in an overwater bungalow. The resort itself is really stunning and the grounds are beautiful. It has some of the best views of the island that you can find. The overwater bungalows have this huge glass floor and there is a light on the bottom that attracts all the fish at night. We stayed in 334 which was at the end of the pontoon. At first we were disappointed because there wasn't a lot of coral out there since the room was so far out and the wa... Read more

Beautiful property and amazing view from our over water bungalow. Staff were very friendly and accommodating to our requests. The grounds are very spacious and kept very clean with the exception of inconsiderate smoking guests who liked to throw their butts on the ground. Le Meridien for 3 nights. It was a 20 minute boat ride away from the Pearl Resort. The Le Meridien was a much bigger resort, not as intimate. The rooms were ultra modern and really cool. The floor of the room had a 7 foot glass floor area where you could see the water and any passing sea life right under your feet. Also, a light would illuminate the glass floor at night. The resort grounds were incredible, it's impossible to list everything but I'll mention a few things that really stood out. The "sandbar" which is what I'm calling the strip of sand between the lagoon and the smaller sublagoon in the resort has a lot of beach chairs, some cool little wicker lounging huts, a beach volleyball net, tons of space and is a very unique and interesting place to hang out on the beach ... They also have a large ocean enclosure where no sharks or large sea creatures can get in, just the pretty little colorful fish (see my photo), it??s picturesque.
